It was only 10am but Suzuki Suzume, big sister and/or energetic bane of everyone everywhere, had been up since 5. Which had, of course, likely been horrible for her roommate.

She'd sent out constant text messages since 7, with 'how to get there from pretty much anywhere in Iburi using public transport' instuctions, and arranged for Seiko to drive people who might have trouble with the train. She'd been trying to barter the entry prices down since 8, since they were a big party, and managed to get at least a small discount. After which a 'hey, say you're with Suzusuzu-nee and you'll get in cheaper' message went out. And she'd been blowing up and tying balloons since 9.

And now it was 10. And the park was open. And she'd been doing stretches and encouraging those who were there early to do likewise (warm up those muscles! The water might be cold!).

And now it was time to reap the rewards of her efforts.

Kozue in a swimsuit.

Awesome.

	After he was done talking with Seiko, Kanaye started to look around for his other favorite people. First on his list was Maeko. He had no idea what her swimsuit would look like, but he had a feeling he'd like it. Of course he would, Maeko was wearing it! Eventually, he found someone who looked like her, and decided to walk over. "Maeko-chan?" he asked. (Reply to this) (Thread)

When the girl turned around it became clear that she was not Maeko. For a start, she wasn't calling anything stupid.

"Um, sorry. I think you must have the wrong person..." She said, staring at Kanaye for a second and then leaving in the direction of some other firls who were waving to her with a quiet 'Please excuse me'.

Actual Maeko wasn't far away, though, but Kanaye could hardly be faulted for not noticing her because she was almost totally underwater except for the top of her head, glaring at a large slide that loomed above the pools and blowing bubbles and occasionally coming up for air.

Stupid slide thinks it's so great. I'll show it. I'll climb right up there and slide the hell out of it. Stuid dumb big slide-

Her train of angry thought was interrupted by Kanaye adressing her (well, adressing someone else, but it was her name.) and she turned and pulled herself up out of the pool far enough to speak.

"Over here, senpai!"

Kanaye blinked. "Oh, sorry. My fault..." Kanaye heard actual Maeko, though, and turned. He walked over to her and smiled. "Sorry, Maeko-chan! She looked like you, but I should've known. She wasn't quite as good looking as you!"

He smiled and laughed. "Speaking of good looking, you're looking especially cute today, Maeko-chan! I like the skirt. Pink's really your color, too!" He got into the water. "How do you like my trunks? I like orange, but I'm not sure if I'm going to be keeping them for the beach trip..."

"It's not a problem." Maeko said, lowering herself back into the water and half-resuming her task of staring down the slide as if expecting it to give up and surrender.

She'd taken to shrugging too compliments more easily than she shrugged off insults. Which was probably good because the direction the conversation was already going in had her hiding her face in the water again and communicating in bubbles in embarassment. It was just somehow improper to talk about what was essentially underwear.

"Thank you, Kondo-san helped me to pick it out." She said between gasps for air when she finally surfaced. "She'd probably be able to help you out more with that than I can."

"Huh? It's just warm is all." Maeko said, bobbing up and down. "And I don't really get to go swimming much. I'm still kind of practicing."

Why she had chosen one of the deeper pools to practice in was anyone's guess. She seemed to at least have not drowning covered, thankfully. But she was not getting anywhere fast.

"They're, um, very orange...I guess?" She said unhelpfully.

"I don't need saving!" Maeko snapped, almost on instinct, pouting. "It's not like I've going to drown or anything, see?"

As if to demonstrate how undrownable she was, she pushed away from the wall and resumed her bobbing up and down uselessly where she ended up, a few feet away. She wasn't quite sure right now how she was going to get out but she was certainly displaying adaquetely that she wasn't drowning.

Deciding it a mature and appropriate solution to the 'not sure how I will get back to the wall' situation, she splashed water at Kanaye and pouted again.

"It...suits you? I guess?" Maeko really had no idea if it did or not. But it was a loud colour and Kanaye was loud.

	Kanaye laughed. "Well, I can certainly see that. Sorry for doubting you, but considering how cute you look when you pout, I might try to do it more often!" The 'cute' comment only prompted more respond-with-flustered-bubbles followed by more splashing. Followed by a few seconds of glaring at the stupid water. It was much easier to control the bobbing up and down closer to the wall.

Finally regaining control over her floating, she splashed some more.

"Huh? Thanks. I guess Kondo-san's really good at knowing this stuff."

	Maeko stopped her splashing at the 'Kozue is cute' comment, instead using her arms to keep herself afloat. She decided it wasn't worth responding to. "Huh? It's been...normal? So far? Bus. Train. Maeko bobbed up and down some more, either nodding or trying to keep her head above water. "It's fun. Different, at least. It's kind of weird not having feet on the floor."

"Um, not properly, no. I get a swimsuit every few years and I really mean to but- every time I've meant to something else comes up. Lessons aren't mandatory at Nanakamado, either, so this is kind of the first time I've tried."
