	Once Ernie received her return owl, he immediately grabbed his cloak and apparated over to Hannah's. He had been in a whirlwind since hearing the terrible news. It seemed unbelievable even if they had seen such tragedy previously. Had it been foolish to hope it was over? He did as instructed, going immediately to her room. He knocked. 	Hannah opened the door as soon as she heard Ernie's voice. She'd just slipped into her comfortable clothes and she felt like she wanted to just stay in for the rest of the week until the funerals took place. Ernie kept a hand at her back, not wanting to lose the physical closeness. It reminded him of how lucky he was to still have his loved ones near. It was bad enough losing classmates and those who had fought along side them. He felt like he had been kicked in the gut. "It won't happen again," he said angrily. "We won't let it. Ernie disentangled himself from Hannah, getting up to go look out the window. Granted, he had been called a "stick in the mud" by more than one individual, but...he really just couldn't wrap his mind around Hannah's news. "Why?" He watched a cat outside jump a fence and run away. Maybe the animal sensed the bad tidings flowing through the world? Ernie closed his eyes at the nonsensical thought. Hannah almost didn't hear the question. She curled her arms around herself, wishing she hadn't told him. She had to tell someone and she certainly wasn't about to tell Zach. He'd definitely have more of a negative reaction. "I...I don't know," she said, closing her eyes. "It...it just happened. New Year's Day with Susan and Richard and the same with Richard and Lavender. I know...I know it's not what I want now. I don't even know what I want. I just know that with people dying - people that I know, I don't want to be alone. I don't want to...regret anything." 	Ernie let his fingers fall through her hair. "Why the rush?" He supposed he felt lonely sometimes, but he had his family and work to occupy his time so he didn't tend to think much on his lack of love life. It would be nice, sure, but they were still young. (Reply to this)

She had him there. Even without recent events, who knew how short life was better than Hannah? The thought made Ernie very sad, but he plowed through, determined to be strong for her. "You know you have me and your father and loads of others, love." He moved to hold her again. "Can't that be enough for now? Rather than settle?" He'd hate to see anyone do that, least of all Hannah.
