He rolled the small box back and forth in his hands. It wasn't really made for rolling, the shape didn't work well for that and it didn't feel pleasant, like rolling a ball between your hands. Certainly, it didn't hurt, it was just a box, a wrapped box, but even then... Sighing, a hand rose, scrubbing over his face, and the hairs from his five o'clock shadow bit into the skin of his hand before it slipped up, fingers rubbing at his eyes and then wiping back and forth over the short cropped hair. The festival was done, and this week had been more calm than not, thankfully. There had been a heavy influx at the clinic's he helped out at during the festival and then there were the Fighters Guild exhibition matches and trying to keep up with Quen and his Ma, making sure they got out to enjoy what few things that might interest them. Then, of course, Monday had been a disaster, people flooding in from all over the place due to having drank too much, or having done something stupid while drunk the night before. Darius was pretty sure he had cause more cure spells and Esuna's than any other day in his life... But then again, that was after every festival end. His first year being a full fledged White Mage, he'd barely made it through everything conscious and then slept for a good solid day, nearly worried everyone sick. He'd been much more careful about flexing his magical muscles since then though. However, with all these people running around and in need of healing, he'd been neglecting the people who needed him most lately. Which, he felt like a complete ass about. Sure, they'd probably understand, hell, they probably expected it at this point but... That never made him feel any better. With that, he stood from his bed and exited his room, taking the box with him. It was only a couple flights of stairs and a few hallways that separated his room from Quen's but a rising sense of dread and frustration grew with each step, making it feel that much more intense. However, before long, he was in front of his little sister's door. Another sigh would slip out, his head hanging as a hand raised and knuckles rapped against the door. "Hey Quen, it's me. Can I come in?" |
