Who: Colin and Dennis Creevey
What: Brother talking time.
When: Sunday, after the expedition.
Where: Cabin 37
Why: Colin has found the collection.
Colin would be lying if he said the thought of Dennis being out in the wilderness all night without him didn’t make him worry a little. When he looked at Dennis, his brother who had already been through war and living on the streets before he’d even turned 15, he was reminded how it was his place to protect him, to keep him out of harms way and that ultimately he’d failed his brother in the real world. Colin also knew that what Dennis needed was a parent, but Colin didn’t know the first thing about that, and so he tried the best that he could. He made sure Dennis ate proper food, made sure he went to school. He’d even done his laundry, which is what brought Colin into his room when he was away. He’d just finished putting the clothing away when the glint of something metal caught his eye under the bed.
Colin knew he should have just left, but Dennis had been acting so weird lately, and with the argument they’d had, all Colin wanted to do was to make sure everything was okay. And so he told himself it was okay to look. He wasn’t really sure what he was expecting when he got down under the bed to look, but he wasn’t expecting cans and blankets and rations of food and batteries. Colin sighed and pushed himself away from the collection. Dennis really was planning on running away, wasn’t he?
Colin didn’t know what to do. He should write Draco and Mac, shouldn’t he? Or Ginny? Or maybe someone who had experience with kids, like Miss Bones or Miss Potter. Maybe even the psychologist. Instead, he just sat on the couch, the telly on to provide noise to chase away his thoughts as he stared at the door waiting for Dennis to get home.
