Tana-tana-tana-tanabata!
Who: EVERYONE
What: WISHES
Where: SHRINE
When: TANABATA
Why: TANABATA

It was a story of star crossed lovers. Literally.  Orihime and Hikoboshi, meeting up with one another for only one night a year, seperated by the Milky Way. This always seemed kind of stupid (you'd think they would get tired of only being able to be with the one they love for only one day out of the entire year) but humanity was always romantic, and so, their reunion was celebrated.

There was bamboo set up everywhere, with little pieces of paper on them. These pieces of paper held the wishes of everybody that came to the festival, in hope that one day, they too will be able to have their wish come true. They would be burned the day after, true, but just for one night, it seemed that anything could happen.

Everywhere you look, people in yutakas walked around. There were booths everywhere, and people playing at those booths. Really, it was quite nice.

Kanaye was having great pleasure in people looking at his yutaka in confusion. It was gold. Not actually the element, but it was definitely light, shiny, and pure gold in color. The contrast between it and every other yukata nearby was shocking to say the least.  He was waiting for Maeko, who hasn't shown up yet.

Seiji squeaked when his shoulder was squeezed as if he were some sort of giant dog toy and started concentrating very hard on the shaved ice.

Misaki paused and looked worried, "Seiji-kun? Are you okay?"

Sensing the change of mood, Nayuki gave Seiji a gentle pat on the shoulder and nodded to Misaki. "You two should take a break. I can take flower duty for now. I'm done hanging my wish, anyway." He carefully lifted the baskets off Seiji and Misaki and gave them a smile. "Just let me know how much these pretties are and I'll handle the rest for now, okay?"

"Really sempai? Thank you so so very much!" Misaki gushed happily. "Those are free samples. If they want to buy them just direct them to the shop's booth. My Niisan can take care of the rest."

She gave Nayuki a tight hug, "Than you so so much." Then let go smiling brightly.

"oh, um, thank you!" Seiji said, bowing a little too far. The shaved ice slid out of its container and onto the ground.

"ah! i'm sorry! you got it for me and i dropped it..." He mumbled. Torn between starting a stream of apologies and running away he just hid behind Misaki.

Misaki smiled and handed him her ice, "It's okay Seiji-kun. You can have mine."

Nayuki chuckled and handed Misaki his share of Shaved Ice. "I knew there was a reason why I bought three." He turns around to head further down the steps, hauling the flower baskets in one hand while gently clutching a few of them with the other. "It was nice to meet you, Seiji-san. I'll go around handing the free samples, then. You two enjoy your break time, okay?" With that, he starts to pirouette through the crowd, handing them flowers while chanting random flower haiku. It only took a few moments before he completely disappeared into the crowd.

Misaki smiled brightly, took it and started to munch on it. "Mmmmm, thank you Sempai. He's really sweet, isn't he Seiji-kun?"

"It's no problem Seiji!" She said sweetly and looked at him kindly. "Hey Seiji, can I ask you something. Why did you want to help me? I mean you don't know a lot about me but...

Ah ha! An easy question!

Or at least one that Seiji could answer.

Semi-honestly.

"i had the day off work for the festival anyway. i thought that helping out would be a lot of fun. and my dad always used to say that a man should always help out a girl if she needs help."

He skipped the part where he'd taken the day off becuase he wanted to come to the festival with Noriko but hadn't managed to ask her.

Masami had promised Misaki that if she had a little bit of time, she'd stop by to help out with the flower booth, so after she was done with what the shrine needed from her she made her way over to it, where Misaki, Nayuki, and Seiji were all selling flowers... and apparently having some shaved ice.

"Tonbo-san, Aoi-san, Mikio-san. It's good to see you all here. I just finished with all my shrine business, and since I promised I'm here to help for a little bit, if you need me. Are you having a good festival so far?"

The small plastic spoonful of shaved ice stopped mid-way to Seiji's mouth when the prettiest girl in the world who wasn't named Noriko Kojima approached and adressed them. He carefully replaced the spoon and boxed in greeting, being careful to keep the container the right way up this time, while he tried to remember who this angel was and why she would ever remember his name.

After a little thought he finally remembered. She was Shirou-sama's friend, the beautiful and undefeatable kendo girl. Remembering this, he bowed again for good measure. One could never be too polite to someone who was undefeatable.

"ah! Sakuraba-sama!" He said, mid third bow. "i didn't know you worked at the shrine! a-are you well prepared for the tournament?"

Masami was a little surprised by Seiji. He... was just as timid as Shirou had described him to be. Really polite too. Overly so. And Masami wasn't sure what she thought of him calling her "sama" either. She hid her misgivings very well behind a smile, though, as she spoke.

"I only just started working at this shrine earlier this week. I used to work at a different one, but they never really called me in. It would be nice to wear a pretty yukata for something like this... but since I was doing shrine things today I'm stuck in this. I hope it looks OK..."

"Oh, I think I'll be OK for the tournament. The team's been practicing almost every day to prepare."

The randomized haiku he kept delivering didn't seem to be as bad as it sounds. One of the flower baskets had already been emptied out by just handing free samples to appreciative Tanabata attendees. Nayuki's decision to perform the task on the very stairs that lead to the shrine paid off. People who were on their way to the festival can each be seen with Hanakotoba's flower in their hands, if Misaki and the others were to notice. With his brain suddenly ceasing to give him further material for his haiku, he went back to the group.

To his surprise, Nayuki found another familiar face added to the flower group. The sleek blue hair was unmistakable, and with the effect of the Shrine Maiden garb, it was if he was looking at a large, but delicate porcelain figurine. Glancing over to Misaki and giving her a mischievous wink before joining the circle, he announced himself to the new arrival. "We're happy that you can find the time to join us, Sakuraba-san."

Letting Seiji and Masami finish their banter beforehand, he couldn't help but overhear about the upcoming Kendo Tournament. "I'm sure the club members are all... what's the word..." He does his very best to perform a Shirou-ism as he stops his feet and strike a fist high in the air, "PUMPED UP, NOW!" He then returns to his natural posture, ignoring the strange looks from the people around them. "...something like that." He shrugs and chuckles while brandishing the last basket of sample flowers in one arm, "We'll be sure to witness the event first-hand and cheer you all on."

Misaki grinned at Seiji, "Well I'm sure that he would be very proud of the son he raised then. I'm really glad that you were here with me."

She glanced up when she heard Masami's voice and gasped, "Masami-sempai! You look so pretty! Oh, um...well Seiji-kun and I were just taking a break, and well um...if you wanted to help hand out some flowers and such. Unless your busy that is."

Seeing Nayuki give the wink she titled her head curiously then covered her mouth to hide all the giggles. That was a perfect imitation of Shirou. Misaki nodded though, "I"m going to be there too, I'll make sure to cheer really loud for you Masami-semepai!"

Masami broke into a laugh at Nayuki's impression of Shirou. "It's worse when Ito-sensei comes to practice. You've seen Shirou-kun and Ito-sensei in gym class right? It's pretty much the same," Masaim said, then took a deep breath and attempted, once again, to imitate it. "'SHIROU!' 'ITO-SENSEI!' ...Something like that. It's really tiring to be around, so I've been skipping practice more often lately."

"Thanks you two, it'll be nice to see you there. It's good to know there are people cheering for you in the audience. Oh! They're giving me the rest of the night until the festival is over to do whatever I want, so I can help you with the flowers now if you want."

Misaki giggled at this and grinned, "That must be very amusing to see in live action Masami-sempai! Shirou-kun is really sweet. I really hope that he does well. My brother really looks up to the two of you."

"Oh! Thank you so so much! I mean I don't want it to be too much of a hastle." Misaki blushed some at this embaressed.

"Your brother? Oh, you mean Aoi Tomako in the middle school? He looks up to me and Shirou?" asked Masami.

"Don't worry about it. Like I said, I have plenty of time. ...Oh, and I actually had a question for you, Aoi-san. I saw that you had been making yukatas for people, and I was wondering if you could teach me..." Masami looked really hopeful at this request.

"It's alright, Sakuraba-san. I've got this." He shows Masami the last remaining basket of flowers. "I wouldn't want you to tire yourself out when you finally have the time to enjoy Tanabata."

Nayuki stands next to Misaki, smiling brightly as he contrasts his yukata with her in front of Masami. "Aoi-san is really good at this. I'm really lucky she found time to even make one for me. Thanks so much!" He reaches an arm around Misaki's shoulder and gives her a pseudo-hug, chuckling, "By the way. Has anyone told you just how stunning you look in that yukata of yours?" Releasing Misaki, he gently gives her a pat on her head, "Don't worry, I'm sure Ito-san will be awestruck when he sees you." He pouts and looks up at a flickering lantern, "By the way... shouldn't you be going ahead now to meet up with him?" He turns his attention back to Misaki and the others, brandishing the flower basket. "I've got things handled in terms of the flowers. I'm sure your brother wouldn't mind if I made a few aggressive promotions, right?"

Misaki turned as pink as her hair at his compliments. "It's not all that great Sempai. I'm sure that there are others that are better then me. St..Stunning? Ah...no. To be honest. Not really, and yes I better get going. Um...Seiji-kun, take care of Masami for me would you please?"

She smiled at the younger boy hoping that doing so would cover the read cheeks she had.
