Who: Toshi, open
What: Studying
When: Post-dungeon, after school. Let's say it's raining.
Where: The library
Why: Because exams apparently start July 13th.

In front of Toshimi, on a table in the library, were all the notebooks she'd filled over the last semester, in three decent-sized piles. Once she'd finished stacking them up, she appraised them for a moment, marveling at how much faster private schools in the big city covered material. Was this really only one term's worth of work in front of her? True, she'd never really needed to take notes before, but this much difference was surprising.

After a moment, she pulled out a history textbook and found the notebook corresponding to it in one of the piles. Toshi wasn't especially fond of history lately for some reason, but that didn't change the fact that the test was coming up. She opened one last notebook and started to re-copy notes from the beginning of the year.

"Hmmm..." she sighed a little bit. She still remembered most of what she'd taken notes on anyway...rote memorization was the least difficult part of history. But she leaned over her notes again anyway. There were people she wouldn't be able to face if she did poorly on the exams, so she had to work hard. Plus, Toshimi had to keep her mind occupied or else...well, she just had to keep her mind occupied, was all.

The causes of World War One...militarism, nationalism...what were the others? It wasn't written in the textbook, but Toshimi had notes on it somewhere...she started going through one of her piles, searching for it. What did the cause of a war even matter, anyway? The end result was always--

"Oh, Sakuraba-san," Toshimi smiled and waved a little bit. She was actually glad for the interruption. "Hello. Yes, I'm studying..." She shifted her study materials off to her left so that Masami could have a clear workspace either across from her or to her right. "Please, have a seat."

She looked back down at her notes for a moment. "I'm going over World War One right now...do you remember the causes off the top of your head? I think there were four that we went over, but my notes from that section seem to be..." She smiled again.

Masami nodded and took a seat across from Toshi.

"Umm... the causes for World War One?" History was Masami's strong point, but it was specifically Japanese history. Western history... well... "I remember... was it Archduke Ferdinand who was assassinated? Let me see if I can find my notes..."

Masami opened her bag and began rummaging through notebooks, seeing if she could track down her own notes.

"That's right, that's right..." Toshimi nodded and wrote "assassination of Archduke Ferdinand" in the clean notebook. "That was the catalyst, right? ...I wonder we'll have to cover the underlying causes on the test or not."

She smiled into her textbook, "I'm not even sure how much international history will be on the test....it's a bit of a guessing game, but luck favors the prepared, right?" She flipped through a couple pages. "That's right, here's the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand and the Black Hand, and everything."

She ran a finger over the lines in the book as she reread them.
