Let's see. Tony says I had brain surgery recently. He says my cold is probably a serious complication. He also says you and I were never together, and he mentioned dying of some plague. Eddie, Eddie thinks we all decided that we wanted to be brainwashed or something equally hard to believe. He has a little theory about turning off the lights that's troubling, and he swears that he and Stephanie don't love each other. He's also very concerned about Em and death and riddles. So, nothing you say can be any stranger than that.

But I'll tell you the same thing I told Edward. If it's true, then who's to say this isn't better than whatever was here before? Anyway, he says it can't all be a lie. That there has to be truth to it, but he doesn't know how much. He thinks we're all supposed to be learning a lesson.

It's still here, Selina. There is no before. Our perception doesn't change reality. In a lot of ways this is better, yes, but what does it matter if it's a lie? [...] Eddie hasn't put the pieces together yet. He doesn't see the truth. Maybe we can all learn something from this, but I guarantee you that was not the intention of the man responsible.

Eddie sees that if he concentrates on things the facade goes away and everything is ugly and broken. But who's to say that the ugly broken thing isn't the lie? Maybe we're supposed to be questioning our reality. Maybe that's what this is.

And if this is better, why can't we just leave it? Why can't we just be grateful for the change and leave it?
