Introduction and Getting Started Meme
Name: Shannon
Fandom(s) you are working on for this fest: Harry Potter and BTVS
Participation: (Writer/artist/beta/other. Include which you are doing for this fest, as I need to know this in order to make the meme challenges helpful.) Writer
The one item from your list that you most want to complete: snape_after_dh Fics
Items with a deadline other than this fest: 2 fics for snape_after_dh are due by October 31.
Most fun item on your list: Willow angst table for 30_somethings
Item you are dreading the most/need the most encouragement on: Hermione time turner fic. Have terrible thoughts of it being the horrible cliche that I hate.
How do you start a project?(Do you take vague notes, outline extensively, dive deep into research?) I just tend to dive in...maybe review the book or episode I'll need for the story.
In what conditions do you work best? (Time of day, the place you like to work in, the medium, for example.) Evenings. Alone and it needs to be quiet and distraction free.
One thing that always inspires you to create: (Anything. A quote, book, movie, artist, fanfiction, anything. Share with us, in hopes that we will be inspired by it as well.) Don't really know. The oddest things have inspired fics for me. Lately it's been prompts that catch my eye though.
One general thing you would really like to improve on: (Overall; doesn't have to be specific to an item on your list.)Planning fics better instead of writing first and thinking about where it's going to go later.
Advice and/or questions regarding the creative process that you have for the other members of the community: Honestly all I can say is if you enjoy it do it. Don't let lack of feedback or negative feedback discourage you. Write for yourself not everyone else.
A teaser from something you've got at least partially done:
He slowly opened his eyes. He was in his bedroom at Hogwarts. He wasn’t dead…or maybe he was in hell and would spend eternity forced to teach the future dunderheads. His head hurt. He knew he should stay here; knew he wasn’t strong enough to get up just yet but he needed to know what had happened. Had Potter seen his memories? Had he understood what he had to do? There really was no telling if he could figure it out with Granger to prod him along. Had the Order defeated Voldemort? Had Potter cleared his name? Was Potter dead and he was simply being held down here until they could send him to Azkaban? Or worse, had Voldemort won? Was he being held until the Dark Lord found some new way to torture and kill him since the snake hadn’t done the job?
“You’re awake.”
Snape turned his head toward the familiar voice and groaned. He was in hell. It was really the only explanation for Hermione Granger being in his rooms. He tried to sit up, it was too hard to be intimidating lying flat on your back and he wanted the girl out of his rooms immediately. He pushed himself up and frowned at the tingling sensation in his left arm. It ran all the way from his shoulder to his hand. Before he could more than register the new sensation his vision began to blur, a wave of nausea overtook him, and he was forced to lie back down.
