The Second Task!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Who: Hogwarts teachers and students, Harry, Cedric, Hermione, Sirius, Ardyn, and any family members or close friends who would like to attend
Where: The lake, Hogwarts grounds
When: March 10th, mid-morning
Rating: no higher than PG13, please
Mod Note: Anything goes here.  I'll post two threads.  One for the Champions and their "things," as well as the official announcements, and the other for the spectators.  Anyone who's an object to be rescued won't really be able to do much until the champions break the surface again, of course, but...

Ludo was nervous.  Harry hadn't shown yet, and there were only a few more minutes until the task was supposed to begin.  What if he failed to turn up?  Then he'd really be up the creek.  Maybe he should run up to the castle and...no, there was the boy now, running down from the castle.  Ludo tried to hide his relief, but he couldn't hold back a pleased sigh as the boy skidded to a stop in front of the rest of the champions.

"Harry, my boy!"  He clapped the boy on the shoulder, grinning.  "Was beginning to think you would stand us up.  Well, come along...  Let's get you all into place!"  He led the boy to the far side of the lake, his voice lower as they moved away from the others.  "You ready?  Know what you're going to do?"

The Cuteness

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Who: Hermione and Neville
When: after dusk
Where: the astronomy tower
Rating: TBD

Hermione decided she needed extra study time. Astronomy wasn't a difficult subject, it was simply memorizing all of the planets and solar systems that seemed to give her problems. She'd gotten permission from Professor McGonagall to be out of bounds.

She was lucky no one else had ventured up to the tower. She set up her telescope and pulled out her papers and parchment.

Neville looked over at Hermione. Normally she had about a hundred books out by now, deep in study. Instead, she seemed to be scribbling something on the back of an owl she'd received earlier. He turned his chair around, earning glares from those around them as the legs made a painful screeching noise, and peeked over her shoulder. "Who're you writing to?"

First Task of the Triwizard Tournament

McGonagall fiddled nervously with her cloak as she walked through the grounds down to the site for the first task. She knew what she was approaching but still the sound of the dragon roars made her nostrils flare.
Setting students up against dragons... really...
All around her students were talking excitedly, milling around as they discussed what the first task would be, until they turned the corner and faced the enclosures.

An eerie silence fell over the crowd at the sight, interspersed with a few screams, then a buzzing sound spread.

McGonagall frowned with annoyance as she passed a number of people discussing the Champions' chances of survival, then she finally made her way up to the part of the stadium which was reserved for the Hogwarts staff and judges. She settled with an annoyed huff right behind Moody who was humming some tune to himself.

Dragons

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Who: Hermione and Harry
Where: Gryffindor Common Room
When: Very, very late on 21st November, 1994

Dragons. There were fucking dragons there! And Fleur Delacour would know now because Hagrid was not only a big softie but also a fool in love. Ew, by the way... Bad thought. Something about knocking trees over. Harry tried to purge it from his mind. Karkaroff had been snooping around too, so Krum would know as well. Dragons. They had to get past dragons...

Harry climbed through the portrait hole, still dazed. He just hoped Hermione was still awake!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Who: Fourth years, Snape, and I think we'll say sixth years are getting out, just to increase the number of pups in play
Where: Outside the Potions classroom
When: Monday morning, 11/13
Notes: Go wild, guys! :D

The badges were perfect.  Between Beau and Millicent's help, they were even better than Draco had expected.  He had brought up a full box this morning when he came to breakfast, and had made sure everyone who wanted one had one.  Only a few remained, but he had a perfect idea what to do with them.  Especially with Potions being next period.  And what better time to try them out than now?

Now he stood near Blaise, Crabbe, and Goyle outside the Potions classroom, waiting for the Gryffindors to appear.  He couldn't wait to see Potter's face when he read the true message of the badges.  This was going to be perfect.

In Gryffindor Tower

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
who: Gryffindors
When: 1st November, 1994, after school hours
Where: Common Room
Rating: Max. PG-13
Notes: For any Gryffindors around who'd like to either talk to Harry or each other about the selection. Feel free to place your pup elsewhere in the room and have private conversations - or tag Harry if you want :-)

It was depressing. Harry felt completely back to his earlier school-days when Dudley and his gang had ruled the roost and Harry's biggest advantage had been being a fast runner. The problem with boarding school was, it seemed, that there weren't that many places to run... At least the Gryffindors weren't giving him such a hard time - a lot of them thought it was brilliant that he'd managed to sneak his way into the Tournament. Harry didn't know why, but this was almost as distressing as the numerous people who hissed, called him names, tripped, kicked and otherwise hurt him.

At least up here that didn't happen. A few were jealous or annoyed, but it was his own worry that got to him the most. What the hell might happen in this Tournament? He kept hearing Mr. Crouch in his head, talking about 'binding magical contract' and Moody's words about someone out to get him and fooling an extremely powerful object. So who had done that? What the fuck was going on?

Mod note: Opening thread! Use it as you see fit. The more the merrier! (sorry to those who have adult pups--yours probably wouldn't be here. Feel free to post your own. At the Broomsticks, maybe?) Portions of this entry have been quoted verbatum from the original text

The Hall was eerily quiet. Certainly, no one had expected the Goblet to flare a fourth time. They also hadn't expected Dumbledore to actually pay attention to the fourth strip of paper that had floated down to him from it. Still, perhaps it should have been a surprise to no one the name that was called.

"Harry Potter."

All eyes turned to the pale, dark-haired boy who sat, frozen in place at the attention, and a flurry of whispers filled the room.

"Harry Potter!" Dumbledore called again. "Harry! Up here, if you please!"
