Tana-tana-tana-tanabata!
Who: EVERYONE
What: WISHES
Where: SHRINE
When: TANABATA
Why: TANABATA

It was a story of star crossed lovers. Literally.  Orihime and Hikoboshi, meeting up with one another for only one night a year, seperated by the Milky Way. This always seemed kind of stupid (you'd think they would get tired of only being able to be with the one they love for only one day out of the entire year) but humanity was always romantic, and so, their reunion was celebrated.

There was bamboo set up everywhere, with little pieces of paper on them. These pieces of paper held the wishes of everybody that came to the festival, in hope that one day, they too will be able to have their wish come true. They would be burned the day after, true, but just for one night, it seemed that anything could happen.

Everywhere you look, people in yutakas walked around. There were booths everywhere, and people playing at those booths. Really, it was quite nice.

Kanaye was having great pleasure in people looking at his yutaka in confusion. It was gold. Not actually the element, but it was definitely light, shiny, and pure gold in color. The contrast between it and every other yukata nearby was shocking to say the least.  He was waiting for Maeko, who hasn't shown up yet.

[Ryota wears a white-black yukata, the former colour running half across the chest and down the skirt, which ends with a wave pattern stitched with black thread. Kou's is thick and plain - there's no other colour than navy blue.]

The Oubais had appeared inside the crowd when the festival seemed to come to life. Kouchisei had asked his father to come with no small amount of hint-dropping, but knew eventually he would be left to enjoy the ambiance of the celebration and warm food on his own. He also wanted to tie his wish to the tree. How old had he been the last time he'd done it. Ten? He didn't see why he should. There were no gods. No spirits. It was pointless.

Except he was having a good time. The smell of frying Takoyaki was inspiring, though he wondered if it was clean, given the fact it was being cooked in the middle of a congested city.

"You. Wipe that look off your face."

Kouchisei, personally, didn't like to smile. He hated the lying, the arrogance, the associations and duplicity. People would learn to like it - he didn't have the time to change himself to please other people. Perhaps it was no mistake his expression was now worse compared to how he'd left it.

"Do it or we're going home."

He followed behind with a vacant expression. He wasn't miserable, for crying out loud. He just wasn't a smiler. Except his father said do it for others if not for yourself. Keep an eye on your valuables. Don't go flashing them in the open. All were pieces of advice and he didn't pay attention to where they were going, or who they were near.

Misaki spotted Kou quickly and hurried over to him, "Oubai Sempai! Hello! Would you like a free flower!"

She grinned happily at him and extended the water lily with a look to her face of, 'I remember you liked this flower'. She glanced at his father and bowed politely, "Good evening Oubai-sama. Would you care for a free flower as well?"

Kou's expression changed: he could feel his cheeks stretching, and then his eyes widening as his mouth opened. He figured accepting gifts off girls - women, even - meant he was being open and affectionate. He looked to his father; he didn't know how to feel about someone being that close.

Ryota pushed his glasses up and looked down. He was silent for a moment, but then said, "No, thank you."

His tone showed it was the end of the matter, and hopefully their conversation.

"Oh but sir, it's for the festival," Misaki quickly put in. "And Oubai-sempai has always been a good friend to me. Surely it's alright to give a gift to a friend on such a festival. You wouldn't object to such a gesture, now would you?"

Misaki smiled pleasently. She let her eyes gently shift over to Oubai and held out the flower to him, 'After all he's one of the few people I consider dear to me."

A sigh came from Kouchisei's direction. If one looked, they'd see him rubbing his nose. He wasn't taking great comfort from Misaki's stupidity. He glared at her. What was she trying to do? Embarrass him? He wandered off to look at a nearby stall.

"He's never mentioned you to me," Ryota said calmly. "I have never found assertiveness to be an attractive quality in a woman. Luckily there's words coming out of your mouth otherwise I'd have thought there was nothing there making them up. You must exhaust easily with the pressure of being interesting."

Misaki just smiled at him thinking, And you must easily bore the masses with your wit and charm.

"Well there may have been reasons for that," she smiled some, "It's my job, sir, to promote my brother's shop. It's how he makes a living, and all I'm doing is handing out flowers as a sample to his shop. Simple as that. It's not being assertive it's doing as I have been asked to do."

She looked over at Kou, "Did you check out the sweets section. There are some pretty decent items over there to eat. Really good shaved ice."
