New player Terry here - I think some of you know me - with Richard Harrington Summerby. Call him Rich, or Bee. Some people might remember him as the one who took over Cedric's position after the TriWizard. He was a Hufflepuff, class of 96. When he graduated, he turned down an offer to play Seeker or Chaser for the Falcons and went into Auror training. He quit when Voldie's crew took over the Ministry and joined the resistance, first raising funds and bringing supplies into England, and later Smuggling people out. Some people might know him as Ridgeback, or remember a disreputable older Frenchman named Jean Forgeron. Some Snatchers and a few Death Eaters know him as the last person they saw in their life. He took part in the Battle of Hogwarts, and it was there he lost his girlfriend, a Ravenclaw a few years younger than him. He still visits her grave every year on the anniversary of her death. After the end of the war he went to work on the Swedish Dragon Reserve, but that didn't work out.

Fellow Puffs might know that he's been a broom racer since he was six, starting out on a kiddy broom. If anybody follows the racing circuit, he's known as a talented amateur, one class below the pros. He has also been doing a little test flying for a reincarnated Bluebottle. You can catch him most weekends practicing on one local track or another, or giving flying lessons and instructing beginning racers.

Richard is a junior partner (quite well paid) at International Exports, where his father is a Senior Partner. His job has him jumping all over the globe working deals. He's based out of the London office now, and should be around a lot more. He sometimes trades on his broom racing contacts and his ability with languages to land deals others can't. If you want to buy, sell, or transport anything internationally, he probably 'knows somebody'.

An accomplished dancer, given to good books, fine dining and the Theater, well-off, not too bad looking. Why hasn't some lady landed him? Rich has a bit of a PTSD problem. He still sees the faces of everybody he killed and everybody he couldn't save in his nightmares. Serious commitment issues in a relationship. Most girls aren't interested in visiting a former girlfriend's grave. Will there be someone who can help him get past this little problem? Time will tell.

Take a look at the boy's character sheet for more details. Open to friends, enemies, romance, almost anything. I work an odd schedule so I'm off and on line all sorts of odd hours, usually on my phone. I can be reached at terry dot buyers at gmail dot com or simiangrudge on AIM.

Hello, Terry. I'm Christie and I am the queen of short intro responses. I invited you to join out game wide chat and I have three kids here.

Blaise Zabini - probably ignores him.

Hermione Granger - will be polite. Does he attend Battlescars?

Marietta Edgecombe doesn't understand the whole need for love thing and has issues with relationships. The main one being she's never had one. Possible reason to connect there.

Rich ignores Blaise right back. ;-)

Probably won't attend Battlescars unless dragged there. The only thing he got from professional counseling was that the regret he has about the killing he did is because he basically civilized. If you'd like, Hermione can be someone who knows the true identity of Jean Forgeron from his Resistance days.

Definitely up for meetings or more with Marietta.

From my understanding it's just a group that shares their feelings nothing professional really about it. I can't see why Hermione would know his alter ego.

We shall have to work to plan that at some time.

Hello Terry! I'm Mercy, and I have Zacharias Smith, who'd likely at least have known Rich from Hufflepuff Quidditch stuff! He left Hogwarts in 1999 so he was a few years younger than Rich. He was reserve chaser his second year (and third, though no Quidditch that year because of Tri-Wizard Tournament) and started in his fourth/95, so they'd have eventually been on the team together. So far as how they get on or don't get on, I'm always up for plotting, discussing, and just random interaction! Anyway, welcome!

Hi Terry, I'm Jess. I think we played together years and years ago at Beyond Dark? If I'm not mistaken anyway.

So I have 4 here, of varying interest to Richard

Ben Stebbins: ([info]zenben), a Hufflepuff in Richard's year. He was also on the Quidditch team and bffs/soulmates/brothers with Cedric. He and Richard don't have a lot in common, but Ben's a friendly guy and says they should be friends anyway.

Harry Potter: ([info]auror__potter) I'm not sure if he'd know Richard well, but might have known of his girlfriend?

Pansy Parkinson: ([info]pans_parkinson_) Might know of him through those Pureblood family circles, though hers is on the opposite side than his.

Lisa Turpin: (this journal) I don't think she'd know him, but she finds broom racing way more exciting than Quidditch. She runs a bookshop in Monument Alley.

Yup. BtD and the frenetic Antonin Dolohov.

Ben, old housemates and teammates. Not close since school, but still friends.

Richard's company doesn't advertise per se. He is one of their major salesmen and contract managers. His parents are active in the Marseilles social scene though. Or maybe they got better acquainted through his contacts in the Parisian fashion industry. He'd be a 'safe escort' for her, and is taller than she is when she's in her heels.

Lisa he probably knows from book shopping and around the Alley.

Hi Terry, I'm Jewels and I only have one character: Luna Lovegood.

Luna went to the Dragon Reserve so he might know her from there. I think the timelines overlap. She kind of went to Romania to Sweden and then quit all of that and came back home. Of course he might think she's crazy and wants nothing to do with her so there's that too lol.

Although Rich was sort of distant to everyone during his Dragon Reservation days, he'd probably have been her interpreter and guide. These days he tends to be polite/friendly to just about everybody. And he still has a soft spot for magical creatures of all sorts.

Rich says that anybody who races Unlimited brooms as close to the ragged edge as he does is in no position to judge anybody else's sanity. He wouldn't mind asking her out for dinner or something like that.

She wouldn't blame him for being distant, I think she understands that a lot. I think that's half the reason why she tends to wander off and go to different countries so that she can be alone. Oh and Luna runs the local vet so if he has animals and needs the vet, there's that too.

She appreciates that actually. And that would be great. No one asks her out for dinner lol.

Until recently, Rich was on the road too much for any pets. He still may be gone for two or three days at a time. But he did do quite a bit of study in CoMC if Luna ever needs a hand or some potion from another country.

I suspect he sort of likes Luna because she's not trying to land him as a husband. He also deals with enough different people that she wouldn't really strike him as that odd.

Welcome! So far I only have Rolf Scamander, who was a Hufflepuff a few years below Terry but he might remember him as a helpful, friendly kid who was protective of his friends. He got into some trouble bc of that before and during the final battle. He now runs his family's shop The Bestiary. I'm open to random!

I do have a girl I'm working on we might can talk about later. I'm also on at odd times and often on my phone. Feel free to ping me at gelseydutchwood or email me at awhisperinthewind at gmail dot com.

I know you! And I recognise that Richard (Alicia's grinning her pretty little head off right now... I may be doing the same thing).

Anyway, I'm Kat and I have 3 girls here:

Alicia Fawley (nee Spinnet) - She's... not quite like the Alicia you've played with before, so: Alicia's a widowed single mother of two (twins Isla and Liam who'll be 6 in December) after Daniel Fawley (of the Sacred 28 Fawleys and the owners of Pride of Portree). She's Healer for Pride of Portree (part-time) and co-founder (and very involved with) the Daniel Fawley Foundation that has a looooong description, but basically they help out families of children who lost either one or both parents during the war (ie, they deal a lot with the Muggle world). She's the same year as Richard, just different House, and we should talk some about the war, because the Healer team in PoP did some extracurricular stuff there for those who couldn't go to St. Mungo's... Also, all sorts of other things with those two!! Please!! :D

Then there's Melinda Bobbin ([info]_melinda_) - Ravenclaw, 1 year younger than Richard. Melinda owns and runs Sweet Nothings, the pâtisserie in Monument Alley and she will make just about any cake, cookie or dessert (or anything sweet for that matter) for you, though she balks at macarons, unless you're a close friend. She's sweet, oh so sweet, and always open for friendships, business partnerships or regular customers.

Finally, the newest of the bunch:
Rose Zeller ([info]_rose_) - Hufflepuff, 6 years younger than Richard. Rose is... Rose is Rose is Rose. I think that best describes her, because she's... well, she's young. Very young, as in 2 years out of Hogwarts, young. She finished basic Cursebreaker training this summer and is now part of the team of Cursebreakers working out of the London branch while she finishes the whole training program. Rose loves people, but aside from a very few, she just doesn't trust them, but she's still friendly and approachable and up for just about anything plotwise. She's not shy, at all, not when it comes to her body at least, but she would rather have you think that she's getting by on her charms and good looks than on her actual intellect and knowledge when it comes to her work.

I'm on a Danish schedule, so that fits in with everybody's odd schedules in this place. I'm bit_of_vanilla on Y!M and justatouchof on AIM and so thrilled to see you and Richard here :)

Hey Kat!

All the Alicia. ;-) This Richard is a little darker than the one you remember. More affected by the war. I could see an old friendship here. He probably still calls her Spins or Spinner. Maybe Uncle Rich dropped by occasionally when he was in town with things from exotic places for the twins. He's contributed to the Foundation as well if she keeps his donations secret. Is Ali an investor in the rebirth of the Bluebottle company? She may have been his source of healing supplies during the war and probably a little training where creature healing didn't cover the technique.

Melinda probably knows his as the polite guy with the sweet tooth - a regular customer. He'll pick up a bag or two of goodies on the days he goes in to the office. He's turned most of the office into regular customers when he isn't around to cater to their cravings. What did you have in mind for a business partnership?

He'd probably categorize Rose as too young, so while friendly there'd be a certain distance to him. He is good at reading people and probably sees that she is a smart cookie. I'm up for just about anything with them.

I'm almost tempted to do a gesture with my hand and go "Haaaave you met Ted George?" Ali can deal with darker, I can deal with darker, I think we all can deal with darker :)

Old friendship, definitely, and since she still goes by Spinnet (except in formal settings) Spins or Spinner will barely cause a quirked eyebrow from her. Those twins could use all the spoiling they can get, so bring on Uncle Rich (I need to do the family description at some point, but basically Liam is the quieter one, who loves music and is only just becoming almost comfortable with brooms, while Isla's a spitfire, mad about brooms and all things Quidditch HUGE Puddlemere supporter because of Oliver). Any and all donations are welcome so if Rich wants to remain anonymous, he'll remain anonymous (I'm assuming that Ali may know of his donations?). I hadn't thought of Alicia as an investor, but now that you mention it, it would make sense + keep the money flowing (I guess), so sure, let's have her be an investor, or have her accountant handle that for her. She would have been available for all those things during the war, as well as actual Healing if/when there was a need for it.

Melinda remembers her regular customers and usually in which direction their tastes go, so that would make sense. Okay, so I can see that I wrote 'business partnership' and I'm sure I had a reason for it when I did that, but for the life of everything that's good, I can't remember what it was. I'll let you know if it comes back, or if you have any ideas, I'd love to hear it.

Rose travels a lot too, except when she's bored back in London so random encounters in, I don't know, Timbuktu or the Far East (or Romania, she's part Romanian so goes there quite often) could be fun. Otherwise good conversation and sharing of tales is always fun :)

"Hey, Spins, every kid needs a rich Uncle Rich." He's the sort to remember Christmas and birthdays. He'd have custom-built kid-sized brooms suited to each twin's ability.

Melinda - LOL. Let me know when you figure it out.

Depending on how Rose travels, she may have seen Rich hammering through Apparation points on one business trip or another. He likesto hit Belize or the western Greek islands when he has the time to relax, and has been known to hit the nude beaches at Cap de Ag'de in southern France. He also keeps a studio apartment over a small restaurant near the Marseilles harbor so he can visit without having to stay at his parents - thus avoiding his mother and her urge to hook him up with someone on the Social Registry.

Serious points for Uncle Rich, though it's not exactly money that family's lacking. lol

Melinda - I will.

Rose, as I've just learned from her talking to Rolf, has never done tourism travels, so it's been either to visit friends or family (scratch that last part: she hasn't been in contact with her family since she turned 14, so that would be her chosen family instead) or for work/training - she'll be looking for inspiration on where to try out this whole holiday/vacationing thing.

Hiya, welcome to the game :-) I'm Kaylie, friendly neighbourhood mod and I have four characters already somehow:

Seamus Finnigan ([info]openbottle), pub landlord. May not really remember Richard from school but will probably recognise him from around the pub. Depending on how Richard's PTSD manifests, Seamus may recognise it as his best friend (Dean Thomas) also suffers it. Has probably invited Richard to Battlescars but won't pressure him to come.

Dominic Chambers ([info]knowhow) was a Ravenclaw, a year younger than the trio so... three years younger than Richard. He also started playing Quidditch the year after the TriWizard tournament so they probably faced each other on the pitch, but I doubt Dominic would remember him much outside of that. However, he can know Richard from around the pub too since its him who sets the rooms up for the various activities. I think they might get on? Dominic's got a bit of an adrenaline thing as well (he likes fast cars and fast brooms).

Lucy Spinks ([Bad username: adding value] was a Hufflepuff, Harry's year, but she's been out of the magical world entirely since Dumbledore's death. She might vaguely remember Richard from school. If he remembers her at all it's probably as the tiny girl who wasn't very good at magic and spent all her time studying like a Ravenclaw.

Greg Goyle (this chap here!), my newest. Probably doesn't remember him much from school or particularly like him. Just because he only really likes the friends he already has.

Hi and thanks for letting me play.

Richard's major public symptom of his PTSD is the 'thousand mile stare' that hits him occasionally when something brings up a memory of the war. It can leave him sitting alone in a crowded room. Seamus would know Rich will usually drink lager or a black and tan, but will ask for straight bourbon - leave the bottle - when the nightmares get bad.

Since Dom is a broom junkie too, Rich could have slipped him in to the pits when they were testing prototype brooms for the reincarnation of Bluebottle. They are bringing back the Family Broom and the Two-Place, but Richard's pride and joy is the Class C, and out of the box C-Class racing/high performance broom. He'd also teach Dominic odds and ends of broom bodging. And he keeps a Jaguar saloon in Calais so he is more knowledgeable about muggle automobiles than the average wizard.

I sort of agree that anything with your other two would need to develop in game, but I'm up for almost anything.

Hey there Terry! I'm Jinx, and this is Marcus Flint. He was a Slytherin, class of 94 (though he was supposed to have graduated in 93) so there might have been some vague memories from Quidditch at school. Marcus was a Death eater during the war, though that wasn't something he really chose as much as it was forced on him, and afterwards spent four years in Azkaban for his crimes. Nowadays he plays Chaser for the Appleby Arrows, so there's not much for interaction there, but there's always the possibility that they might run into one another at Finnigan's. Welcome to the game!

Thanks for the welcome.

I agree, probably not much past history unless Rich tagged him during the war.

Rich has very few still on his shoot on sight list, so Marcus most likely isn't on it. He's actually fairly tolerant of people's past history, but also keeps in fighting shape and usually carries two or three wands and has been known to wear a Walther PPK in a shoulder holster. Marcus might push some of Richard's paranoid buttons until they get better acquainted.

I recognise Richard too!

I'm Natasha and I currently have two here:

Lavender Brown ([info]angustifolia) is a bit different to the Lavender you played with in the past. She's a Hit Wizard and runs the duelling club at Finnigan's every week. Though she's a friendly sort, I don't think she has any reason to know Richard.

Bryn Cadwallader ([info]nowinaminute) on the other hand would probably know Richard well enough. He's Hufflepuff, the year below Richard, and played Chaser on the Quidditch team. These days he has several part time jobs, including Sweet Nothings and Finnigan's.

Well hey there!

Different!Lavender, different!Richard. Writing their predecessors was certainly a lot of fun. He'll probably be dropping in on the Dueling Club to check things out now that he's in London most of the time. He'd be a little leery of hurting anyone who wasn't a skilled opponent so he'd probably not want to participate much. Want to develop anything with them? This Richard is a lot less approachable when it comes to anything permanent other than friendship.

Yes for Bryn. Old school chums, I see you here, I see you there. Siddown and have a beer.

Well, when Richard pops into Duelling Club then Lavender will be friendly. And if he makes any comments about being worried about hurting anyone, she'll probably just laugh it off, point out the Healer(s) and offer herself as an opponent! So I guess let's see what happens.

Yep. That sounds fair enough for Bryn.

Welcome Terry, I'm Caroline and I have two characters.

This is Dean Thomas. He's got a bit of a collection of Hufflepuff friends but mostly from his own year. He might recognise him by sight. He's an artist, and part-time barman for Finnigan's (mostly day shifts or quiet nights). He has pretty serious PTSD but is pretty well regulated on potions and has excellent friends.

I also have [info]hopalongcharlie Charlie Weasley, who runs the local club, Wingbeat that's been open for just under 2 months now. He returned from Romania around 6-7 months ago after losing just over half of his right leg. Depending on timing he may have played quidditch at the same time at school, and maybe Charlie visited the Swedish reservation when he was there. In general though he's friendly and genial.

Rich knows PTSD from the inside, so he'd be quietly friendly with Dean, maybe gently joke about the Puff collection.

Charlie was one of his heroes when Rich was still dragon-mad. He'd probably feel a little awkward around Charlie at first, because Rich is the one that never seems to get hurt. They probably did play against each other, and exchanged visits on the different reservations in the past.

  • Cormac remembers him, from the pitch I'd say. He runs a sports shop if Rich is ever interested these days and he's very friendly if Rich is looking for a friend (Mac needs friends!).
  • Adrian would probably also remember him from school and sells potions, so anytime you'd like any interactions :)
  • Romilda runs the local sex shop and would remember him from school, though she was quite younger.
  • Cho also has some baggage from the war and would definitely remember him from her sixth year with Cedric.

He is a pretty boy. :-)

He'd probably argue Quidditch with Cormac, even though he's mostly a racing jock these days.

Rich mostly buys his potions from foreign dealers, but always open to interactions.

Unfortunately, he probably wouldn't remember Romi, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't like to meet her.

He'll be available if Cho needs an escort. Cedric was his good friend, and he'd want to help her out for that, if nothing else.

Hey Terry! Welcome to Finnigan's! I have 4 peeps here:

Ernie: Fellow Hufflepuff 2 years apart I believe, and also a dancer! He's also a healer in the Janus Thickey ward, so if Richard ever wants to work through some of his PTSD, Ernie'd be willing to help.

Percy: Follows the broom racing circuit both for work and for personal interest, and probably has had some interactions with Bluebottle in the context of Broom Regulation. Also, how old is International Exports and is there somethign specific that they export? Percy has never stopped with his personal interest in International Magical affairs and may know a bit, or even interacted with them if the business was around back when he worked for Crouch Sr.

Gemma: Also follows the circuit, though for different reasons - yes, she loves flying, etc, but some of the people to whom she sells illegal brooms use them on the circuit (brooms with unregulated charms on them to make them faster/etc but could have the potential of 'unfortunate accidents', but people risk it because of the speed and the fact she sells them cheap).

Vikesh: May have looked at the racing circuit, but he's happy in quidditch right now. Vee says that yoga and meditation are good for PTSD (but then he thinks they're good for everything).

Rich tried professional counseling when he was in Sweden. Never thought he got much out of it so he isn't that interested in a rematch. OTOH, he's tried to stay friends with all the former Puffs, so he and Ernie are probably on good terms.

He's only minor investor in the new Bluebottle. What he does do is take the new designs the boffins come up with and wring them out to see if there is anything worth following up on. Since he is a broom bodger in his own right, and in and out if the Ministry on company business, Percy might have asked him to consult on occasion. IE dates back to the early 1700s as a trade consortium. They rarely do any actual shipping themselves now. Rich's job is to find people who want something, somebody who sells it, somebody to transport it, frequently involving three different countries and three different languages. IE takes a percentage of all the contracts. Thanks to Rich they have also branched into construction contract management.

One of Richard's racing brooms is an unregulated Unlimited, but he builds his own. He may have come across some of Gemma's though.

Richard's meditation involves several forms of unarmed martial arts and wizarding sword practice. Sorry, Vee. Although Bee and Bee has a certain ring, so I can see them having had polite arguments over which is better.

Am cool with on good terms.

Sounds very cool - I'd enjoy having Percy consulting with Rich, he needs more peeps in game who didn't know him before the war ;)

Yay!

Would love the arguments!
