[Not long after he gets back to Vegas, Thursday morning (the wee-ish hours).]

[Max M]
[Via work email, as always. Short and sweet, not even a wayward "Sir".]

I'm back.

[There's a delay from when the cursor glows to life and when he finally writes something.]

Tell me your Christmas was better than mine.

A taxi back to the airport worked just fine.

[Almost defensive, not that the tone carries very well over the email.] I stayed for dinner. Had some conversations. It was more than long enough.

Another day in enemy territory. I'm used to it by now. At least no one tries to physically blow me up when I'm in Texas, so that goes into the positives column.

[He sends the email and then rereads it. Another one follows the first shortly.]

Sorry, Sir, that email was hardly appropriate. I'll be in in the morning and I'll have [...] things better in hand.

Kid, I possibly have the worst relationship with my parents that is known to man. At ease.

Right now I'm feeling like I might win that contest, but it's probably because it's so recent.

[...] What time are you going to need me in the morning? I'm probably going to have a beer or two too many and maybe invite someone over what the fuck and I don't want to be drag-assing my way into work late.

Eh, it was alright. Got turned into a kid and had to go home and get scolded about a DUI over a giant goose, what the fuck, I lead one surreal ass life.

Babycakes? [Written to buy himself time to come up with something, though he winces at "daddy".]

Or Cakesbaby. I don't know how your people pronounce it.

It was a party, really. Fucked up kids and weird abuse shit. Like an after school special. Now, you.

I'd have to say neither. I don't think I've ever heard anyone back home say either.

Wait, was that at home or the hotel? And before you answer, no I don't know which would be worse.

Then I rocked you with a good one. Something to be proud of.

At the hotel, not at home. You kidding? I grew up in a weird home schooled rich kid New York type environment, wanting for nothing, workaholic daddy, all that shit.

I have been rocked.

How am I supposed to know? The more I read on here, the more I have no clue how people grew up. For all I know, you were raised in a cage until you hit highschool.

They called me 'Wonder Boy' and charged paying rubes tickets to come see the cage.

And don't think I didn't notice you avoid the damn question. Quid pro quo, bitch. What happened?

How long have you been out? Adjusting well?

Damn, you're onto me. Nothing happened. I was younger and had no idea where I was. Ran into a kid and his little sister at a park. It was like running into me, but he had less sisters and less money.

Is that why you're approaching random guys on here to ask about their camping habits? Trying to adjust?

He was younger and smaller and I'm pretty sure I could have outrun him if I'd needed to. Lunch money still in my own possession. [...] Thanks for the concern, though.
