Who: Kozue and people and the beach

It was the first day of the beach trip, and Kozue had already staked out her spot on the sand—here was the lounge chair she had dragged out, here her towel spread across the chair, there her things in a large bag, and, most importantly, Kozue herself, prepared to tan and look fabulous and relax, relax, relax.

(Of course her swimsuit was geared more towards show off, show off, show off, but you don't want chunky tan lines, now do you?)

	Kanaye had decided to get a work out, and so he walked out of the house wearing a pair of swimming trunks. He grinned at the two girls. "Hey, Kozue-chan, Misaki-san! Looking good!" he said as he dashed into the water. After a couple of practice strokes, he looked over at them. "You guys coming in, or just sunbathing?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Kozue leaned forward slighty, looking up at Misaki and then across to Kanaye; "What do you think I'm doing?" The question was accompanied by a laugh; her, swim? Certainly not this early in the day. She hadn't even begun to get heated up enough to hop into the water. Now, when someone brought out a floating tube or a beach ball or something, she'd make an appearance in the surf. For now, it was sun time.

She looked up at Misaki, and, "You're welcome to join me," she affirmed with a nod. "S'a public--- well, actually it really is a private beach but it's Satou-kun's, so." That got a laugh; she didn't look to Kanaye to see how he'd respond to the more familiar address, though she wanted to.

Kouchisei walked towards the figure from across the beach, leaving footprints in the sand and scrunching his nose slightly as he got closer sand and saw it wasn't one person but three. He was not scared of company - it was just being amongst people was less relaxing than feeling the rest of the world was empty.

It was not a problem, he reminded himself. After all, they knew each other. It didn't matter much what the rest of the world did so long as they had their own private part of it. The matter was settled by a memory of a beach vacation with his parents; they would relax and talk and laugh, and he would run from the waves and at them as they retreated.

And Kozue was never really one for family life. Just because she did not want it did not mean she was right, though. He was doing his best to make her see sense, even if things did not last she would at least learn from the experience. Sacrifices had to be made.

Even talking to his father and getting his agreement to study medicine had not been an ample reward. He rubbed his head and sighed.

With a book in his other hand, he waited by the lounge chair.

"Do you mind company?" he asked.

Misaki waved to Kanaye as he rushed past. "Ah...not right now Senpai. I'm going to just hang out here for now," Or even later, she thought shuddering in her mind about ocean water. How anyone could willingly get into water that had so much stuff floating around in it was beyond her. She turned her attention to Kozue then and nodded.

"Thank you Kozue-chan," Misaki layed out her towel and sat down next to her. "Have you seen Keiikun recently? I...I wasnted to talk to him for a bit?" She was going to add more to it when Kou walked over and she shut up.

"Oh good day Oubai-senpai. How are you?"

"Fine. I was talking to Kondo-san."

He turned his back on Misaki, thinking about how crowded it was as he cast his gaze around and saw too many people blocking the light. It was too loud now and would be even later. He could not focus enough to read when there was an audience. It made him tense, bone-numbed, worryful. He unzipped his holdall - spreading his towel horizontal from the lounger, he imagined the pleasantness of Misaki and her friends being absent.

There was no problem with this. Couples sat together. His parents had done it. He did not see why two people who were close needed permission.

It made it a nicer holiday. More comfortable.

He looked back at Kozue and remarked, "You look nice." It was the polite thing to do.
