Who: Shojiro and any students.
When: After classes.
Where: History classroom.
What: One on One study sessions, for the ones lagging and the gifted ones.
Why: Kids need their booksmarts.

Shojiro sat in the History classroom, regular lessons had finished, but as the Teaching Assistant he ran special sessions for those students who were falling behind, but also those who were considered particularly bright. Usually the students were fairly well behaved, but with holidays approaching all they seemed to do was try to divert him from teaching them. He knew they had been having to work hard, so he was lenient as long as they listened to him for a while. After all even he got a bit bored of teaching students who were thinking more of holidays and their social life than History , he straightened his noted and smiled a little with a yawn> In truth he wanted a nap , but he‘d pulled the desk over a little into a patch of sunlight and lent back waiting for his first student to come in.

He‘d been a student at the school the year before, so he knew a few of the students as friends, so he could understand how impatient they were and how they wanted to get out and have fun. But then again his idea of fun was different from their‘s, as usually for fun he studied, but he could appreciate how they wanted to get out. He smiled again and looked over at the door hoping that his first student would be on time today.

Shojiro grinned at her and looked embarrassed. "I did eat it don't worry, but are you sure you really want to be making lunch for me like that?" he lent back in his seat and waved his pencil at her. Misaki always made him feel comfortable like a little sister.

"I think you mentioned you were in the dorms." he pulled up his bag, covered in writing and stupid drawings it was obviously an old but much loved bag. "I have something for you, you've seemed preoccupied recently so I thought you might like this..." he handed her a book. "Its a translation of an old fantasy story, its a little dated, but it is cheerful and reminded me of you."

He wanted to cheer her up, he thought of her as some kind of sister, she seemed so young and at least with him was cheerful bubbly and made him feel comfortable and not have to worry about life.

"Oh how are things with your um boyfriend...Keiichi right?"

"Why not! You're my friend aren't you? And someone has to make sure you eat because your rules about lunch are always cooked instant noodles will travel, isn't it." Misaki giggled some and leaned forward on the desk resting her head on her hands. Shojiro was like a brother to her, she did think he was cute, but it was more of an adorable way then anything else. She looked up to him, envied him in a way, but more then that she totally respected him for his knowledge.

"OH!" Misaki took the translation and squeezed his hand tightly when he handed the book to her. "This is...thank you so much Shojiro-sempai. I'll read it right away! You're...you didn't have to..." She blushed happily and flipped through the pages.

"They...." she paused, "Their okay I guess. We seem happy enough, well he does. I'm..." She sighed. "Sempai...I'm worried about Maeko-chan. I want to be her friend but...I'm worried that I'm being a bad friend to her now. I really...I'm not happy with the person she's going out with and I think that I'm being a spoiled brat to her. But I don't know how to stop it. I don't really understand why I feel this way."

"I like instant noodles, they have lots of vitamins and make your bones stronger." Shojiro muttered, not exactly an expert in food science.

"Misaki...When it comes to friends it is important to support them no matter what, unless they are in danger." he lent back with a goofy grin. "I mean with my friends...they used to do stupid things, but they made them happy. If Maeko-san is happy then maybe it is best to just support her?" he patted her hand gently, in a brotherly way.

"Who is she dating anyway?"

"Um...I...I'm not so sure about that. I mean they do have protin and bread value, but I guess the broth and other veggies do have that so I suppose they are healthy. But the noodles themself don't contain vitmans, unless they're the green veggie kind." Misaki told him and smiled.

"Well I guess, but I just don't want her being hurt by him, or vice versa. He expects her to be in love with him...big time, and well...I don't know if she is. She forced herself to like me a long time ago when we first started to be friends I found out...but...I think she might be doing the same and it will hurt him and her in the end. That's why I'm worried." she explained and scowled some.

"Satou Kanaye-sempai."

Shojiro nodded slowly. "Kanaye is a good person." he said with a smile. "But she forced herself to like you, but now really does right? Maybe that is just her way of doing things." he shrugged and lent back. He looked at Misaki for a moment, he cared about his friends a lot, but he tried not to tell them what to do or control them but just be supportive.

"Are you sure about the noodle thing?" he asked with a childish pout.

"You have to trust her Misaki, I don't think he would. He seems to really like her. Besides surely it is an insult to her if you think she cannot look after herself right?" he patted her shoulder with a caring expression.

"My family?." he drooped. "Its difficult as ever, Mum still won't talk about my brother. She refuses to admit she threw him out. But...he called me a few days ago, I haven't spoken to him in years you know?" he slumped even more. "Its horrible." he admitted.

Shojiro pulled a face. "My brother is...I don't know, he wasn't exactly well behaved when he was younger, and now I'm not sure if he is genuinely reaching out to me or just wants to upset our Mother." he sighed and fiddled with a pen trying to organize his thoughts.

"Whats wrong with clingy?" Shojiro asked with a confused expression, "Isn't it nice he wants to be with her?"

"Well yes, but like...he keeps kissing her in public all the time, and he gets drunk, so then he'll get all moody and throw weird tantrums and such. It's just rather, annoying." Misaki sighed and rubbed her head. "I know I feel bad for him but, I don't know if Maeko-chan is the sort of person that can really handle all this."

She gave him a queer look, "Hummm, well you could always run a test, ask him if he'd like to have lunch with you and your mother?"

	Shojiro grinned suddenly widely. "Well I don't know much about romance besides what I read in books, but sometimes it is said opposites attract. Maybe she likes those crazy things about him? 	Misaki looked down, "I...Sempai, it just...it hurts. Because she used to rely on me, but now she's always with him, and I...I just feel like I"m a third wheel." Looking up she nodded, "Well would you come with me for a week if I go? I need someone to come with me. It'll be lonely on my own." She nodded, "Yeah relationships take time to grow. What's he like?" "Misaki..." he said softly. "She is still your friend, but if she has branched out and found someone new who makes her happy isn't that good too? Maybe without you she wouldn't have been able to find this person she cares about so much." he looked over at her sympathetically. "I know I have pretty much no understanding about romance, and its not really something I am after due to...well things I've been told about it, but if I had a friend who had found someone that special to them I'd have to accept in the end that they make them happy. I'm sure she still cares about you, but this is a new and exciting relationship for her."

He mused over her question to go to Tokyo, surely her boyfriend would be better to ask? Or maybe a female friend, not that he didn't think it would be fun, but he didn't want her to get into trouble.

"Misaki, as much as Tokyo would be fun shouldn't you ask Keiichi?" he said slowly, trying to word it kindly. "Though..." he put his finger to his mouth. "Is it true the water there is purple?"

He looked down trying to think about the last question. "My brother? He is...really clever, and has lots of women after him, he doesn't really respect the law...and he is..." he smiled a little. "Very funny, you know like witty? I...I really like him, but I don't want him to know me cause I don't want him to see that I'm a bit...you know..." he waved his hand, trying to imply the fact that although he was intelligent he was also an airhead.

Misaki nodded and sighed some, "You're right...I should have guessed that you would be mature enough to see things that I can't see. But still, I don't want him to hurt her. He's very...his ex girlfriend he's very rude about and well...it's not a good thing."

"I should I know, but I don't know if going with him would influence me more. You know, I love him, I really do it's just...I guess I wanted someone with me that I know isn't going to be flirting with me the whole time. I'm not going there for romantic reasons, I'm going there to look into stuff for school when I graduate from here." Misaki explained. "But I guess maybe he'd like it." She paused and thought a moment, "I...I don't really know. But all the shows from there and the news show that it's like water from here so. I don't think so..."

Misaki giggled, "You are not! You can be silly but you're very smart and witty yourself. Don't...don't doubt yourself Shojiro! You're really a kind honest person. Anyone would want you as a brother. Seriously..."

"Do girls really force themselves to like people they don't want to be with? I mean isn't that a bit...weird?" he pulled a face. "I mean you can't make yourself love someone right?" His clueless side slowly reappearing.

"Well I will come if you like me too, I mean now I'm old enough to drive and all I guess I'd be useful." he tapped his nose thoughtfully.

"Che, I'm just not sure I want my brother to know what I am like yet."

Misaki beamed at him happily, finally someone that got it. "No...no you can't force yourself to love someone. You can atempt to, you can make yourself believe that you are, you can be in deniel about it, but you can't force yourself to love anyone if you don't want to."

Misaki grinned happily, "Would you really! That would be great! And besides that it would be good to have someone who was older with me! And you're in college too so you can help me understand certain aspects for the whole going there and such."

"Well, maybe one day you will, and I hope he really appricates who you are like I do." Misaki said cheefully and felt more relieved then anything.

Shojiro sighed. "I mean if she is with him and says she loves him then surely that shows she means it as she cannot make herself love him." He frowned a little Misaki seemed pretty odd about this whole thing, after all Kanaye was a decent enough person, maybe not perfect but no one was. Yet Misaki seemed so desperate to believe that he was wrong for her friend, why would anyone worry this much about something like that? It completely bemused him.

"Well I still have more training to do before I can get into the College I want, but I can help you out. Plus I have a better sense of direction than you do. Just check it with Keiichi first, you don't want him to get worried about something like this. If he is worried I can talk to him?" he smiled a sweet genuinely innocent smile.

"I don't know, when I spoke to him he seemed to think I needed to get a girlfriend and live a little...actually I guess he is a bit like Kanaye, so maybe you wouldn't like him..." he mused.

"I don't know. I can't read her some times." Misaki sighed and played with her hair. "What about you? Have you ever liked anyone, Shojiro-kun?"

Misaki laughed and grinned, "That's true you do. You were always getting me out of going the wrong way in the halls of this school before. Yes, of course I will, it'll be the...second, thing I do. First thing would be to tell Maeko-chan, after all I room with her. And you will get in there no worries. You're going to be a great teacher someday soon."

"It's not that I hate sempai, it's just that I don't like some of his behavior. Sometimes he's a really great person, then at other times he can be very selfish and does want to understand other peoples points of views." Misa explained softly.

"Me? Ah no, my mother...well she kind of put me off it. I mean there have been people I admired for their intelligence or their disposition but it isn't something I've really ever thought much about except when it is a plot in a book." He rubbed his nose and smiled apologetically. "I imagine that isn't helpful right?"

"Lets hope Maeko is happy with you going away with some man she hardly knows." Shojiro pointed out.

"But thats just how people are sometimes, we all have good and bad bits Misaki. I mean I have good and bad parts, I imagine you have some bad parts somewhere. Thing is we have to accept that and hope the good bits are enough for people to like us."

"Why would she put you off falling in love? I mean it can be heart breaking but it can be a great thing too, and nerve wracking and...well..."Misaki grinned, "I think you would make an awesome boyfriend to some lucky person, Shojiro! You're clever, and funny and sweet, and you're really mature and calm and smart. Anyone should be lucky to date you!"

"But you're a teacher and you're her Sempai! She probably won't mind it to much," Misaki said though she did worry that Maeko might.

Misaki looked down, "People seem to think I'm manipultive for some reason. Though I don't see it like that. And that whole thing on the PA system where apparently I embaressed a lot of people...I don't mean to do bad things, Shojiro-kun." She nodded. "I guess so. Why is it that you're so much clever then most of the teachers here, Shojiro-sempai?"

"Well she just...said a lot of stuff, about women and how they are bad and that, well lots of stuff. I mean its only recently I realized some of it is lies. I mean for years she had me actually believing that if you kissed a girl before you were married your teeth would rot and you'd get diseases." he sighed a little sadly. "It kind of just makes you a bit dead to all those romantic ideas when you have your Mother saying things like that all your life."

"I don't know Maeko well, but I imagine many female friends would be protective of a friend of their's going away with someone they hardly know right?" he mentioned, trying to reason it through.

"Well that is kind of where we are similar, I don't mean to upset people when I forget they aren't stupid and talk to them like they are idiots, or when I forget how to boil water. But Misaki, all the time I have known you you have never been manipulative."

He smiled and looked a little embarassed at her last comment, although one of his main failings was his arrogance about how clever he was. "Well I don't know about being smarter than the teachers." he said in a tone that suggested quite the opposite.

"Well that's a bit odd. I mean if that was the case, wouldn't your dad's teeth have rotted off? Didn't he ever kiss your mom before they were married? And what about all the guys at school?" Misaki reasoned and then paused. "Hummm...Well then we'll have to change your view of that now won't we!"

Misaki nodded and shivered, "Maybe I should invite her along if she gets worried about it. But I don't know if Kanaye-semapi would let her go, he might be disappointed that I wasn't taking him as well."

she blushed deeply, "Well I did tell Kozue a lie to get her to come out and help me, but that was it. Now people think because of that I'm being maniputltive. Or when I cry and such..."

She grinned, "You are! You're one of the best teachers in this school."

"I doubt anyone kissed my mother before she was married." he muttered a little darkly. "I did realise it didn't make teeth rot when I saw so much evidence that it didn't. As for changing my mind...I don't know it is hard to change my mind."

"Don't you want to go to Tokyo to get away from the problems with those two?" he tilted his head. "They may have their own plans with each other."

Shojiro almost smirked instead he settled to just smile. "Well I don't know about that..."
