This year's parade somehow seems bigger than last year's.

Maybe it just seems that way because the Mistakes were involved in the behind the scenes this year and didn't just stumble into the middle of the road with floats heading toward you. Then street vendors are out in force, offering ice cream, hot dogs, and lobster rolls. Even the lobster mascot seems a little friendlier this year.

The town shuts down for the duration of its Lobstrosity Parade. Yes, even Craig "don't be lazy" Toomey lines the sidewalks with a hop in his step. Tourists have come from all around the Massachusetts area to take part. It seems downright homie, especially now that you've been living here for a year. Does the marching band waving flags with a lobstrosity on it comfort you or creep you out more than it did last year? The drum corp dressed as lobsters, wearing leftovers from last year (and the year before), bang away as they smile wide. The crowd cheers everyone on.

The Tommyknocker Theatre Troupe has dressed up as clowns from various time periods this year, and all of them have a red balloon. A&C Salvage have several cars, including a 1958 Plymouth Fury in autumn red, showing off their classic beauty. Alpha Pets is walking their therapy dogs who are just about the goodest boys you ever did see. Even Roxxcart is on the action this year, with people in anthropomorphic costume versions of their Kablooie candy and Nozz-A-Cola.

Tammy Smith, clad in lobstrosity red and lots of tulle, sits atop a float while four large pigs scarf the slop at her feet. She's working hard to keep that smile on her face, even as the overlarge pigs occasionally chew on the end of her dress.

And yes, there's still something unsettling about it.

It seems like everyone is at this parade. What about you? Did you go to see if any new faces would show up en mass the way they did last year? Try talking to some new people.

Abra volunteered to be in the parade because one of her teachers, Ms. Walker, is giving out extra credit for it. She's walking her dog Brownie and he's wearing a lobstrosity costume. Her teacher suggested she wear a chef's costume and she refused, not wanting to imply in any way that she would cook her dog. Instead, she agreed to carry a lobstrosity purse, filled with candy - lobster shaped gummy candy, lobster-shaped lollipops and lobster-flavoured hard candy - to hand out to parade watchers. She will hand people any candy they want, but she will warn against the lobster flavoured ones. Brownie loves attention from parade watchers.

Abigail was there, handing out pamphlets on "How to keep lobstrosity encounters safe for humans and lobstrosities." to parade watchers, because she was asked to by her job. At some point, a few locals started bothering her about what she said in the pageant and she left.

Ruby wasn't in the parade, but standing outside of Tower of Pizza at a little food booth and selling slices to parade watchers. She was wearing her 'costume' from the pageant, without the claws so she could use her hands and depending on the weather, with a red coat over it.

Eddie was not in the parade and not planning to watch it. He happened to see someone fall through a bank window, rushed over to help them up and somehow got caught up in the crowd of people watching it. Maybe it's a tradition for him to help someone at this parade thing. He is very freaked out about the clowns with the balloons.

Tobias, in his lobstrosity morph, definitely gave both Abigail and Ruby cheerful waves and attempted to approach, giving fair warning to both telepathically that it was him and not a threat. The crowd was difficult to navigate from his current height so he missed Abra and Eddie.

Nick Valentine, while not babysitting the bank directly, was in a good position to mind it all the same. At the fuss, he hurried over to see what was going on and if he could help.

Ruby would wave him over, put her costume 'claws' back on and asked for a selfie of the two of them. Abigail would have asked him about he's dealing with the food instincts, remembering way back when she morphed a lobstrosity during the swap. Abra could sense he's close and might have sent him a mental image of Brownie in his costume if he would want to see it.

Eddie would thank Nick for his help after they've made sure the other person was okay, and then asked Nick if he was seeing the clowns with red balloons too.

Malachi Allen was prevented from going because this parade occurred during daylight hours. Bummer. Someone save him some lobster flavored candy so he can prank his co-workers with them.

Really, Nico di Angelo was only there because he had no idea what he was getting himself into. And it's going to have been a while since he simultaneously experienced so mundane and weird at the same the time, so he stayed put as one of the onlookers, and watched the proceedings with a bemused look on his face.

Lastly, Data was there to further his (anthropological) research, and watched it with detached fascination. However, those who stopped to converse with him would've found themselves interrupted by the occassional 'da-da-chum>/i>'. Sounds like he's trying to get into the spirit of things.

Tobias went and got himself a Lobstrosity morph. Partially to understand how they think/act, partially because of the obsession that took the town.

He found himself scuttling down towards mainstreet mid-parade, wrangling the mindlessness just in time to clack his claws cheerfully at a few squealing kids. Before he knew it he was scuttling alongside one of the floats, sheltering in the shade it cast and gratefully bobbing at the crowd members who dumped cups of water over him, giving him a refreshing relief from the sun. It turned into a game as the cups were dumped and he'd haphazardly turned around to clack his claws in gratitude, then turned to scuttle after his more regular shelter as it moved down the road.
