Who: Seiko and Kanaye
What: Eating cake and talking.
Why: Seiko thinks Kanaye's wellbeing is her business.
When: After the Maeko mess and the Beach invite.
Where: Kanaye's dorm.

Seiko stood outside Kanaye's dorm room balancing a cake in one hand to knock on his door. She wasn't a brilliant cook, so she had got a shop bought cake, though in a school like this with wealthy students 'shop bought' meant 'bought from an expensive exclusive patisserie'. She sighed.

"Kanaye-kun its me open up!"

"Regrettable because it meant I missed actually learning things. A little fun won't kill you or cause regret but too much gets in the way of life going on, unfortunately." she tilted her head thoughtfully thinking for a few moments. "Fun can still be regrettable."

"But then I'd owe you forever!" she pouted. "Oh invite Kozue! She's awesome!" she put a finger to her chin in thought. "Not really met Tom properly yet unfortunately, but he seems really kind."

"I just think it'd be nice to have a job where you are important enough to have a suit...maybe a tie..." she sighed and smiled looking wistful as this was a small fantasy of hers, to have a job where she was respected for working hard and being useful. "I've never been in love though, so I don't know what it is like." she added.

"I don't! I have no reason to, I just tell people what I think of them!"

"Ah listening to people's problems will make me worry too much I think." she sighed. "I guess I care too much sometimes, but everyone is important you know?"

"Someone will love you Kanaye." she said gently, dropping the honorific for a sense of familiarity to comfort him, rather than being impolite. "I suppose it is just the case that both of us will have to wait right?"

"Well, I guess that's a problem. Still, you do give good advice. I'd certainly ask for it!" Kanaye laughed.

"I certainly hope so, Seiko," Kanaye said, doing the same. He really didn't care much for honorifics, and if she wasn't going to use them... "but it's still unlikely that it'll be someone I love. I don't want to hurt people but I deserve to be happy sometimes..." He looked at Seiko. "Right?"

"Ah thanks, I do my best, though I try not to poke my nose in too much. Well 'cept with you cause you sometimes need help when you don't ask." she waved her finger at him with a smile.

"Unlikely it will be someone you love? Don't be so pessimistic, if you fall in love with someone there has to be a good chance they will love you too." she tilted her head again going back to her cake for a moment. "Everyone deserves to be happy..." she said thoughtfully and quieter than she usually spoke as if she was considering it deeply.

"Yeah, I do. But I don't want to trouble people with my problems, especially when they have their own. I mean, wouldn't you get annoyed if I asked you for help a lot?" He shook his head. "I need to do this by myself..." and I don't think I can.

"You kidding? I've had way too any girlfriends that I loved and I thought they loved me. Of course, they didn't. Why did I expect Maeko to be any different?" He growled and started stabbing the cake. "I guess so."

Seiko shook her head. "Don't be silly I am always here for you day and night. I mean I hardly sleep much, so honestly if you need someone." she gestured towards herself. "I'm your man...woman...girl..."

In response to his second comment Seiko flung herself forwards to pull Kanaye into a tight and enthusiastic hug.

"Oh Kanaye, I didn't realise this has happened much before." she said in a slightly muffled voice as her face was pressed against Kanaye's shoulder due to her sudden hug attack.

	"But I-" Kanaye's protest was cut off by random hug out of nowhere. He just sat there in shock. He really wasn't used to this from people he wasn't dating. 	Seiko pulled back a little sheepish. "Sorry to surprise you like that, I just didn't want you to feel sad." she shifted a little glad to see she hadn't accidentally knocked cake on the floor or anything. "Well now you are stuck with me I am afraid young one." Seiko replied with a grin "I don't have any siblings either really..."

She shook her head. "Strong? No. I hit the very bottom and I was too weak to carry on that way, because I was so scared I'd end up alone and unloved or just fade away." she sighed. "I'm not strong, I just refuse to be sad, and try to keep the peace."

"Ah well as you know I am perfect." she said with a mock smirk.

"You are a good person Kanaye, despite having your problems you still manage to be good, to be able to be faithful, or kind. I was neither of those things. Maybe I climbed out, but I...I didn't get out alone, I was helped." she patted his shoulder. "You aren't failing, you are just going slowly because things like this are hard. It won't just happen overnight."

	"No one is perfect Kanaye, you can't set yourself standards so high no one can reach them. You aren't superhuman, just doing the best you can is enough, change happens slowly." Seiko replied with a empathetic expression. Kanaye reminded her so much of herself in the past it was almost worrying in itself. "I mean you have friends, that shows you have good qualities."
