Aspel had made it pretty clear that she didn't want to go out to dinner with him, but he figured that she would need to eat sometime, and it wasn't entirely fair that he'd been bringing food and fruit to Li at Li's whim. Which, really, suited Jareth fine; he was still wary of their presence despite wanting to stick to them like he used to, but he, more than anyone, knew that things changed. In this case, people changed.
Since coming to Emillion and discovering that this was where Aspel and Li had been the past few years, he hadn't sought them out. A difficult endeavor on his part, but a necessary one. The last thing he needed was people questioning their acquaintance - for his sake and theirs. It seemed like they had established themselves, disassociated themselves from the Guard. Aspel was fucking Council now. There was no way in hell he was ruining that for her.
And Li.... Well. The less he thought about Li the better.
Honestly, the less he thought about either of them, the better, but old habits were hard to break, and even if he didn't seek their attention outside of the ECN, he still couldn't help locking things to them, just to get them talking to him. They didn't seek him out - which, really, was no different than when they were in the Guard together - and now that he knew they were about, his entire body thrummed with the need to speak to them.
It was partially why he'd mentioned his ax; he'd seen Li far more frequently than he had Aspel, and while he cared for Li, he didn't feel complete without them both. Finding out that they barely spoke was difficult for him to comprehend; it was unfathomable.
He had never been to The Armory, though he had passed by on occasion on his way from one place to another. He had stopped by a local grocer and picked up a fresh loaf of bread and some fruit, and headed over. Hesitating, he entered the foyer and looked around, trying to see if he could spot Aspel.
