[Thanks to the wonders of technology, the only thing in this entry are several links to pictures in a digital photo album. The pictures are out of focus, hardly done with a practised hand, but the objects in them are more than visible. Photographs of photographs, old ones by the look of it. Laughing teenagers, teenagers in a graveyard in New Orleans, a boy and a girl. The fashions date them from early 80s easily. No writing accompanies the pictures.]

Oh. [...] I'm sorry. That must have been really hard. Dieu, that doesn't sound like enough, but I don't know what to say more than that. Sorry?

You've no reason to apologise to me, Wren.

[...] You speak French?

Oui. Fluently. My maman always spoke French at home. Did you talk to her at all after she left New Orleans?

Our family is French. My parents came over before they had Quentin and I. We spoke French at home as well. And no, I did not. I studied abroad for a while, and then went to university. I honestly - I haven't spoken to her since shortly after you were born.

Things didn't go very well for her in Florida. [...] What did you study, if you don't mind my asking?

Can I ask what happened?

History. Always been interested in old things, I guess.

She became a prostitute. She was killed when I was thirteen.

History. I like that. Maman used to take us into antique stores all the time when I was little. She loved old things. She thought they were romantic.

[...] I'm sorry for your loss, Wren.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I got into antiques. The history in things always fascinated me.

It was a long time ago.

Are you married? Do you have children? I guess that's kind of a question about history.

No, not married. No children that I know of. Just me, myself, and I.

Yourself?

But you're on here, which means you have a journal - a book, or a phone?

If there's ever anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to let me know. Other than my shop, I've a lot of time on my hands.

It's a paper journal. Fitting. Though I've recently acquired an iPad after being told I live too far in the past.

In forty years, I've hard my share of troubles. Whatever this place brings, I'll figure out a way to work through it, somehow.

When you've a free moment, I'd like to see you. If you don't mind. I've some pictures you might like to have.

There's no rush at all. You let me know what you're comfortable with. I've called Vegas home for a couple years, and I don't believe I'll be going anywhere for many more.

I have a shop off the strip, if you ever want to stop by. Patch Antiques.
