Age Plot: Harry/AlSev
Who: Harry & AlSev
Where: Town Square
When: Sunday afternoon
What: In which Harry meets one of the people in the village who look like him
Ginny had said she had some things to take care of. Harry could do whatever he liked, she said, but after glancing into all the rooms in the house there was not much else left to do. There were a couple of books sitting around the place, but even the titles were enough to make Harry's head spin. Advanced Control of Corporeal Patroni: Messages, Defence and Temporal Commands was just the top of the pile.
No one had said he couldn't go outside, so he slipped out of the front door and explored the small garden. It was much smaller than that of Number 4, Privet Drive - no handy shrubbery to hide behind or trees to climb. He could see some trees in the distance, though, on a hill behind some buildings. Without thinking much of it, he wandered out of the gate and along the path, telling himself he would not go far. He walked through what seemed to be a communal eating place, where there were a few people congregating. He was too shy to approach any of them, but some of them gave him funny looks as he walked past. He moved away quickly.
There was a big square ahead with a big building and a clock tower. Interested, Harry stopped and looked up at it, blinking as the sunlight reflected off his new glasses. It was almost one o'clock. He'd wait for it to chime, he thought, then he'd go back before anyone missed him. He went and sat cross-legged on the ledge of the fountain in the centre of the square and tried to make sense of the last twelve hours. His whole life had been turned upside down even before he'd arrived in this strange village that seemed to be nowhere and nowhen, and thinking about it made his head hurt, but he kept thinking that he must eventually work it out if he pondered on it for long enough.
He swung his legs under the ledge, the heels of his trainers knocking against the stone. DONG! The bell rang loudly, making him jump.
He sighed and stood up, pulling up his oversized jeans through the overlong T-shirt. As he turned to go back the way he had come, he saw someone else crossing the square on the other side of the fountain. The sight was enough to make him duck quickly back behind it so he couldn't be seen, himself. It was a young man, but the astounding thing was that he seemed to look just like Harry. Even from here he could see the messy dark hair and glasses, and since his clothes fit better than Harry's did, it was easy to see he was built along just the same lines. Could this be....
Ginny had said that Harry's dad looked just like him. Could it be him? It would be very embarrassing if it wasn't. But then, his mum and dad were meant to know all about him, so surely he would know, if he saw Harry. Harry watched for a minute more, trying to decide what to do, shifting uneasily from foot to foot and biting his lip. Finally, as the man reached the edge of the square, Harry couldn't wait anymore. He broke his cover and ran towards the man, almost tripping over his shoelaces. He slowed down as he approached and nervously reached up to tug on the man's sleeve. "Er... excuse me?" he said, stammering a little.
