Who: Everyone (all currently apped characters are the unfortunate locked in people who were gathering equipment WHAT A BIZZARE COINCIDENCE)
What: Paradise/Sports Day
Where: Locked Gymnasium/Paradise
When: Morning, Friday, Just after exams
Why: Butts

The weather couldn't be better for sports day. It hadn't rained all week and so the ground was firm. The sun beat down through a cloudless sky.

The janitor walked through the school, locking the classroom doors so that people couldn't sneak in to get to thier classmate's possessions. Not that Nanakamado's students were thieves.

The gymnasium door was meant to be left open, students were gathering equipment from the store room there still, but he forgot and went through his normal routine of locking every door in the school.

“Alright, which one of you geniuses locked the damned door?” Reizo snarled, balancing a large container precariously in one arm as he fiddled with the door knob with the other. Yeah, it was definitely locked. Jackasses.

The container clattered to the floor, lid popping off and the various balls inside strewing out, some bouncing, others rolling, when the boy dropped it to try and power the lock open. He was damned strong, that much was evident, but the stupid door handle did not want to budge.

He snorted and let go of the handle, opting instead of wander off to the side and lean against a wall, taking the classic COOL pose with his arms crossed at the chest and one foot lifted up to rest against the wall. He glared coldly at Kiriko, the stupid girl who’d somehow managed to trick him into bothering to help in the first place. He’d already got her promise for free vending machine food, why’d he have to get greedy and opt to do her share of the set up as well?

He mentally kicked himself.

Misaki was carring a box with the sashes in it. Her teacher had asked her to get them so that the first year classes would have a way of identifying each class. She carefully walked out onto the gym floor, making sure not to leave marks with her sneakers and thought about how much fun it was going to be. She really didn't like sports all that much, she had never been good at it, but her younger brotehers and sister had come to watch, so she was going to try her best out there for them.

"Huh?" Misaki had been in a small day dream about winning an award for being the fastest on the short sprint, when she saw a ball come rolling towards her. "Ball?"

Picking it up carefully, she examined it before spotting another and another, soon she was carrying three...four...five balls. She followed the trail back to where it had come from and spotted Reizo standing by a wall in a pose that seemed like something out of a drama. He was acting all cool and sure of himself.

She smiled brightly as she came over, "I think you dropped your balls Shirai-san! I picked most of them up for you. Um...why are you standing out here?"

He regarded the girl cooly, dark eyes skating up and down her before finally settling on her face. Still too damned cheerful. And her hair. People always bitched (well away from him) about his being dyed, but a sweet girl dyes her’s pink and no one gives a hoot! .. Maybe she didn’t dye it. He frowned and looked harder at the girl, or her hair anyway.

“Nothing, Rabbit. Someone locked the door.”

He tilted his head back to look up at the windows. Way too high to reach by normal means, and he didn’t a damned ladder anywhere. Maybe he could throw someone light up and the could grab the ledge.. Naw, that wouldn’t work, but it might be damned funny to see.

"Rabbit?" She gave him a quizzical look not sure what it ment but rolled with it. She was always being called meaner names then that, so rabbit was something that she took with stride and smiled.

"Well, does anyone have a cellphone? Maybe we can call someone to unlock the door?" She said calmly and put the balls into the box. "Shirai-san you should be more careful though dropping these, someone could have tripped, or you could have dropped it on your foot."

"Lies." Kanaye, not believing Reizo, walked over to the door and tried to open it. Then he tried to open it again. He started contemplating ramming the door when he realized that someone has given him a gift. He never was very devout, but he'd have to give his next paycheck to the local shrine. Locked in a room with lots of women in high school PE uniforms. Obviously, the gods have smiled on him today.
Trying to suppress his grin, he turned to Reizo, and made an apologetic face.
"Looks like I owe you an apology. It really is locked." Kanaye made dramatic show of sighing, and made one last dramatic pull of the door. No luck.

Misaki bent over some to look at the handle after they had tried it and poked at it some. "Well if it's locked, maybe we can try moving it differnt ways? I know at my house when the doors get locked if you jiggle the handle some and twist it a lot, the lock will un pop, and aren't these older locks?"

She looked at Kanaye, "Or maybe someone can pick it or something?"

Toshimi loved Sports Day. It was a bigger deal at her old school than it seemed to be at Nanakamado, but she was still having fun anyway. Exams were over, she was signed up for a few events that she felt confident about, and she'd finally been able to stop picturing a certain scene whenever she opened doors. Eager to get Sports Day started, she'd volunteered to move necessary supplies from the gym.

She carried a box over to the door. "The door's locked?" she asked. "That's weird, it was fine a few minutes ago." She looked around. Her old gym had a few entrances. "Is there another door, then?"

If the look he’d given the pink-haired girl in his own class had been chilly, the one he shot towards the upperclassman, an overdramatic blonde, was hypothermia inducing. He hadn’t actually spoken to this bozo yet, but he almost instantly disliked him-- he had just called him a liar, too.

“I just said that, senpai. You ain’t callin’ me a liar, are you?” The timbre was a few notes above a growl.

“Oh, you too!” he added when Toshimi moseyed over.

From across the room, another figure came into the picture, carrying a box containing a variety of pinnies with numbers attached, so as to identify the various participants of Sports Day. Not that Ito Keiichi cared much about sports, but being helpful was very important.

It didn't hurt that the room was currently housing several rather...attractive co-eds. Not at all.

He was, though, surprised to see several of his fellow students huddled around the door to the gymnasium.

"What's going on, everyone," he asked, cocking an eyebrow at the group, and then more specifically at the door that seemed to be everyone's focus. "Door doesn't work?"

Kiriko returned the nasty look as soon as his back was turned, tossing her hair over her shoulder. Her second dirty look went to the blonde second year who was very obviously checking out Misaki's legs. She was glad she had waited to change.

Stepping away from her position against the wall, she approached the offending door.

"It must have been one of those automatically locking ones. We shouldn't have let it close..."

She looked behind her to the rest of the room.

"I've got extra pins if anyone wants to try picking it."

Shiori had been relying on peoples voices to guide her way, the two boxes she had balanced in her arms blinding her slightly. If the top box was just a bit smaller, she would have been fine, but all she could really see was the top of people's heads. The boxes weren't particularly heavy, either, being mostly filled with the plastic stripes used to make cheap "fences" of sorts. Still, when the rest of the group stopped Shiori didn't hesitate in bending to drop the boxes down onto the ground. Massaging her hands with a slight grimace, Shiori turned when Ito-san from her class asked what was going on.

"It's locked, I guess," she said. "I have no idea how to pick a lock though, and aside from just banjo-ing it or finding another door I'm outta ideas."

She paused, glancing down the hall behind them. "Eurgh, imagine how creepy this would be if it was at night though! There'd totally be a kil- er, a creep running out."

Considering the recent murder of one of her classmates, it would probably be wise to omit "murder" or anything associated with the word out of the conversation.

Reizo’s expression twisted and fluctuated when the door actually opened. That rumor couldn’t be true, right? Just the lock must’ve busted.. Why wouldn’t it after he’d tried to open it? Yeah, that must’ve been it. Still, he pushed away from the wall and sidled out the door, stopping once he’d taken a few steps and looked around. The world was strangely quiet; shouldn’t they heard the distant shouts of the other students all getting ready for the big day?

Frowning, he went back into the gym to collect the balls into the container again.

“Great. Kiriko, you better pay up once I’m done doing your stupid physical labor.”

Hiro blinked as the door swung open. "...Strange. I wouldn't have thought that would have worked." He muttered. Apparently that strange rumour was true after all. Who'd have thought it. "Well, at least the door is open." He noted, beginning to head out the door. "We should try to hurry. We're already late." He noted.

Maeko considered saying 'Told you.' Honestly, she hadn't thought it'd work at all. She'd just wanted to see Misa try it.

"Woah, it really works? Those must be the worst locks ever...ah well, he's right. Let's get to it. They can't start until we bring the stuff to set everything up, after all." She chirped, pushing the bag up her shoulder again. It kept slipping down. "Should we close it? We might get in trouble if we just leave it open."

Kanaye shook his head.
"We might, but it might lock again if we close it, and we can't be sure that turning the handle backwards would work twice."
He picked up the bag of footballs he was supposed to bring for Sports Day and turned to the crowd.
"Akiyama-kun is right. We really need to get this stuff to the fields, pronto."

Well. That seemed to have done it. "I'm all right, Misaki-chan," he replied once the shock wore off. "I just didn't expect it to," actually work? "open so suddenly, that's all." He ran his fingers through his hair, putting it back into place.

"I agree with Satou-senpai. We can't afford to waste more time here, we need to hurry." He balanced the javelin tube he carried against his shoulder.

Shadows!
[info]daioujou
2009-05-27 06:41 pm UTC (link)
Paradise was a refuge of tranquility and contemplation. Shadows were encroaching across the floor from around the corner. A long arms was used to pull one into the foreground. These weren't people who wanted to be here, they knew; they were intruders into their world.

Soon, there were three of them.

They were looking at everyone from behind a large blue mask, and had a shadowy face, a large body and twisted arms. The air was suddenly filled with apprehension. Their surfaces began to change. It shrunk in and then expanded to a white sphere, criss-crossed with red stripes; the masked sides spun round to reveal elongated lips with rows of sharp teeth.

A puff of smoke and a sigh later, Reizo was watching several of the monsters disappear as rapidly as they’d appeared. He wasn’t a rocket scientist, but it didn’t take one to put two and two together. Watching Toru nearly confirmed it, and being the good scientist he was, Reizo tested his new theory and flipped open his phone again.

Before he could hit redial, his eyes went wide and he started gesturing wildly towards the back of the group.

“Oi, oi!” He bellowed, getting an eyeful of the newly encroaching shadows. Was Misaki right, was this really a dream? If so, why wasn’t he just in his underwear like he normally was.. But that damned dog biting him felt too real.

“MOVE!”

Kanaye sighed at the childish display. What, was he not moving fast enough for the poor little oyabun? Honestly, some people just have no patience. Why would he care anyway? It's not like Reizo had to wait up for him.

However, Kanaye's mind went into overdrive. It was little too frantic, like he was trying to make them run away from something. Slowly, he turned around...

And decided that Reizo was a very, very wise man. Kanaye sprinted towards the closest person he could find, Aoi, grabbed her arm, and started pulling her, screaming to everybody.
"RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!" Only after he was at a safe distance (read: behind Reizo) did he release the grip he had on Aoi's arm. He stared in wonder at the...things, whatever they are.
"What are those things?" He wondered.

"Huh? Satou-senpai what's the matter? Uh..." she was suddenly pulled to her feet and found herself noticing Reizo was gesturing behind them. She turned to look behind and saw that there were the strangest of creatures she had ever seen blocking the way back to the gym. Not even her imagination would call this up. The things with the long teeth and wicked grins were floating there ready to eat them.

Satou's voice caught her off guard and she let out an ear splitting scream, that if it were a dream, because clearly it had to be, would have probably been heard outside and someone would have come busting in. But, since no one did, and her fear was overwhelming her she did the one thing she could think to do. Which was to run as fast as she could, in the opposite direction of the grinning creatures. When she wanted to Misaki could be fast on her feet, and this was one of those times that she was glad she was.

"Wha...What are they! What do they want?" She ducked behind Satou, who was behind Reizo, at the front trembling like a scared rabbit about to be pounced on by a hungry wolf.

After the weird cell-phone apparitions had faded, Toshimi was ready to shake it off and get back to Sports Day. Then Reizo gestured unmistakable "behind you" gestures. He looked pretty serious. Toshimi turned and looked. Sure enough, there were some pretty terrifying creatures approaching them. There was a certain chill in the air, Toshimi had no doubt about that. But those things were no more fantastical or disturbing than the things they'd just called on their cell phones. And what was more, these didn't seem to be going away like the other ones did. Other people seemed to be panicking. Toshimi was more curious than anything. They were undoubtedly creepy, but what were they?

So, instead of running away, she took a few steps in the direction towards the...whatever. They didn't seem to have ears, so verbal communication was out. Instead, she carefully reached an arm toward them...and one of them clamped its demonic mouth down on it. Toshimi immediately yelled out in pain, shaking her arm all over the place. The shadow didn't seem to be interested in staying latched onto her arm, so it detached within a second or two. Toshimi backed away, still flailing her arm, in which the monster's teeth had left a series of bleeding punctures.

She winced, looking at her arm. "Shit, that hurts! Whatever they are, they're not holding back!"

"I'm fine," Misaki smiled at Maeko and was going to head over to her when a lighting flash caught her attetion. She glanced over to a window and saw that it was raining. It had not been when they first got there. What did that mean exactly. She had her hands placed against the glass when a giant thunder rumbled and made her jump back, biteing her lip so as not to cry out. Misaki covered her mouth with her hands, trembling, and then pulled them away when she felt she could speak. When she did so she realized that she could taste the metalic copper taste of blood on her lips and saw that it was on her hands.

The young freshman's eyes slowly widened and she gasped. If she was bleeding now, that meant that when her Senpais were attacked...those things...those horrible scary things...they could have seriously hurt...no even killed her Senpais. Misaki suddenly felt ill and shook as she leaned against the wall of the hall. She shut her eyes and tried to think. Swallowing her mind went back to outside.

Outside...there was a storm outside...lighting and thunder and those...things that had attacked them, whatever they were, were also out there too. Her heart gave a tremble of fear realizing then that her siblings were out there, in the rain, with the creatures on the prowl. If they attacked the group what would stop them from attacking three children?

Tomako, Nami, Keito....I have to get them in here. I have to make sure they're safe. Misaki thought and threw all logic out the window as she turned and headed away from the group and down the corridor to the stairwell. She knew she had to get to the front door. She could get her siblings back inside.

"Misa?" Maeko said, alarmed by the thunder herself but able to stay calm because Misaki wasn't. "Misa, you're bleeding...are you okay? Here." She produced a white handkerchief with happy apples on the corners from the one pocket on her gym t-shirt and held it out but Misaki had already gone.

"Mi- Misa-chan! Get back here, don't leave the group!" Maeko yelled, ignoring her own instuctions and racing down te corridor after Misaki.

She wasn't thinking of anyone but herself at the moment. She was thinking of her sibings but not in the way that she normally would. Her main fear was coming out. What if something happened to them...then she would be alone. Alone. The word echoed in Misaki's mind as she heard the empty echos of her foot-falls down the corridor. Was this how Sato-senpai felt before he...No she couldn't think like that. But, his image and Oubai-senpai's kept flashing in her mind. What if Sato-senpai was really in this world, what if they were wrong and that boy at the desk had not been him.

She was convincing herself it had to be that, nothing more then that. Sato-senpai was alright. He was here, he had to be here! She hurried down the steps, nearly tripping over them as she ran. Behind her Misaki heard foot steps rushing behind her. The young freshman paused when she got to the door leading outside. Her hand was on the handle but she wasn't sure if she could open it or not.
