It was almost a perfect day. Henbane loved those day when she could walk around in the heat. Between that and feeling the sand beneath her feet she would be in a good mood for the day. As long as nothing happened to put a damper on her mood she would be considerably more pleasant than usual. She had walked for hours, taking in the noise and how fast paced the city was. She wasn’t particularly fond of either, being more the type to enjoy and quiet and seclusion of say, a hotel room. But she did not currently have that luxury.
So instead she had taken to walking that day. She had been to Central Park; too many people asking if she wanted to join in Frisbee… Okay, only one. But that was one too many. She had been to the shores under Brooklyn Bridge, but had had just enough time in the sand before more people started to show up.
If she had been the type to go shopping, it would have been a perfect idea. That, however, was not something Henbane did and she didn’t even have enough money for a $10 t-shirt. Instead, she went to the one place that would be both quiet and free: The library. However, the air conditioning was simply turned up too high. (What a treat it would be to change that and watch was the mortals had a fit.) As casually as though she were checking the numbers of the books on the shelves in front of her, she reached over to a thermostat on the wall. Crack.. She then moved on to every other thermostat she could find that was not in a private office or an employees only section.
It wouldn’t be too long before she would feel more comfortable, and those around her becoming increasingly uncomfortable. It would only be a matter of time before she would virtually have the place to herself.; surely, the employees would suggest people go home because the air had decided to die on them. The slightest of grins could be seen on her lips as she sat in a comfy armchair with a random book.
