Who: Everyone (all currently apped characters are the unfortunate locked in people who were gathering equipment WHAT A BIZZARE COINCIDENCE)
What: Paradise/Sports Day
Where: Locked Gymnasium/Paradise
When: Morning, Friday, Just after exams
Why: Butts

The weather couldn't be better for sports day. It hadn't rained all week and so the ground was firm. The sun beat down through a cloudless sky.

The janitor walked through the school, locking the classroom doors so that people couldn't sneak in to get to thier classmate's possessions. Not that Nanakamado's students were thieves.

The gymnasium door was meant to be left open, students were gathering equipment from the store room there still, but he forgot and went through his normal routine of locking every door in the school.

Toru dully looked up when he heard the door open. Huh. They figured it out. Oh well. He honestly had hoped that they'd be stuck in there for longer, so that he wouldn't have to worry about being forced to compete. Nonetheless, the supervisors would be upset if he disappeared with nothing to show for it. He made a show of grabbing a number of lacrosse sticks (Did they even need those? He wasn't sure...) before following the rest of the group.

Reizo tipped his head back, container back in one arm as he fished his phone out with his other hand. Vibration function truly was the best setting for the young delinquent on the go, or rather on the skulk. Someone as popular as him.. Well, he’d just be announcing his damned presence wherever he went if he didn’t switch off the ring. Not a good thing when you had teachers constantly looking for you.

He frowned at the screen, puzzled. The number was foreign to him. Maybe one of his ‘buds’ stole a new cellphone again. Idiot, what if some.. Naw, that was paranoid. It stopped buzzing a moment later when he flipped it open and answered it, casting a furtive glance back at the gaggle of happy morons behind him. The line was dead quiet, much like the school grounds they were walking-- no birds were singing, no shouts or laughs were off in the distance. Hell, not even the wind was blowing.

The only sounds Reizo heard were the people behind him and the voice on the other line, rasping out a single word: “Persona.”

Puzzlement gave way to anger. Who would crank call him? .. Sounded like an old man, too. What the hell. Reizo veered off-course and set the container down, leaning against a nearby wall as he ran through a mental list of curses to yell at the guy. Settling on one, he smashed the redial button and opened his mouth to snarl out a curse when the douche bag picked up.

Time seemed to freeze for Reizo then, the snarl dying on his lips as a sharp pain spiked in his head; it felt like someone had reached down and ripped a piece of grey matter out. Something black and ephemeral encircled the large boy, and when it cleared one of the largest, ugliest dogs he’d ever seen was sitting on its haunches in front of him, pink tongue lolling as it stared up at him.

Kiriko had been walking behind Reizo when he stopped dead. Thinking it some kind of joke, she shot him another dirty look.

"Quit fooling aro--"

Her mouth fell open halfway through the sentence. Swirling light and what looked almost like shards of glass had surrounded Reizo and vanished as quickly as it had appeared. She stared wide-eyed first at the stunned-looking larger boy, before following his gaze to the slobbering dog-like thing sitting on its haunches just in front of them.

Her cell phone rang.

The noise coupled with the sudden apparition sent her jolting into the air with a brief shriek. The noise was very nearly drowned out by the sound of many of the other phones ringing, all in unison. Looking horrified, she stepped daintly behind Reizo to put him between the dog-thing and herself before flipping open her phone and whispering into the reciever,

"H-Hello?"

Maeko took a few steps back from the large dog, wrapping both hands around the strap of the bat bag. Her own phone rang, though the large dog just ahead was a mose immediate concern. When it didn't move to attack after a few seconds, she flipped it open, pressing the call back button to see who it was.

She froze as a grey, wrinkled hand wrapped around her wrist and spun to face a small, wrinkled old lady perched on the edge of what looked like a bowl.

Misaki had never liked large animals, they had always scared her so when the dog appeared she had let out a scream and wanted to run, but when it didn't attack she wondered if it was even there. She wanted to bolt, get back to the gym and lock everyone inside and call the police.

Then her phone rang and she reached with a trembling hand to pick it up, it was then that she noticed the woman behinde Maeko and she let out a squeak in fear.

"Wha...What's going on here?" she manged to push out."

Something, Keiichi knew, was quite wrong.

The vibration at his hip made him shiver. Everyone else had been answering their phones...and these...things were coming from them. Dogs. Old women.

Stepping back towards Misaki, he turned to the pink-haired girl. "I don't know," he whispered, "but the phones have to have something to do with it. Stay close. I...don't think they're going to hurt us. I hope not, anyway."

With a hard swallow, he raised the phone to his ear, and heard one word, broken up into several slow syllables. The phone remained in his hand, albeit barely, cradled by his palm as nerveless fingers could no longer hold it.

It took everything within him to press redial, and the mere act of doing so dropped the tall, thin boy to his knees, blackness curling at the edges of his consciousness.

"Mi--" he tried, the name cut off by his own sharp scream of pain. Before he quite realized what was happening, there was a....something in front of him. Something he couldn't identify, with red skin and what looked like...three faces??

"I...I..."

Kanaye had no idea what was going on. One minute, everything was ok. They were getting to the field, the teachers weren't getting mad at him, and there were women in bloomers all around him.
And then, an old lady that he didn't even want to imagine in buruma came out of Maeko, who was in front of him. He didn't know how, why, or when, but it probably had to do with her cell phone. Speaking of cell phones, his was ringing at the moment.
Gulping he picked it up and answered.
He heard one word, and one word only.
"Per."
"Son."
"A."
The rest devolved to his dial tone. Gulping, he moved his shaky finger to the redial button, and pressed it.
It was at this moment that someone shot Kanaye in the head, or at least he felt like it. When the pain left, he looked up and saw a blue-skinned man with red armor and a giant spear looking at him.
He nearly passed out at the sight.

Toshimi was surprised by her cell phone ring coming from the box she was carrying. She didn't remember putting it in there. Putting the box down, she reached in and pulled out her phone: a cheap, refurbished model that was made about four years ago, it was the only phone that her father had been able to afford on his own. She pressed the green answer button and held it up to her ear, hearing the same voice as everyone else.

She might not have believed what she was seeing, but everyone else seemed to be seeing the same things. Weird apparitions that definitely didn't belong at the sports festival. She was taken aback. Toshimi felt a little uneasy, but she knew that her schoolmates were redialing this mysterious number that called all of them, and she had to know if the same thing would happen to her.

She redialed and suddenly felt as though she'd just fallen a great distance, coupled with an immediate and intense headache. The feeling faded as quickly as it had come. Standing--or rather, floating in midair before her was a (literally) black-skinned woman in ancient Egyptian garb, carrying a shield with two arrows above it forming an X. Toshimi was surprised, but she forced herself to be calm. There had to be something to explain this. Something rational.

"These are..." she wanted to inform everyone. But she didn't know what these apparitions were. The only hint was the strange call they'd all received. "...Persona...?" she mumbled to herself, unsure of what to make of this clue.

As the apparitions began appearing around them, Hiro did the only thing that came to his mind, he dropped the bows he'd been carrying under one arm save one and then tried to pull an arrow out of the bag of arrows he'd been carrying in his other hand. It was a stupid impulse, but luckily, the attempt to draw an arrow out of the bag with a bow in his other was awkwardly done, and all Hiro succeeded in doing was dropping both the bag of arrows and the one bow he'd tried to hold onto. "Oh, for the love of-!" He muttered.

Then his phone rang, as did the phones of everyone else. The other apparitions didn't appear to be hurting anyone...and now Hiroshi was curious. He checked the number. It wasn't one he recognized, but he accepted the call. The word was said slowly by a voice he didn't recognize.

"Per...so...na..." The voice on the other end rasped.

"I'm sorry, what?" He asked. "You'll have to repeat tha-" But then the call ended. Hiro looked back at his phone curiously. Well...nothing ventured, nothing gained. He hoped he didn't regret this in a few moments and that the apparitions weren't simply waiting to kill them all.

He pressed redial.

And then there was the stabbing pain in his mind, that caused him to jerk. There was light, and suddenly an orange-skinned, slightly inhuman-looking warrior crowned in a golden headdress and mask appeared in front of him. The mask was completely smooth save for a large red orb in its forehead, and it was dressed in light armour and it carried an ornate golden bow. It looked...vaguely Indian?

"That's...strange." Was all he could think to say.

Having watched everyone around her recall the number, Kiriko nervously looked back to her phone. Braced for what would happen this time, she squeezed her eyes shut as she pressed the button, feeling a sharp but fleeting piercing sensation through the back of her skull. Through her eyelids she saw a flash of light, and cautiously, she peeled one eye open.

Nothing.

Again, Kiriko practically leapt into the air, this time after feeling something warm and fuzzy brush up against her leg. Looking down, she saw a gold-tinged fox with nine tails glide past her and sit, waiting, in front of her.

"... Hey, this is a..."

Even over the din, Yuu caught the sound of his cell phone ringing; although it was an older model, he still had downloaded a rather nice ring tone for it (a snippet of one of Mozart's violin concertos in A). Subconsciously, he whipped out the phone and opened it, then hit a button. "Hello? This isn't really a good--"

"Persona," a creepy voice interrupted, making the hairs on the back of his neck stand up on end. The call ended as abruptly as it had come.

Persona? What in the world was that supposed to mean? Was it a warning? He hit redial; the beeps from the number echoed back to him. Seven three seven seven six six two? No Japanese phone number was that short....

And then his head throbbed in agony, his vision darkening. He keeled over with a twitch, but when he raised his head, he saw something strange.

A muscular male figure hovered before him, covered in strange markings and wreathed in blue fire and lightning; his long wild hair looked as though it hadn't been combed in weeks, and he wore a strange skull--an animal's skull with antlers jutting from it, its eye sockets burning with a yellow light--that served as both a crown and a sort of mask that guarded his nose. Two tattered batlike wings beat behind him. His powerful furry legs ended in hooves.

Yuu could only stare up at the figure until he found his voice. "Who...are you?"

The creature smiled mysteriously, saying nothing in response.

"O-Okay Ito-senpai!" Misaki gave a nod and trembled some as he used his phone. Then all hell broke loose and she let out scream of fear as Ito doubled up in pain.

"Ito Senpai!" she cried out and looke up frighted. The thing was staring at him, then she saw Kanaye get shot by some strange man and that's when she tried to scream, but nothing came out. Her phone was still ringing but she was too scared to answer.

"No...No this is a dream. Just a dream. This can't be happening." She was muttering to herself when she saw Hiro drop the bow and arrows and then the strange warrior. What was happening. She didn't understand, she didn't want to understand it. Misaki just wanted to run and leave, but she didn't know where to go.

"Nawanaka-senpai?" she saw her and Hiro both looking calm,or at least atemping to. Her eyes trail over to Kiriko and saw the fox with nine tails. How could this be at all? Such creatures were only in folk lore, or so her sister Shizuka told her over and over. Her eyes drifted over to the strange apperition that appeared to Yuu and she closed her eyes, it was creepy looking. Really this had to be a dream right?

"This is just like your friend, Misaki," she muttered to herself. "This is all in your imagination. None of this is real..."

She swallowed hard, trembling as she picked up her pink cellphone and flipped it open. Her wavering voice was nearly a whisper as she tried to talk through her fear.

"H-H-Hello..." she closed her eyes praying to god that she wouldn't hear a weird voice.

"Per...son...a," the voice said to her and her eyes shot open as terror grip her once more. "Who...who is this? Hello...Answer me!"

She closed the phone and wanted nothing more then to throw it as far from her body as possible. But then she stopped and hit the redial.

When nothing responded she thought the worst was over, then the pain started and she dropped her phone crying out as her head wanted to explode. Something bright flashed, but she didn't have time to see what it was and she was soon closing her eyes not wanting to see what was making her head throb as if there were claws digging into her skull.

Warmth came over her as she glanced up to see a firey red falcon, larger then any bird she had every seen. It's eyes were stranger then anything she could have ever imagined. One was as pitch black as the night but had a silver light swirling in it, as if there were a multitude of stars that twinkled out at her. The other seeme to have a bursting sun in it that shown out with imperial radience. It's wings streched out with a ring of fire around it creating an arch from the top around it's head to the bottom around it's feet, ending at the tips of the opposing wings.

The strange bird was staring at Misaki in a way that indicated it knew something and yet was full of mystery. She gasped out. "What...what are they? Why are they here? What do they want?"

There was nothing Toru could say. He hardly spoke anyway, but... this situation was far from normal. One by one his classmates were answering their cell phones (who knew that so many people would manage to smuggle them in!) and one by one were confronted by bizarre apparitions, nightmarish demons conjured from some subconscious Hell of myth and pop culture.

"This is just like some anime..." he murmured. The words warmed his heart, surprisingly. Anything is possible, I guess... With this thought in mind, he was hardly shocked to feel his phone vibrate in his pocket. Well, until he thought about it for a second. First, his phone shouldn't have been there with him. It was safe back in his locker, concealed in one of his shoes from the prying eyes and hands of strict teachers. Second... nobody had his number. Since he had bought this new phone for gaming purposes only, there was no need to give his number to anyone. Not even his parents or his older sister. There was nobody who would actually be able to contact him via his phone!

Toru pulled the cell phone from his pocket. He didn't recognize the number, but he lifted it to his ear nonetheless. "Yes?"

The response was chilling, slow, and definitely not human. "Persona." Click. It was gone as soon as it came. Is this a prank? Maybe it's one of my classmates... Reizo would do something like this... but Reizo has that dog to worry about... Did someone on 9chan get my number? That's it. I'm being trolled. Well, I'm not going to take that lying down... He hit redial.

And his head began to throb. It was a powerful, unnatural ache, that made everything Toru saw go oversaturated and bright. I guess I'm fainting... is it the heat? No, it was cold. Cold like the breath from that... Huh? A woman's head floated before Toru, who had sunk down to his knees. Not just a woman, but a hideous, rotting, dead woman, whose hair trailed to the ground. With glowing eyes under a ghost's paper headband, it looked at him knowingly.

"What the... what are you?"

It was a staring match of the ages. Reizo’s eyes cut into a glare as he stared at the new mutt, oblivious to the other creatures popping up around him. The advantage of having faced a wall before the monster jiffy pop started exploding, really. The beast stared at the boy, head canted to one side and ears erect, listening, unperturbed by the death scowl the boy was giving it. Reizo was almost intimidated by it-- ALMOST. It was hard not to be scared when a feral looking mutt that reached his upper stomach sitting down, no easy feat given his height, appeared in front of him after a momentary blackout.. Or whatever the hell that was.

Reizo did what came naturally: he kicked it.

The dog responded in kind by catching the kick in a mouth lined with very sharp teeth, growling, and clamping down hard. A mild struggle ensued after that, mainly the large boy hopping on one foot and trying to shake the dog off the other, teeth gritted against the pain of having several very pointy objects now lodged into his lower leg. The wolf powered him forward, and he lost his balance, crashing down hard onto his rump.

So this is how it ends? Mauled by a goddamned dog to death in front of his classmates. Gre--

He managed to catch Toru answering his own phone then.. Hitting redial, and summoning up something that looked like it belonged out of a horror movie. Dumbfounded, and with a growling dog attached to his leg, he fished a cigarette out of his pack and lit it. He didn’t much give a damn about teachers catching him smoking at this point.

“… Is that a kitsune?” He asked, motioning towards the fox at Kiriko‘s feet.

“And that’s a phoenix.. Or about to be dead if it ain‘t,” He added, pointing his lit cigarette towards the flaming bird with Misaki.

He disentangled himself from the dog and stood up, brushing his hands off on the sides of his pants. He wasn’t sure if he was proud of himself for not pissing his pants, or annoyed for being scared in the first place. .. Well it wasn’t like his dad had ever had to deal with this sort of thing, damn it. He took another long look around and then turned to look at the dog. It had disappeared.

Well, that wasn’t creepy at all. Yeah, nothing creepy about random ugly things popping up and staring at everyone, or the biggest dog he’d ever seen just disappearing into thin air! I really shouldn’t of agreed to help Kiriko..

“So..,” he started, snorting smoke out, “Who’s up for a game of run the hell away from the monsters?”

Kanaye, still intimidated by the blue man's spear, happened to notice the confrontation that Reizo took part it. Give it to the yakuza kid to try to kill the giant wolf. When Kanaye finally turned back to the armored man, he had disappeared. Shaking, Kanaye got to his feet. Looking around, dazed, he noticed that pretty much everyone had a spirit or whatever around them. He noted that his classmate had summoned another giant armored man when Reizo's announcement shook him from his stupor. Turning to the smoking kid, he had half a mind to tell him to put out his cigarette, but Kanaye doubted he would listen anyway.
"I'm all for fleeing."

Hiro's attention was momentarily taken from the golden armoured warrior by Reizo's confrontation with the wolf-thing. Well, one thing was certain...they didn't seem hostile unless provoked first. But when he turned his attention back to the golden-armoured warrior, it too was gone.

"What on EARTH is going on?" He asked, baffled, looking around just to confirm the warrior had indeed vanished without a trace.

He loosened his tie. This was very nerve-wracking. "This doesn't make any sense at all..." He muttered.

Misaki gazed up at the bird fixed by it's apperence and she was reaching for it when Reizo's comment took her by suprise. Her eyes grew wide at seeing Reizo so calmly ask such a question with a cigarette in hand while the wolf was chomping on his leg like a puppy on a chew toy. She wanted to ask how he could take that sort of pain, but then mentally reminded herself that this had to be some sort of dream. They were dreaming due to the heat in the gym. That had to be it.

"Uh...I...ah...I think it is...I just..." she mumbled not sure what to make of it. It was then that the bird began to fade. "Wait please don't go...You didn't answer my question..."

By then it was too late the bird had left she noticed that the other apperitions were starting to fade as well. The whole thing seemed a bit curious to her. Getting up she checked on those nearest her Ito and Toru.

"I agree, but what if the others are hurt, we just can't leave them here."
