Monday
Who: Greg and Ron
What: The usual antagonism in an unusual venue
Where: WWW
When: Monday 16th March
Rating: NSW?

Greg hated Mondays and already he hated this particular Monday more than most. A forgotten alarm meant by the time he was woken up by Mrs McHavelock rattling the shutters on the shop below, he was already late. He cursed to himself as he magically cleaned himself and his hideous Weasley robes, then apparated to the safe point just outside the shop, pushing the door open and expecting to find George serving customers in his place. Instead, he pulled himself up short face-to-face with his least favourite Weasley of them all (though it was a close contest). "What are you doing here?" He looked around, then peered at Ron as if he expected him to transform back into George. It wouldn't have come as that much of a surprise, after all the pranks George had inflicted on Greg since he'd taken this job. "Where's George?" he asked, suspicious. "You're not supposed to be here." Was this all some elaborate joke? Were other Weasleys going to spring forth form the shelves? Had they heard about Greg's talking about them? He groped in his pocket for his wand, ready for anything.

It took Greg a little time to work through Weasley's words and finally establish that 'he' in this case was 'George'. Ron's second statement was a little easier - though definitely not one Greg relished hearing.

"Why?" Greg asked, because he didn't understand what had happened to make Ron go from being an Auror to working in a shop. If Greg had a job like that, where he got to fight for a living, he wouldn't give it up to go work with stupid customers and stupider products. On the other hand, it was was Weasley and Greg quickly gave up on that line of questioning. "I don't care," he declared. "Do I still have a job?" It seemed only logical that if George had taken on new staff he probably didn't need Greg any more. As much as Greg hated the job, he didn't want to have to look for another one. It had been hard enough the first time, plus his mum would be annoyed.

Ron wouldn't have wanted to answer anyway, but even so he bit back a sigh.

"Of course you still have a job," he said, rolling his eyes. "George wants to focus on product development for a while, that's all." Hopefully he would have a few new things ready by June or July, at which point he'd probably be needed back in the shop once Hogwarts had broken up for the summer. "So I'm working with you instead."

Joy.

Though he was relieved to hear it, Greg didn't show it on his face. Working for two Weasleys was even worse than working for one - not to mention, Greg liked Ron even less than he liked George. Every time he brought up his job at home, his mum reminded him what a great thing it was, being 'accepted' by the Weasleys. Greg didn't understand it - he still considered it to be an insult to be associated with them, and that might never change.

"Fine," he grunted, moving away from Ron towards the shelves where the dungbombs were kept - noticeably depleted from a weekend of sales. "Then I'll get on with it." He didn't want Weasley telling him what to do, though knowing Ron it would happen sooner rather than later. At least there'd be someone else in the shop to deal with customers.

"Yeah." Ron prodded one of the keys on the till and the drawer shot open; he stepped back just quickly enough to avoid getting hit in the stomach. "You do that."

Merlin, George owed him a pint for having to deal with this conversation. Maybe two.
