Entry tags:! intro, squeaky

Hello new friends! (Old friends, too?) I am Squeaky, and reading the contact page, I don't think I recognize any names. I am 31 and I live in Boise, Idaho. I am a professional dial tone. At least that's what the boss calls us. What I do is I do one-way transcription of phone calls for the hard-of-hearing, they talk on the phone to a friend, I supply closed captioning of what the friend says. It's pretty neat work most of the time. I am a hobbyist photographer and a World of Warcraft/Star Wars: The Old Republic addict. I will talk forever about my cats, so you've been warned (Salem is 12 and he's diabetic and grumpy, Binx is four and she's a spaz that I've had since she was a tiny baby, and they're both black and I love them.)

So! Taryn Howard is a school librarian in Hogsmeade, she's sort of quiet and keeps to herself, but she's got opinions about things. She was a seventh year Hufflepuff when the Twiwizard Tournament came to town, and as Heather already said, met the man of her dreams in History of Magic class (even though at the time she wanted to hit him with a book.) Speaking of books, they're her favorite thing in the world, she always has one on her person, and spends all her free time absorbed in them. She's Muggleborn, and, again as Heather said, spent the second war in Russia, hiding from the Muggleborn Registration thingie.

Um. I think that's everything about her for now. She needs friends and things, so throw them at me!

My AIM is WhereDoAngelsGo, so feel free to hit me up there. If I don't respond, it's because I'm on the call floor (cell phones aren't allowed for privacy reasons, but IJ is TOTALLY cool between calls), or you could email me/comment, that's a faster way to reach me.

GLAD TO BE HERE. :D

Plot with meeeeeeeee.

Hi Squeaky! I'm Patricia and I'm the mod here so we've talked a bit about George already. :)

I have way too many characters, so the best way to introduce them all is to link you to their blurbs, even though it needs a little updating in some points.

Anyway, here's for possible plots:

* Miles was a year below Taryn, but they probably kept bumping into each other a lot due to both being bookworms (in fact, he even "claimed" his own spot in the Hogwarts library). He will be friendly in his own, bizarre/obnoxious kind of way.

* Leah was too young to have any sort of school connection to Taryn, but I can see them getting along. During the summer she tutors Muggleborn children about to start Hogwarts (a Ministry program that started a few years ago), and she'd turn to someone connected to a wizarding school like Taryn for resources.

* Tiago was a member of the Beauxbatons delegation, and therefore attended the same classes as Taryn during the Triwizard year. He would have been friendly and charming because that's how he is.

* Hamish is sort of Muggleborn, as he only learned of his wizarding side of the family when he was twelve. He'll be friendly - but I hope she won't mind his occasional mangling of the English language due to his tendency to mix Gaelic and Scots into his sentences.

* Greg is functionally illiterate, so written communication might be difficult to decipher. He's been trying to turn his life around and reset his "programming", so she doesn't need to fear any purist/anti-Muggleborn speeches from him - in fact, he'll be polite and nervously shy.

* Jamie is a fellow Muggleborn Puff, five years her junior. He'll be nice.

* Samir is another Muggleborn Puff! He was in the year below Taryn, and was as loud as she's quiet, though thankfully too nice to be obnoxious in his loudness. He was studying in France when the Second War began, and is there still so he's using the journals as the perfect way of keeping in touch with everybody.

* Luna is... Luna. Therefore, she'll like Taryn and be nice to her whether she likes it or not. :P

* Cormac was loud and obnoxious at school, but fatherhood has calmed him down. He'll be friendly, but will occasionally still suffer from foot-in-mouth disease. He means well, though.

* Declan was also obnoxious when he was younger, but was perhaps too young for Taryn to have noticed him. He has completely turned his life around, though, and I think he and Taryn might get along well now.

* Zoe is another former housemate. Since Taryn worked at Flourish and Blotts for a while, she would have worked for Zoe's dad, Linus; Zoe is the shop's manager now. Zoe is recovering from a recent traumatic experience (she was under the effect of a very powerful love potion for over a year, and it has only now left her system), but she'll be happy to talk about books.

Welcome!

Goodness, that's an impressive number! Now I don't feel so bad for all the characters piping up in my head wanting to come out. :P

Miles: Haha, I'm sure she had a favorite corner of her very own, and let's hope it was a different one :P Friendly is good.

Leah: Oooooh, that would be excellent. Taryn would love to provide materials and help to the ickle Muggleborns.

Tiago: Sounds good. I think she was really happy to have the foreign students in her classes, even if sometimes cultural clashes were tough to get through.

Hamish: She's engaged to a man who speaks five languages, she's sort of used to things getting mixed up!

Greg: Aw, that's sort of adorable. She might have some leftover grumpiness over how he and his friends behaved in school, but she'll try to be forgiving and open.

Jamie: She probably vaguely remembers his face, then. Nice is good.

Samir: Woo! She'd probably actually quite like him, even if he exasperates her, haha. Frands?

Luna: I think Taryn can handle that. She'd probably find Luna delightfully bizarre.

Cormac: Taryn wouldn't probably have been terribly aware of him in school, and is too old to have been there for his big obnoxiousness, so she'd probably be okay with him now.

Declan: Oo, neat, can see how they get along :)

Zoe: Oo, nice, connection, I like that. And poor dear! Books are good, Taryn can do books, and anything else she might need, Taryn is a caring, nurturing sort, after all.

Maks is staring aghast at this sentence ;)

Oh come on, he's never, ever, not once mixed up languages when emotionally wound up?

You think he'd admit to it if he did? ;)

And I'm not even the record-holder for largest number of characters. We might have a small quantity of players, but we make it up on the quantity of characters - and the quality of both factors. :D

Samir: Definitely friends! He tried to make up for his excess of energy by making sure there were always Egyptian snacks in the common room, which I'm sure helped to soothe the exasperation a little.

Cormac: He was even worse as a firstie than he was as a seventh-year so trust me, it would have been hard for Taryn to have missed the obnoxious Gryffindor kid. :P
