Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Chris Knight and Open to Anyone
When: March 28
Where: Park between the two apartment buildings
Rating: I'm guessing PG.

Chris sat with a history book in his hands, laying down on a park bench. It's all he had been doing since they left Quarantine. He didn't know anyone. He was taken from the 1980s. Everyone he could have even began to think of to contact would be long since dead by now.

He closed it, frustratingly. So much had happened, so much had changed, that even he couldn't get his head wrapped all the way around it. He was the science genius. He suddenly missed Mitch and wondered if they could figure this out together if he were here. Without anything to test, Chris felt lost.

"Suppose you could call it that. Been gone well, since 1985. My children, if I'd had any, would probably be close to dead by now. But since that was basically last month for me, I'm Trying to see anything about the world that's changed."

"Well... February 2005." She raised her hand, "Most recent I can't help you but before that I might be of some use?"

Chris would honestly rather hear it from her rather than a book, so he nodded. "Sounds great. Any huge events? Did they dedicate a statue in my memory and make my birthday a national holiday?" he smirked.

"What did you say your name was again?" She teased.

"Chris Knight,' he laughed. "I was one of the top ten minds in America, but I was cut down before my prime. Sad thing. I'd just gotten out of school, really."

"I kinda don't follow academic type stuff too much." She admitted, "If it doesn't involve a whole bunch of sand and a nice expanse of water odds are good it passed me by." But after a moment's thought, "They tore down the Berlin Wall?"

"It's cool. I was gone for 20 years before you disappeared anyway," he smirked. "Berlin, huh? That's great. When did that happen?"

"Um. I don't know exactly. Some time around 1990? Just before, I think."

"Wow, not too long after I left then. Anything else of importance?" He knew she wouldn't be able to tell him everything. It was the strangest feeling knowing abut the 80s, but not the 90s onward. It was like cutting a chunk out of the middle of a history book.

"Um. The USSR broke up into a bunch of smaller countries? And you had this one president who got impeached for knocking around with an intern and a cigar."

Chris was actually grateful to hear the first part. He laughed at the second. "That's hilairous. Did he get thrown out?"

"Nope, he got a second term. Then they elected this guy that in Oz, at least, we kinda figured was your village idiot whose Dad had the job before the cigar guy."

Chris laughed again. She's pretty funny. "Oz?" he asked.

"It's okay, really," Chris smiled. "I mean, we're all from different decades. We'll all be confused as hell for a while. "

Chris shrugged. "Yeah, but we'll all be okay. We can adapt better than we think we can. Not that I'm not frustrated. I'm not used to being so confused."

Chris' mind went straight into the gutter at that statement and he smiled at her again, only a little bit wider. "Well, I'm sure they have pools in Seattle."
