Who: Toshi, open
What: Studying
When: Post-dungeon, after school. Let's say it's raining.
Where: The library
Why: Because exams apparently start July 13th.

In front of Toshimi, on a table in the library, were all the notebooks she'd filled over the last semester, in three decent-sized piles. Once she'd finished stacking them up, she appraised them for a moment, marveling at how much faster private schools in the big city covered material. Was this really only one term's worth of work in front of her? True, she'd never really needed to take notes before, but this much difference was surprising.

After a moment, she pulled out a history textbook and found the notebook corresponding to it in one of the piles. Toshi wasn't especially fond of history lately for some reason, but that didn't change the fact that the test was coming up. She opened one last notebook and started to re-copy notes from the beginning of the year.

"Hmmm..." she sighed a little bit. She still remembered most of what she'd taken notes on anyway...rote memorization was the least difficult part of history. But she leaned over her notes again anyway. There were people she wouldn't be able to face if she did poorly on the exams, so she had to work hard. Plus, Toshimi had to keep her mind occupied or else...well, she just had to keep her mind occupied, was all.

The Kendo club wasn't having practice today for reasons Masami didn't quite understand. Sure it was raining outside, but the Kendo club practiced indoors; what did rain have to do with it? Maybe it was because some of the other teams practiced outside so they just cancelled all sports clubs on rainy days. With exams coming up, Masami decided to use the time to study. It'd been pretty hectic for her between Paradise(Couldn't the killer have picked a less inconvenient time to throw Misaki into Paradise?) and practice for the upcoming prefectural tournament, so she hadn't had as much of a chance to hit the books as she would've liked.

This had to be the worst possible timing for prefecturals; apparently they'd been delayed because the place where they were usually held was closed for repairs(apparently it had been struck by lightning a few months ago) and it'd taken some time for the arrangements to hold prefecturals at Nanakamado to go through. Regardless of the reasoning though, it was still horrible timing to have prefecturals during exams, and Masami needed to get some studying done.

And what better place to study than the library? She was just thinking about how lucky it'd be if she ran into one of her more studious classmates when she entered the library. Looking around a bit, she spotted Toshimi, apparently already studying.

"Nawanaka-san," began Masami, "are you studying for exams? Do you mind if I join you?"

Tom was in the library, like usual. He'd noticed the two women studying, and set himself up at a table nearby, expecting just like the last time he'd seen Investigation team members in the library. They would ignore him, and he could listen in and see how they were doing.

The causes of World War One...militarism, nationalism...what were the others? It wasn't written in the textbook, but Toshimi had notes on it somewhere...she started going through one of her piles, searching for it. What did the cause of a war even matter, anyway? The end result was always--

"Oh, Sakuraba-san," Toshimi smiled and waved a little bit. She was actually glad for the interruption. "Hello. Yes, I'm studying..." She shifted her study materials off to her left so that Masami could have a clear workspace either across from her or to her right. "Please, have a seat."

She looked back down at her notes for a moment. "I'm going over World War One right now...do you remember the causes off the top of your head? I think there were four that we went over, but my notes from that section seem to be..." She smiled again.

Masami nodded and took a seat across from Toshi.

"Umm... the causes for World War One?" History was Masami's strong point, but it was specifically Japanese history. Western history... well... "I remember... was it Archduke Ferdinand who was assassinated? Let me see if I can find my notes..."

Masami opened her bag and began rummaging through notebooks, seeing if she could track down her own notes.

"That's right, that's right..." Toshimi nodded and wrote "assassination of Archduke Ferdinand" in the clean notebook. "That was the catalyst, right? ...I wonder we'll have to cover the underlying causes on the test or not."

She smiled into her textbook, "I'm not even sure how much international history will be on the test....it's a bit of a guessing game, but luck favors the prepared, right?" She flipped through a couple pages. "That's right, here's the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand and the Black Hand, and everything."

She ran a finger over the lines in the book as she reread them.

Misaki cracked open another book and sighed. This was the part of school that she really really didn't like. Studying was all well and good, but keeping what she needed in her head was the tricky part. Sighing some she rubbed her head and glanced over at her table. There were several stacks of books there each with a different subject to cover. Along with this was several photo copied articals regarding the murders and about past incidents in Inaba.

She sighed and shut her composition book then looked around and waved at Tom.
