Who: Seiko and Kanaye
What: Eating cake and talking.
Why: Seiko thinks Kanaye's wellbeing is her business.
When: After the Maeko mess and the Beach invite.
Where: Kanaye's dorm.

Seiko stood outside Kanaye's dorm room balancing a cake in one hand to knock on his door. She wasn't a brilliant cook, so she had got a shop bought cake, though in a school like this with wealthy students 'shop bought' meant 'bought from an expensive exclusive patisserie'. She sighed.

"Kanaye-kun its me open up!"

Seiko sat down next to Kanaye setting the cake down on his desk, "Its from that nice place in town, the French one, so it should be nice, I'd have made it myself if I didn't burn food so often..." she trailed off a little with a rueful smile.

"Thing is Kanaye-kun you seemed to really love her, it may not be best to bottle it all up if it does hurt?" she shrugged. "But if you feel fine then thats great! I just worry about you sometimes..."

	"Oh, I love that place! I go there all the time." Kanaye grinned. "Don't worry, Seiko-chan, I can't cook either." He was silent for a bit before answering. "Oh, don't worry Seiko-chan! Sure, I loved her, but if she didn't ever want to be with me then it's kind of pointless to try to get back to her? I should just move on." He nodded, smiling. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Its chocolate mostly because thats my favorite, but also because he said he had some new Belgian chocolate in." she smiled and patted her stomach. "My figure can go to hell if chocolate is involved."

She stayed silent as Kanaye spoke, surely he was lying, no one recovered that fast from things like that, not even Seiko herself. She didn't want to push him, but if he just pretended things were okay it would hurt him in the end.

"She did want to be with you Kanaye-kun, she told me so. At least you can remember that she did love you." she patted his shoulder.

"Oh, Belgian chocolate? Excellent choice, Seiko-chan!" He shook his head and laughed. "Don't worry, Seiko-chan. You look as good as ever, and trust me, you'll be getting in a lot of exercise in that place."

"Well, she lied to you then. She told me she was planning on leaving me. Sorry, Seiko-chan, but I believe her over you." Kanaye sighed. "No, no she didn't. She...I don't even know." He laughed. "Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk."

"Thank you." Seiko said slightly embarassed to get complimented when that was not what she had intended.

"She just seemed so happy,if she was lying then..." Seiko sighed. "Everyone lies, but sometimes it is hard to know what the lie actually is. Is it not possible she is lying about planning to leave you?" she lent back some her face full of genuine concern.

"But maybe even if you have...moved on from caring about her, her leaving hasn't made you feel bad about yourself or anything?" for once her usually cheerful face looked worried.

	"Nah, she was telling the truth. I can't stand me sometimes, and I...." He sighed. "I just messed up really badly. I want to make it up to her but I don't think I can..." Seiko stared at Kanaye, trying to fight her overwhelming desire to hug him, because his words just seemed so sad. No one should feel that way about things surely?

"We all mess up Kanaye-kun, we are only human, but Maeko-san does come across as the kind of person who maybe won't be that forgiving." Seiko sighed "You shouldn't feel like that about yourself, you are a good person really Kanaye-kun."

She smiled again and motioned towards the cake. "Do you want some?"

	"She isn't. I mean..." He sighed. "I just want to make her love me again. I'd be fine if we're just friends. But I had to be stupid..." He shook his head. "Sorry for doing this, Seiko-chan. It's my problems..." His head shot up so fast he winced. "Cake? Of course I want cake!" Kanaye said with a laugh. "Why wouldn't I want some cake? Thanks, Seiko-chan!" 	"You are my friend, so I don't mind listening to your problems if it will make you feel a little better." Seiko replied with a shrug. "Kanaye-kun things will turn out okay in the end, whatever happens, I refuse to let it go any other way." she grinned. "Ah cool, do you have a knife or anything I can use to slice it up?" 	Kanaye paused a bit before brightening up and hugging Seiko. "Thanks, Seiko-chan! It's good to have friends!" He laughed and let her go. "Well, alright! I guess I'll have to be happy, then!" Seiko smiled and hugged Kanaye back. "Everything would be a lot easier if people could accept their differences and get on. I know they won't, unfortunately I can't be as idealistic as some of out teammates, but..." she grinned. "I'm glad to be your friend though Kanaye-kun, you are a good person."

She raised an eyebrow, did Kanaye just keep knives lying around his room? Surely that wasn't safe... "Ah thank you." she took the knife and proceeded to cut two generous slices. "There you go." she trilled.

"Generally horrible? I'd not say that, a fair few are nice people, you just get some that aren't, or some that are only nice to certain people." she sighed and looked down at her cake. "And thank you." she added in response to his praise.

"Kanaye-kun, sometimes it seems like you aren't that used to people being nice to you. I mean I'm not doing much that your other friends wouldn't."

She grinned as she ate her cake, "The French really do do it best...."

Kanaye sighed. "I doubt it."

"Not really. Toru and Kozue are nice people, great people, but they...don't understand. You're...special. Different. I guess because...I dunno. You went through something like this before or something? I mean, Toru's in a relationship, and Kozue is...Kozue..." He sighed. "Well, you're all nice in your own way."

Kanaye laughed. "Yeah, don't they? I almost wish I was half-French, not half-English sometimes. French is sexier, right?" He grinned.

"You get different things from all your friends, its important to have some variety. Not only that but as your elder I clearly have much needed wisdom!" she smiled playfully.

She paused for a moment trying to remember any French she knew then smiled. "Oui! French is fairly sexy but...English is just...I don't know it just seems cooler somehow. I mean they have all this culture and London! I really want to go!" she sucked icing off her thumb absentmindedly.

"I'm a lot wiser I'll have you know! Maybe not academically of course, but in the ways of the world I know many things, mostly through regrettable experience." She laughed too.

"It would be fun to go to England, I really want to see London and 'Big Ben' and their Queen-" she paused thoughtfully. "But no worries my stepfather will pay for me, he likes to give me stuff." she grinned and giggled.

"It would be so cool though! I want to see so many things there!" she bounced slightly with a huge grin.

"Experience, probably, but regrettable? That still sounds like a lot of fun, in my opinion." He shrugged. "To each their own, apparently."

He laughed and shook his head. "No no no, Seiko-chan! I'll pay for it, I've got a lot of money and it's not like I'm using most of it. It'll be my treat. I could probably invite Tom, and Kozue, too! I'm sure they'd love to be in a place where no one cares about our looks!"

"Regrettable because it meant I missed actually learning things. A little fun won't kill you or cause regret but too much gets in the way of life going on, unfortunately." she tilted her head thoughtfully thinking for a few moments. "Fun can still be regrettable."

"But then I'd owe you forever!" she pouted. "Oh invite Kozue! She's awesome!" she put a finger to her chin in thought. "Not really met Tom properly yet unfortunately, but he seems really kind."

"I just think it'd be nice to have a job where you are important enough to have a suit...maybe a tie..." she sighed and smiled looking wistful as this was a small fantasy of hers, to have a job where she was respected for working hard and being useful. "I've never been in love though, so I don't know what it is like." she added.

"I don't! I have no reason to, I just tell people what I think of them!"
