Who: Yoshimi, open to all girls and any particularly adventurous boys
What: TEARS
Where: The school bathroom
When: After Misaki's speech
Why: Because crying in front of her whole homeroom would feel even worse.

Just after she's finished crying all over the first four paper towels, Yoshimi stops pretending that she's not upset. She is upset. Of course she's upset. There's not a boy in the school who'd touch her, it's her fault for not fitting in right, and Aoi-san just announced it over the PA system for anyone who didn't know yet. No wonder Furakawa-senpai had been seeing someone else, someone better.

The throwaway line about becoming a famous mangaka doesn't help help; she can hardly draw stick figures. Even if she did have what it took, even if she did get famous, it would be a small consolation prize.

She sniffles, wonders how she'll be able to face the rest of the school after this, and grabs a fifth paper towel.

Kozue leaned her head back against the wall, inside the bathroom, and shut her eyes for a moment. Well, this was turning into a fine mess all around. Even more of a fine mess.

"What's a boys-love manga, anyway?"

Yoshimi felt her initial wave of despair bleeding into jealousy towards Misaki. She'd started the whole thing with her harebrained PA stunt, but the whole team was still singing her praises about her good intentions, and now Kanaye had gone to console her for overhearing what seemed like a comparatively mild comment. Not that Yoshimi hadn't wanted Kanaye gone, but... so what if he'd called Misaki a little spacey! That was nothing next to being told you were boy-repellent!

She sighed. Blaming people wasn't going to make her feel any better, especially if Misaki was as naive as everyone said. Which brought her back to Kiriko's question.

"I'm not sure right now," she admitted, turning to face her classmate. "I mean, the damage is done, so usually I'd leave it at that, but... well, if she really doesn't know how it sounded, someone should tell her, right?" She didn't want to alienate Misaki or seem bitter, but... well, she was hurt.

She would have kept on trying to get her thoughts in order, but Kozue's question stole all of her attention.

"Kondo-san, you really don't know?" Didn't BL fans get mocked often enough that even normal people had a vague, if inaccurate, idea of the subject matter? "Uh, well, it's manga! Or a genre of it. About boys. In love. With each other." She threw in a conspiratorial wink with the last phrase, more out of habit than anything else.

Kiriko nodded. Honestly, it was more than Yoshimi's feelings on the table - singling them all out like that was bad enough. Sure, they had a club as a front, but... the anti-bullying special outreach? The name should probably be changed to to something to assist with more general behavioural problems. That would at least account for Misaki's membership and the shadows showing up now and then would certainly assist in providing rumours about the dysfunctionality of the club's members...

Ugh, we're all going to be social pariahs by the end of the year!

The thought brought a pang of sympathy for Yoshimi. It would probably harder for her to salvage her reputation, what with Misaki announcing how boy repellant she was and everyone already knowing about that embarassing disaster with her ex. Kiriko quietly reflected that perhaps new glasses with more stylish frames would help, then returned to the situation at hand.

"It's in the same vein as the stuff Ishinomori-san likes," she chimed in, deftly evading words like "geeky" in consideration of the presently mixed company.

"Oh. Huh." Kozue shrugged. That was kind of weird, when you got down to it, but there were deal-breakers out there that were an awful lot worse. "Well, that doesn't sound horrible."

She wondered, idly, if Kanaye had chased down Misaki by this point or not, and if he'd managed to double the disaster at this point. But she really ought to focus on the crying girl in the bathroom with her, instead of the maybe-crying girl outside. Anyway. Back to the matter at hand: "And... Well, do you want help cleaning up? Or do you want to stick it out in here for a while? Because we could do that."

Kiriko nodded in agreement.

"You have your purse with you, Kozue-san? I have some makeup, if you don't." She glanced at Tachibana. Kiriko was unaware of her feelings on breaking that particular school rule, and so decided to keep talking. "You won't get in trouble or anything, they don't notice it if it's subtle, unless you're really useless at putting it on."

"Of course." And, indeed, there was her purse. It wasn't the kind of thing she'd leave in the classroom. Who knows who'd go through it? "You'd look good with a bit more eyeliner — and if you use brown they hardly ever notice it." She nodded, expertly. She was, after all, an expert in exactly how much makeup was too much makeup.

Kanaye cursed under his breath. "She's not answering. I'll have to go find her myself." he said loudly as he walked away.
And then doubled back as he remembered why he came to the bathrooms in the first place. "Later."

After finishing, he really did go chase after Misaki, though he doubted that he could find her now.

Yoshimi sighed and hopped up on the sink next to Kozue. "I don't think it's that bad, but..." She started swinging her feet nervously. "It's just like that shoujo stuff Aoi-san reads, except that the heroine's a hero and stuff. There's still romance and adventure and pretty artwork, just...with two boys instead of a boy and a girl."

She wanted to protest that she was just straight, that it was normal, that a boy could look at two girls doing a lot more than just kissing and that was fine and nobody ran away from him, but there was no point in dwelling on it. She couldn't change the way people thought of it, and she'd be wasting her time if she tried.

She was so lost in her musings on socially acceptable depictions of male and female sexuality that she didn't even notice the makeup kits coming out.

"Wh-what?" Yoshimi, as a rule, did not wear makeup at school. Nanakamado's male population, as a rule, would not touch Yoshimi with a nine and a half foot pole (or so she'd been informed).

Suspecting a correlation, she nodded along with Kozue. Brown eyeliner looked best on her anyway.

Kozue was already digging in her purse; she pulled out several different kinds of makeup, including the aforementioned brown eyeliner, mascara, lipgloss... quite a few things. "I like the cut of your bangs — they flatter your face shape. Do you ever wear your hair in other ways, or it is always braids, though?" A pause. "Just asking."

As she organized on the sink edge, Kozue was appraising the situation: of course, she was already going beyond her mandate of cleaning Yoshimi up so she could get back to class. Wouldn't neatening her up in general fix the problem, too? After all, if boys started approaching her, she'd quickly realize that Misaki had been wrong, and feel better. And there were few girls in their year who had gotten attracting Nanakamado boys down to a science quite like Kozue had.

And sure, she couldn't do everything here in the school toilet, but they could at least get a start, and it would get Yoshi's mind off of the whole boy-repellant thing. Hopefully. Instead of just making her even more sensitive about it: oops. Hope it doesn't go that way.

Kiriko stood back, looking appraisingly at Yoshimi to evaluate the truth of Kozue's statement and watching her set up for far more than a general cleaning-up. She nodded, eventually. "If you aren't sure how else to wear it, I mean, we could probably help with that too."

She had already figured out where this was going and how it would help Yoshimi. That acting as a good samaritan happened to intersect with one of her spheres of interest was just a happy coincidence, naturally.

"Here, her skin tone's closer to mine," Kiriko said, stepping forward and withdrawing items from her purse. "So use this one. And I think a peach gloss would be better than a rose gloss, in her case..."

For the moment there was nothing they could do about the frumpy wardrobe, but that was correctable, too, provided the help they were giving Yoshimi extended beyond this particular incident in the girl's bathroom.

"You know, if you wanted, Kozue-san and I could teach you how to do this stuff yourself..." She made the offer coolly, with only a faint smile to suggest that she found the prospect of a makeover rather exciting.
