Tana-tana-tana-tanabata!
Who: EVERYONE
What: WISHES
Where: SHRINE
When: TANABATA
Why: TANABATA

It was a story of star crossed lovers. Literally.  Orihime and Hikoboshi, meeting up with one another for only one night a year, seperated by the Milky Way. This always seemed kind of stupid (you'd think they would get tired of only being able to be with the one they love for only one day out of the entire year) but humanity was always romantic, and so, their reunion was celebrated.

There was bamboo set up everywhere, with little pieces of paper on them. These pieces of paper held the wishes of everybody that came to the festival, in hope that one day, they too will be able to have their wish come true. They would be burned the day after, true, but just for one night, it seemed that anything could happen.

Everywhere you look, people in yutakas walked around. There were booths everywhere, and people playing at those booths. Really, it was quite nice.

Kanaye was having great pleasure in people looking at his yutaka in confusion. It was gold. Not actually the element, but it was definitely light, shiny, and pure gold in color. The contrast between it and every other yukata nearby was shocking to say the least.  He was waiting for Maeko, who hasn't shown up yet.

Tom spotted Masami walking through the crowd. He noted that he hadn't felt likat strange unease toward her anymore. It had vanished as fast as it had come and was just as confusing. Tom had always hated not.understanding things, even things like that and so resolved to do something about it.

"Hello Sakhraba, you're tending the Tanaka family shrine now?"

For some reason Tom wasn't one of the people Masami would expect to see at the festival. Still, she greeted him with a smile; he was a familiar face and despite others' negative feelings toward him she actually thought he was a good person.

"Sakagi-senpai. It's good to see you. Yeah, I just started working her this week. I used to work at a different shrine but they never really called me in, and I figured it'd be good to have some extra spending money."

A quizical look crossed TOm's face. If she needed money it was because she didn't have it, therefore her family must not be wealthy, that would mean she was at Nanakamado on scholarship. Given Sakuraba's reputation it was likely a sports scholarship. The theory quickly formed in his head, and he resolved to investigate the possibility on his own later.

"I suppose there's a good deal more work for you now, with all of this."

He waved his hand around the festival, and used the opportunity to scan the crowd for people he knew, or possible suspicious characters. Then he looked back toward Masami, he dropped his voice slightly in case someone was listening.

"But I suppose, at least it's a good way to observe the attendantees in an inconspicuous manner."

"Well, yeah the festival's been pretty busy, but I'm being given a break for a while to go around and enjoy the festival myself," Masami said. Truth be told, though, so far she still hadn't done any of the usual Tanabata things.

"...Observe? I don't know, I hadn't really thought of it like that. And either way it's been so busy that I haven't even had a chance to really look at anyone until now."

"By the way, how are you enjoying the festival?"

Tom shrugged. He looked kind of awkward and thought about his evening.

"I technically have yet to partake of anything here. I guess so far I've simply been in proximity to the festival without actually,... ineracting with it."
