[Gotham's Peace Department falls first. And, let's face it, that doesn't take very long at all. Pheromones and handcuffs, and the little keepers of the peace are all trussed naked at their desks by 10:15 p.m. Their little squad cars are all flat and empty, and the phones ring and ring and no one can answer them.

Why? Good question.

Maybe it has something to do with Gotham Bank, and the fact that three women emptied it out, while leaving more naked cops in their trail? Or maybe it's the trussed up workers at the museum, the ones vowing their love to plants while some precious artifacts are gone, gone? Or maybe it's the three very, very wealthy Gotham families that just lost some very, very old jewels, and who are covered in hyena slobber?

Or, and this is the most likely, maybe it's the zoning office, where the plans for the demolition of one of Gotham's last natural habitats is being planned? After all, the place is going up into the Gotham night like fireworks.

And anyone who turns on the comms? They can hear three very familiar voices. The girls are broadcasting on all channels, and they're just getting started. Oh, and they're helpfully setting themselves to transcribe to the journals. They're sweet that way.]

[A sigh.] Alright. [...] We come from different worlds. I suppose I should start there. In mine, you didn't exist. In yours, I was a different Bat. In the very, very beginning, you were younger and we didn't know each other very well. I wasn't the man you remembered and you were little more than a stranger to me. [Pause.] There's a lot of time to cover, but [...] things were always complicated. Not just between us, but overall. I had a family thrust upon me that I didn't know, and who didn't know me, and there was very little trust. You and I took a while to warm up to each other, but eventually we did. [...] There was a plague. You almost died, and Tony Stark did, along with countless others. We recovered, but barely. [Sigh.] And then you went back. Back to your Gotham, and when you returned, I didn't recognize you right away. You can imagine how well that went over. [Pause, then, to get a feel for how she's reacting.]

Not like anyone I'd known before. And I believe you stopped comparing me to your Bruce somewhere along the line. We [...] started to trust each other. And we were together, once. [Oh, so vague.] Seven years. I suppose I was expecting the you I remembered. And when you came back, you were working for an organization that called themselves the Justice League of America, a sort of counteractive measure to the actual Justice League. The one I was meant to be a member of. I didn't know, not at first, but I found out. [...] I wanted to help. I knew you wouldn't betray me, not like they wanted you to.

[Sigh.] And then you and the other JLA members were arrested. There was a breakout and, afterward, you stayed at the Manor for a very short period of time. You were on the run, and you went to Marvel for a while. Before-- [Pause.] Before you willingly joined the Suicide Squad to help gather intel.

That explains why Jaybird's angry that he didn't know what was happening. Aren't you used to telling them yet? [The, quiet.] Seven years is a long time. If I didn't tell you I was older, then you couldn't know. But [with something like a fond smile in he voice] I could see how that might hurt my feelings slightly. [Almost reluctantly curious.] Did you like me better when I was younger? [And the whole Justice League/Justice League of America thing makes her frown.] I wouldn't betray you, Bruce. I don't care what Edward says about me, I wouldn't do that.

[A very long pause.] The Suicide Squad doesn't sound like an organization that specializes in happy endings.

Yes and no. The instinct to do it myself still exists. There was [...] something I didn't tell him about before, something I'll get to, and I'm sure he's still upset about that. In this instance, I wasn't sure if he was still under the drug's influence of not. [Hint of a smile.] Yes. I clued into the truth too late, and I didn't do a very good job of explaining myself afterward. I rarely ever do. [Thoughtful pause.] At first, I'll admit, I missed the younger you. But it was still you, and I realized that. [Not fond, exactly, he keeps it from going there, but it's close.] I know.

[Grimly.] No. It doesn't. There is no out. What you hadn't counted on, when you joined, was them implanting a bomb in your head. A way to keep you in line, I suppose. You didn't tell me, not right away. I was-- [A hitch of breath.] I was dealing with a loss, and you and Nigma decided to keep me out of it. The government was building Watchtower, a sort of space station, along with a man named Lex Luthor, and you were gathering information on it. When I found out, I was furious. You'd already told Tony, and he was working on a way to get it out, but it could have been detonated at any moment. So I, along with some others, began to devise a plan to get Watchtower from Luthor before he could get it into orbit. [Solemn.] And now comes the part you'll hate me for.
