Tana-tana-tana-tanabata!
Who: EVERYONE
What: WISHES
Where: SHRINE
When: TANABATA
Why: TANABATA

It was a story of star crossed lovers. Literally.  Orihime and Hikoboshi, meeting up with one another for only one night a year, seperated by the Milky Way. This always seemed kind of stupid (you'd think they would get tired of only being able to be with the one they love for only one day out of the entire year) but humanity was always romantic, and so, their reunion was celebrated.

There was bamboo set up everywhere, with little pieces of paper on them. These pieces of paper held the wishes of everybody that came to the festival, in hope that one day, they too will be able to have their wish come true. They would be burned the day after, true, but just for one night, it seemed that anything could happen.

Everywhere you look, people in yutakas walked around. There were booths everywhere, and people playing at those booths. Really, it was quite nice.

Kanaye was having great pleasure in people looking at his yutaka in confusion. It was gold. Not actually the element, but it was definitely light, shiny, and pure gold in color. The contrast between it and every other yukata nearby was shocking to say the least.  He was waiting for Maeko, who hasn't shown up yet.

Norio reveled in the spectacle of festivals; the low-exertion entertainment, the atmosphere, the chatter, the yukatas... He was no devotee to tradition, or fetishizer of the old-fashioned, but rather more at home wearing one. They were beautiful, classy, never got old, and were most importantly not worrisome for someone of his body type. Revealing clothes like many girls wore casually outside of school were of course out of the question for him. Dressed like this, having no bust was no problem.

He had also come expecting to run into Ginjiro, but instead first spotted Toshimi as he went to grab some shaved ice. The poor girl looked to be suffering the adverse effects of the city's pollution, though hiding it behind a smile and a mouthful of shaved ice.

"Hey, Toshimi-chan! It's nice to see you here! I see that you've got a nice new yukata, too... it really suits you." He tugged at his own sleeve. "This one used to be my mother's. Where did you get yours?"

Mmm, shaved ice. It was sort of working; at least her cough was now more or less within her control, but more importantly it was cold and sweet and delicious. She was focused enough on it that she didn't see Kojima until she was speaking to her.

"Kojima-san!" she said, removing one hand from her shaved ice for a second to wave. "Good to see you!" She nodded, "Thank you very much. Your yukata is really nice, too. So it was your mother's?" Toshimi echoed conversationally. "She's that composer, right?"

She brushed her yukata off a little (although it didn't seem to be dirty at all). "Aoi-san in 1-B made it for me," Toshimi said. "Do you know her? Long, pink hair?"

Toshimi took another bite of her shaved ice and smiled. It was a little rude to be eating in the middle of a conversation, but she'd already paid for her shaved ice and she didn't want it to melt before she could finish.

Norio ultimately decided to put off buying shaved ice for the time being, since he'd instead found someone to talk to.

"Yes, my mother is Kojima Chiyo, the composer." He smiled sweetly, and made a little hand gesture. "I think she's composed the scores to a few NakaCo games, if I'm not mistaken."

At this, he put a pensive hand on his chin. "Aoi-san, with the pink hair? Yes, I know her! She's the neighbor of a good friend of mine. She's a very sunny girl, isn't she? And I didn't know she could make things like this!" He leaned closer to inquisitively examine the yukata. "Wow, I can tell this is high-quality! Maybe I should ask her about clothes sometime... As you can see, this one is a little too short on me."

Toshimi nodded. She remembered looking up which games Chiyo had written the music for and approving of them, not that the mildly tone-deaf girl's musical taste really counted for anything. "Yes, I remember. She has excellent taste in yukata." She smiled pleasantly.

"That's right," Toshimi confirmed, "She is usually quite cheerful. I had no idea she was this talented with clothing until today, though." She smiled and swayed a little bit to show the fabric's movement. "It's like it's professionally done, isn't it?"

She glanced down at Kojima's yukata. She hadn't noticed, but it did look a little shorter than perhaps the best-fitting length. "That's a shame," she said, smiling, "It's an easy fix if it's too long, but if it's too short there's nothing that can be done for it."
