Valentine's Day
WHO: Camp Fortitude Residents
WHAT: Valentine's Day Dance
WHEN: Saturday Evening
WHERE: Community Center Gym
WARNINGS: All of them; Anything Goes
STATUS: Open/Ongoing
Camp Fortitude was a good community and Pepper had grown to love it in the time she'd been there. Granted it helped that Tony was there too, it was something to be thankful for and she'd made some wonderful friends, but despite the danger lurking outside the walls, this was home. And Pepper took care of her home and the people in it.
Part of that caretaking was the desire to ensure fun was had. Each member of the community had a job to do, from defense to gardening and farming and people worked hard every day to make what they had. At the end of the day, they slept in order to get up and do it all again. So when a holiday came around, Pepper made sure that even with what little they had, the were going to celebrate. She thought for a while the brownout and the breaching of the fences would kill the mood. It didn't, not in Pepper's mind anyways. And she woke up on Saturday morning with renewed energy, gathered supplies, sent electronic notes to several other members of the community that she needed help, and headed to the gym.
All they had were a couple of notebooks, a ream of white printer paper, and a big box of crayons, but from it, she, Caroline, Lydia, and Kira created a pink, red, and white Valentine wonderland. Several of the tech guys set up a sound system and the choice of music was a little weird, given that was a mish mash of the tastes of many community members who who music to offer, but they could dance to it. Food was a little harder to come by and in the end there were two big pots of vegetable soup (a little heavy on the spinach), plates of made from scratch biscuits, and a big punchbowl full of blue kool-aid. Beggars couldn't be choosers and anybody who didn't want to dance could at least come for dinner and a social hour.
Overall, looking at their handiwork, Pepper stood near the food table and smiled. Seeing her family enjoying themselves was the best thing she could ask for.
OOC: Feel free to use this post to set your own scenes at or after the dance. Enjoy!
