Tana-tana-tana-tanabata!
Who: EVERYONE
What: WISHES
Where: SHRINE
When: TANABATA
Why: TANABATA

It was a story of star crossed lovers. Literally.  Orihime and Hikoboshi, meeting up with one another for only one night a year, seperated by the Milky Way. This always seemed kind of stupid (you'd think they would get tired of only being able to be with the one they love for only one day out of the entire year) but humanity was always romantic, and so, their reunion was celebrated.

There was bamboo set up everywhere, with little pieces of paper on them. These pieces of paper held the wishes of everybody that came to the festival, in hope that one day, they too will be able to have their wish come true. They would be burned the day after, true, but just for one night, it seemed that anything could happen.

Everywhere you look, people in yutakas walked around. There were booths everywhere, and people playing at those booths. Really, it was quite nice.

Kanaye was having great pleasure in people looking at his yutaka in confusion. It was gold. Not actually the element, but it was definitely light, shiny, and pure gold in color. The contrast between it and every other yukata nearby was shocking to say the least.  He was waiting for Maeko, who hasn't shown up yet.

It had definitely been a good choice to get a new yukata from Misaki—it completely assured Kozue that nobody else was going to be wearing the one that she was, which had happened to her at an Obon celebration in middle school and it had just been… ugh. So embarrassing.

And she'd worried about it at every festival since then, up until now. And her date for the evening had even commented on how beautiful the fabric was. (Although honestly dates were supposed to say that, no matter what you wore. It was their job, practically.) But she did look pretty—the blue complimented her, would have complimented her even better if she'd left out her color contacts, even. The geta made her just a bit taller. For once, her hair was pulled back into a neat bun, with several bright, jingling kanzashi hair sticks poking out at angles.

Now, she was wandering through the many display booths with that date, clinging onto his arm, although barely. He was only a little bit shorter than Keiichi had been—another hit on her streak of dating freakishly tall men. But he was a basketball player, so this was entirely justified. They'd been to a few of the fun places, won a goldfish which now dangled, alone and forlorn, from a small plastic bag, awaiting the same fate that all Tanabata goldfish eventually met. "Let's get paper lanterns," she urged, pulling a bit insistently on the tall boy's long sleeve.

Hikaru was manning his post at the booth when he saw Kozue and waved to her, "Kozue-chan, good evening and how are you. I'm glad I caught you, I wanted to say thanks for helping Misaki with the flowers and everything when you and the others came. This booth looks wonderful."

He gave her a bright smile and quickly dug out a very lovely flower peice for her hair. "Here, this is mine and Misaki's thank you for all the work you did. I hope you enjoy it."

Hikaru gently opened up a small box that had a lovely purple and blue baby rose mix.

She'd been meaning to stop by the stall and see how it had all turned out, and especially how it looked once the sun was down. And she wasn't disappointed. So when Misaki's older brother called her over, Kozue had changed course slightly on the date-dragging.

"It does look great, Aoi-senpai," Kozue said, bowing, and then looking around at all the gorgeous flowers. Their work had really paid off. She glanced around, looking for Misaki, and deciding it was a good sign that she was off somewhere. Having fun? Kozue could hope. "This is for me?" She smiled, her mouth opening slightly in delight as she looked at the gorgeous hair ornament. "Oh, thank you both so much! Here," she detached herself from her date and reached down to take it, while the date stared impassively around at the flowers. Maybe he was contemplating buying one; maybe he was just trying to figure out why the hell his date was working for the flower sellers.

"Here, let me put it in right now, it'll go so perfectly with these pins."

Hikaru smiled delicately and reached over to help her secure the ornament. He smiled brightly and said softly, "There, it looks wonderful. You'd make an impressive Orihimi, Kozue-chan."

Now taking a moment to glance over at the boy, "And who is this mysterious and silent fellow? Your bodyguard?"

Kozue blushed, pleased at the compliment--but that was just like always, she had a weak resolve against flattery and always would. Especially from men. Especially from handsome men. If she even noticed her boyfriend(?) standing right hhete, she gave no indication of the fact. She patted at her hair a little, and when Hikaru mentioned said boyfriend, just peered over her shoulder with a grin.

"Uh. Something, like that, I guess."

That from the bodyguard. He looked uncomfortable in general--but also very much in the specific of seeing his date get flowers from strange men.

Hikaru, while a engaged man, was still just as much of a flirt as he had been in high school. One of the reasons why he and his soon to be bride Ayuna were able to get along was because both had little issue about being jealous about the other flirting. He'd always come back to her and she'd do the same for him. So having th chance to flirt with a pretty girl like Kozue wasn't so bad.

He nodded to the body guard, "Ah I see, well would you mind if on my brake I parade my sister's creation around while Kozue-chan is wearing it. I kind of want to impress people, and what better way to impress people then to have the prettiest girl here show off her looks to everyone."

Kozue blushed a little more, and smiled a lot more; her date, meanwhile, scowled slightly, and looked down at her. Jealousy? But it was brief—that, or he realized what he was doing and tried not to be nearly so childish. After all, the guy was a flower seller; the date's cognitive process was almost evident. A man who did Ikebana and sold flowers wouldn't be trying to scam in on his girl for the night, because, well, duh.

"I'd love to, if Bodyguard-san approves," Kozue giggled. "I'll spin by again, when is your break?"

"Now, if you want it to be," he said fixing the flower in her hair.

"If that's okay, Sosuke-senpai? I'm sure you won't mind, and it'd give you a chance to say hello to your team-mates," Kozue finally turned to face her date head-on. "And I feel like I owe it to Aoi-senpai to show off his wares a little, after his generous gift. I'll meet you in a few minutes by the takoyaki stand? We can share one."

The boy, Sosuke, blinked a little, and then, graciously or wisely or merely out of the fear that if he didn't agree his notoriously easy but fickle date would just drop him on the spot, he bowed out. "In ten minutes." There was a bit of a grumpy tone to his voice, though.

Hikaru chuckled and walked out offering his arm to Kozue. "So, can I ask why a lovely young woman like you is dating someone like that? He seems a bit. I don't know, not your type."

She was the perfect person for this, and Hikaru knew it. Just on Kozue's looks alone he figured people would be in awe of the flowers in her hair. And if he could make her more stunning what could he do for other people. True business was on his mind, but he didn't mind at all having a girl like this on his arm. It could get rather lonely and cold when your bride to be was off in Tokyo no doubt at a club and flirting with guys there too.
