Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:! intro, squeaky

Hello new friends! (Old friends, too?) I am Squeaky, and reading the contact page, I don't think I recognize any names. I am 31 and I live in Boise, Idaho. I am a professional dial tone. At least that's what the boss calls us. What I do is I do one-way transcription of phone calls for the hard-of-hearing, they talk on the phone to a friend, I supply closed captioning of what the friend says. It's pretty neat work most of the time. I am a hobbyist photographer and a World of Warcraft/Star Wars: The Old Republic addict. I will talk forever about my cats, so you've been warned (Salem is 12 and he's diabetic and grumpy, Binx is four and she's a spaz that I've had since she was a tiny baby, and they're both black and I love them.)

So! Taryn Howard is a school librarian in Hogsmeade, she's sort of quiet and keeps to herself, but she's got opinions about things. She was a seventh year Hufflepuff when the Twiwizard Tournament came to town, and as Heather already said, met the man of her dreams in History of Magic class (even though at the time she wanted to hit him with a book.) Speaking of books, they're her favorite thing in the world, she always has one on her person, and spends all her free time absorbed in them. She's Muggleborn, and, again as Heather said, spent the second war in Russia, hiding from the Muggleborn Registration thingie.

Um. I think that's everything about her for now. She needs friends and things, so throw them at me!

My AIM is WhereDoAngelsGo, so feel free to hit me up there. If I don't respond, it's because I'm on the call floor (cell phones aren't allowed for privacy reasons, but IJ is TOTALLY cool between calls), or you could email me/comment, that's a faster way to reach me.

GLAD TO BE HERE. :D

Plot with meeeeeeeee.

Hi Squeaky! I'm Patricia and I'm the mod here so we've talked a bit about George already. :)

I have way too many characters, so the best way to introduce them all is to link you to their blurbs, even though it needs a little updating in some points.

Anyway, here's for possible plots:

* Miles was a year below Taryn, but they probably kept bumping into each other a lot due to both being bookworms (in fact, he even "claimed" his own spot in the Hogwarts library). He will be friendly in his own, bizarre/obnoxious kind of way.

* Leah was too young to have any sort of school connection to Taryn, but I can see them getting along. During the summer she tutors Muggleborn children about to start Hogwarts (a Ministry program that started a few years ago), and she'd turn to someone connected to a wizarding school like Taryn for resources.

* Tiago was a member of the Beauxbatons delegation, and therefore attended the same classes as Taryn during the Triwizard year. He would have been friendly and charming because that's how he is.

* Hamish is sort of Muggleborn, as he only learned of his wizarding side of the family when he was twelve. He'll be friendly - but I hope she won't mind his occasional mangling of the English language due to his tendency to mix Gaelic and Scots into his sentences.

* Greg is functionally illiterate, so written communication might be difficult to decipher. He's been trying to turn his life around and reset his "programming", so she doesn't need to fear any purist/anti-Muggleborn speeches from him - in fact, he'll be polite and nervously shy.

* Jamie is a fellow Muggleborn Puff, five years her junior. He'll be nice.

* Samir is another Muggleborn Puff! He was in the year below Taryn, and was as loud as she's quiet, though thankfully too nice to be obnoxious in his loudness. He was studying in France when the Second War began, and is there still so he's using the journals as the perfect way of keeping in touch with everybody.

* Luna is... Luna. Therefore, she'll like Taryn and be nice to her whether she likes it or not. :P

* Cormac was loud and obnoxious at school, but fatherhood has calmed him down. He'll be friendly, but will occasionally still suffer from foot-in-mouth disease. He means well, though.

* Declan was also obnoxious when he was younger, but was perhaps too young for Taryn to have noticed him. He has completely turned his life around, though, and I think he and Taryn might get along well now.

* Zoe is another former housemate. Since Taryn worked at Flourish and Blotts for a while, she would have worked for Zoe's dad, Linus; Zoe is the shop's manager now. Zoe is recovering from a recent traumatic experience (she was under the effect of a very powerful love potion for over a year, and it has only now left her system), but she'll be happy to talk about books.

Welcome!

Goodness, that's an impressive number! Now I don't feel so bad for all the characters piping up in my head wanting to come out. :P

Miles: Haha, I'm sure she had a favorite corner of her very own, and let's hope it was a different one :P Friendly is good.

Leah: Oooooh, that would be excellent. Taryn would love to provide materials and help to the ickle Muggleborns.

Tiago: Sounds good. I think she was really happy to have the foreign students in her classes, even if sometimes cultural clashes were tough to get through.

Hamish: She's engaged to a man who speaks five languages, she's sort of used to things getting mixed up!

Greg: Aw, that's sort of adorable. She might have some leftover grumpiness over how he and his friends behaved in school, but she'll try to be forgiving and open.

Jamie: She probably vaguely remembers his face, then. Nice is good.

Samir: Woo! She'd probably actually quite like him, even if he exasperates her, haha. Frands?

Luna: I think Taryn can handle that. She'd probably find Luna delightfully bizarre.

Cormac: Taryn wouldn't probably have been terribly aware of him in school, and is too old to have been there for his big obnoxiousness, so she'd probably be okay with him now.

Declan: Oo, neat, can see how they get along :)

Zoe: Oo, nice, connection, I like that. And poor dear! Books are good, Taryn can do books, and anything else she might need, Taryn is a caring, nurturing sort, after all.

And I'm not even the record-holder for largest number of characters. We might have a small quantity of players, but we make it up on the quantity of characters - and the quality of both factors. :D

Samir: Definitely friends! He tried to make up for his excess of energy by making sure there were always Egyptian snacks in the common room, which I'm sure helped to soothe the exasperation a little.

Cormac: He was even worse as a firstie than he was as a seventh-year so trust me, it would have been hard for Taryn to have missed the obnoxious Gryffindor kid. :P

Hey Squeaky! I'm Alison. Your job sounds cool. Like, helping people without being too stressful. I'm a social worker, so I'm helping people, but they don't think I'm helpful and don't want to be helped, and a lot of them hate me, and it's incredibly stressful! Fun times. I also have a cat. She is called Beanie and she is new - not a kitten, but new to me. She's a calico and is very sweet and playful but her last home wasn't great so she is kind of weird and a real scaredy-cat. You can follow my adventures at my CDJ [info]fuckyeahbadgers.

If you think Patricia is crazy, wait till you see my roster: 15 characters and counting (I have another app in the works for Rachel Cooper). This is split over several intros if you want to check them out from the links.

Glenys

Glenys Smith Um. I think honestly, Taryn and Glenys need to be besties. I see no other option, sorry. I mean, they're dorm-mates, and they're stupidly nice, and they're Welsh, and they love children, and they're tall, and they're hard-working, and nurturing, and they grew up on farms. They're like pureblood/muggle-born, outgoing/quiet, practical/bookish twins.

Myron

Myron Wagtail says hey babe. He also loves books, but that's probably the only thing they have in common. Oh, wait! She worked at Flourish and Blotts, so will probably know him from that. Myron is Zoe's big bro.

Sally

Sally Spinks - I don't see much there, unless Taryn buys clothes in Sally's posh store. They were only a year apart in school, though, so they may recognise each other.

Lee and Yakov

Lee Jordan - my Lee intro there is a bit sparse, isn't it? Okay, so Lee is a big juicy enabler. He's not so much the one doing the pranks as the one offering suggestions and saying go onnn doooo ittttttt, hence his username. He loves Quidditch, and music, and spiders, and pretty girls, especially pretty girls who play Quidditch. Taryn is a pretty girl but I doubt she'd stand out particularly for him. She'll probably know who he is but they probably don't really know each other.

Yakov Poliakoff is friends with Maks, so they will definitely know each other! It's not in his intro there, but Yakov is a Russian Jew. He is currently living with Quentin Baddock, because Quentin lets him, and is between jobs, because Quentin lets him eat all his food. He's basically Quentin's pet at this point. I'm sure he will have stayed with Ivan at various points as well. He kind of bounces about to wherever people will let him.

Barney, Luke, Mel and Valentina

Valentina Moretti was another triwizard person, but from Beauxbatons. She's very shy, so they probably didn't really talk in classes etc. Now though, she works as an interpreter, so may end up becoming friendly with Maks, and then they might encounter each other. I think they'd get on pretty well.

Luke Hammonds was in her year and is also muggle-born, so they could be friendly? Update from his intro, he now lives with Sean Ackerley. He likes books too, but mainly sci-fi and fantasy.

Barney Dunstan is also in Hufflepuff, the year below. He'll be friendly. Again, he grew up on a farm, although it's used for breeding owls.

Mel Pennyfeather will also be friendly. She is a colleague of Maks because she works for the ICW, so they could know each other that way?

My job is pretty great, there's just very little (as in it's only happened once in almost three years) personal thanks from customers, and it's full of racists, but I do get a nice fuzzy feeling from helping people. And I get to watch Netflix between calls, so there's that :P

Glenys! Yes, bffs. Also, Taryn's little sister is named Glynne, so that's a thing. Um, how does Glenys feel about being maid of honor??!?!

Myron. She'd roll her eyes and remind him she's taken, thank you.

Sally. Recognizing is good.

Lee. Sounds good. We'll talk more about him when George cooperates. Ugh, he's lame. I've got about a million bios of his spread over three journals, and I just need to cobble the info together into a new bio that fits with this world, and I'm just freaking lazy.

Yakov. A friend of Maks's is a friend of hers, and Taryn would probably take it upon herself to want to help him get his feet. Whether he wants her to or not, heh.

Valentina. That sounds nice :) I don't know if Heather said, but I've got a Fleur kicking around my brains, so that could be a thing, but I should stop getting ahead of myself!

Luke. Friendly is good!!

Barney. Yeah, but there's got to be some solidarity there.

Mel. Sounds good!

Ah yes, I can imagine there could be a lot of racists around :-(

Glenys is totally down with being maid of honour! Now is the time I admit to having boards on pinterest for all of my characters' weddings, so you can tell I like imaginary weddings!

Aww George, I know the feeling when you have a bunch of bios, none of which will quite do on their own.

Yakov does not really want to be helped to his feet, but he is good-natured and if resisting is more effort than doing, she may have some success.

Ooh yes, Valentina would like to see Fleur around. She's the only Beauxbatons girl at present.

Part 2
[info]sweet_glenys
2015-10-25 05:39 pm UTC (link)
Jade, Lucy, Romilda, Evan, Alex, Dean

Dean will be nice, because he is, but they probably don't know each other.

Alex probably doesn't know her, but that won't stop him being an asshole if the opportunity arises. Update on the intro - he's back together with Vic and currently following her around Peru.

Evan doesn't really have any reason to interact with her.

Lucy Yaxley is a Puff but a few years younger. She would be nice to Taryn, but Taryn may have mixed feelings about her - see the intro. Let me know!

Jade Dorny won't really know her, but she is notorious at the moment for feeding Zoe Wagtail a love potion for, like.... well over a year. She'll be going to trial at some point. She also lives with Quentin Baddock now. Feel free to hate on her, everyone else does.

Romilda Vane probably doesn't have much reason to interact with her. She too works with children, so I guess if the school Taryn works for ever needs to hire a clown...?

Okay, now I am done, after that super short and brief comment, haha. Looking forward to playing with you!

Dean. Fair enough.

Alex. Oh dear. She has a pretty established bitch face and can probably weather his obnoxiousness pretty well.

Evan. Fair.

Lucy. Making me read stuff. Ugh. Okay, so, yeah, in school, she'd probably not have liked Lucy at all, but would appreciate the strides she's made after the war.

Jade. Haha, okay then!

Romilda. Probably has at some point or another.

I KEEP ACCIDENTALLY DELETING MY COMMENT HALF WAY THROUGH. AUGH.

Okay. Deep breaths. I also work in a call center as a booking agent and we have an absolutely archaic version of internet explorer and it is SO finicky. So because of that, I'm going to split up my character intros into several shorter comments.

The first and most relevant character I'd like to introduce is this fellow here. He hasn't been very active lately, but I'm hoping a new coworker (!!!) will wake him up a little.

Sean is a workaholic, because two jobs weren't enough apparently. He works as an intern in the library and gets paid a pittance for it. He's also Madame Sinistra's teaching aid, but again, he's paid almost nothing. He supplements his ego budget with being a stripper/bartender at our friendly neighbourhood strip club The Golden Snatch.

He would be five years her junior but he's a fellow hufflepuff, so they may have met. He has an older puff brother of yet-undetermined age, so maybe they would be in similar years? His older brother (named Kelly) is super nice and quiet and was a member of the Order of the Phoenix. He also has a baby brother who is canon named Stewart but there would be no overlap at all.

They may also have a connection through Sean's parents. Both of his parents were/are muggleborn rights activists. His mum went on the run but was eventually made wandless during the war, and his dad put up a good front for the purists but secretly made thousands of pamphlets and fliers calling Voldie a buttface. For real.

Meanwhile during the war Sean was in the IS, but he was in it mostly so he could swoop in and save halfbloods from the more vicious thugs.

I said I was going to write a short comment, but it's a sunday and I'm not getting very many calls, so...

Yeah, don't do that.

Oh man, I totally feel you on the IE thing. They only JUST upgraded us from version 9 to 11. Everything had stopped working because it was so old and it was just a nightmare.

Aaahahaha, Voldie is a buttface, I love it, and she would love it, too. I think she'd like Sean well enough, and wouldn't judge him for his alternate choice in careers. You do you, and all that. She's not at Hogwarts, but I imagine there is quite a lot of overlap, so they'd probably interact fairly often.

I love Sunday mornings, all the old people are in church, but then the afternoons hit and adult children are calling their elderly parents for their weekly 'how was your week did you hear about bethany how are your bowels?' conversation.

Okay, it's Max again. This is Gertie Goyle. Unlike her brother, she was raised in a foster home full of super accepting people! Her foster dad has taken in literally dozens of war orphans for temporary placement, and a few for permanent placement. He's like a crazy cat lady except with children, so I'm sure she has pupils from him. He's also Vic's dad (her intro to come soon).

Gertie is basically a smart-mouthed teenager, except that she's not a teenager anymore. She's working an unpaid internship at Witch Weekly, where she doesn't really fit in. She would rather work at the prophet, but she mentioned the fact that her dad wrote for the prophet in her application and they were like "you can't use a dead terrorist as a reference. DENIED." She dreams of winning whatever the wizard version of a pulitzer is.

Apparently I really like to give people internships and then supplement their income with "dirty" jobs, because Gertie's other job is writing super explicit woman-centric erotica. It's completely anonymous, though. She gets paid okay, and she just sneaks it in with Greg's money, and he doesn't notice because... Greg.

She worked for a while at Flourish and Blotts, so maybe they are aware of each other?

Hi there! I'm Julie and I have 8 characters for now... anyway I kind of suck at intros so if you need to know anything or whatever about any of them let me know.

Allegra: ([info]princessa) She's the younger sister of Marcus Flint; also a former Slytherin and was Head Girl in her final year... a former model and at the moment currently basking in motherhood. Eventually she'll be back in the workforce at some point and working in the same dept as her father and uncle, but until then you can expect most of her conversation and posts to be in some way related either to her kids or her partner. But she's nice. Honest.

Cassius: ([info]not_cassandra) Was brought up in a Pureblood household, but then found out he was actually a Halfblood - not that he cares cause he adores his faily, not that he'd say as such to his brother's face in those words. Most people probably thought he would've ended up going pro in Quidditch, but actually ended up becoming a Healer (although his training was interrupted by the war) and eventually specialised in Spell Damages. He's kind of a grumpy guss at the moment, but still friendly.

Kenneth: ([info]handsomefire) Poor guy had to be roommates with the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan at Hogwarts... but he survived. He was way socially awkward at school and is to some extent still very much that same boy, but he's a bit more confident in himself these days. Currently works for Zoe at Flouish and Blott's; although obviously well after Taryn was there.

Peter: ([info]unshirted) Muggleborn Gryffindor who's best is Jamie. They run a shop together. He's nice (and I suck at intros because my brain goes 'bzuh?')... also because it's a movie a love his little sister is the character Kelly Jones from the St Trinian's films.

Rémy: ([info]lemusicien) He was part of the Beauxbatons delegation... He's a musician and I think I last had him either prepping for a new tour or writing for a new album... Either way at the moment he's happy to be at home in the south of France and getting to spend time with Samir.

Sage: ([info]sagepuff) A Hufflepuff Halfblood, so fortunately more or less made it through Hogwarts during the Second War. She hasn't as yet found that career/job that speaks to her and has more or less kept afloat over the years doing odd jobs (mostly waitressing). She's also had to suffer the joys of having hippy parents; which is how she has 3 sisters named Parsley, Rosemary and Thyme. She's an easygoing friendly sort of person.

Su: ([info]hippy) Former Ravenclaw halfblood who (for the time being) still works as a Spell Inventor for the Committee of Experimental Charms. But given the degree of danger in the job and the subsequent birth of her daughter are causing her to rethink that particular career and look at moving into a job that's considerably safer. She's friendly and has a sense of humour (used to be a bit of a prankster).

Abigail: ([info]teaflower) My newest character... a former Slytherin who's related to the McLaggens and Lucy Yaxley. Although a Pureblood she's never held to the same beliefs as her father (the infamous Albert Runcorn); though her attitude probably used to come across that way. These days she's working in the administration side of WADA and is a lot better person then she used to be. She's probably not super friendly person, but she's certainly civil and polite.

Okay, this is Max again. I don't know how relevant the rest of my characters are.

Demelza (Demz) is an ex-Quidditch star who teaches games at a Muggle private school. Now that there's an in game primary school she may switch over, but her next career change is probably to get back into competitive athletics. She lives with Dean and a very large mountain dog named Cupcake.

Victoria is attached at the hip to Alex, and is currently in Peru. They're coming back soon, though, and more plot may be unfolding(‽).

And Quentin (this journal) is a seer with a super complicated storyline going on. He's a little overpowered for this game, but that happened completely on accident. He basically rocks so hard a legilimency that he can't actually turn it off. It's a problem, because he's currently housing Jade and she thinks really loudly.

That's all of mine for now.
