Who: Everyone (all currently apped characters are the unfortunate locked in people who were gathering equipment WHAT A BIZZARE COINCIDENCE)
What: Paradise/Sports Day
Where: Locked Gymnasium/Paradise
When: Morning, Friday, Just after exams
Why: Butts

The weather couldn't be better for sports day. It hadn't rained all week and so the ground was firm. The sun beat down through a cloudless sky.

The janitor walked through the school, locking the classroom doors so that people couldn't sneak in to get to thier classmate's possessions. Not that Nanakamado's students were thieves.

The gymnasium door was meant to be left open, students were gathering equipment from the store room there still, but he forgot and went through his normal routine of locking every door in the school.

Reizo frowned, watching the battle in front of him. He puffed patiently on his cigarette, cherry red tip bright in the shade. Shade? What? He tipped his head back to look at the sky and cocked an eyebrow. What was a clear, blue sky with fat, white clouds bumbling merrily along had grown overcast. That was quick.. Unnaturally so.

Still, besides the impending rain (would it rain? Those grey clouds looked angry enough for it), something else was happening.. The guys were all fighting the stupid monsters. It calmed him down some when Kanaye kicked it; he’d regularly fought off groups of armed delinquents before, what was a gaggle of goofy--scary!-- looking orbs? Demonic.. Monster.. Orbs.

He looked thoughtfully at his own phone still open in his free palm, hit the redial button himself and ignored the pain spiking through his head. The dog was back, complete with wild grin and pink tongue, staring up at Reizo once more.

“Oi, mutt, go uh.. Uh, go eat one of those.. Things.” He said, shooing it towards the battle. When it stood there, dumbly staring up at him with that happy dog grin, Reizo hunkered down onto his own haunches and leaned in towards its face, head tilted to one side and death scowl back on.

Faced with such an intimidating glare, the dog licked Reizo’s face and somehow managed to steal his cigarette while leaving a large line of saliva directly up the boy’s face.

“Hey, don’t fuckin’ eat that!”

He was dumbfounded when the cigarette popped back out of the massive dog’s maw, still lit. The large canine turned away from Reizo and plopped down onto its stomach, content to watch the battle unfurl.

“… I fucking hate you.”

He kicked it as he stood, eliciting a growl from it but little else.

The hair on the back of Toru's neck stood on end when Reizo had shouted. Normally, I'd think he was crying wolf... but in circumstances like these, I'll just have to trust him. So Toru turned, and saw the... things. Can't help but feel that I've seen these in a game before.

When one bit Toshimi, he felt excited nausea rise in his stomach. They're real. Like that... thing... from my phone. This is... frightening? Cool? But nonetheless, he couldn't do anything. Towards the back of the crowd, he could only watch as Kanaye, Keiichi and Yuu fought the creatures, and Reizo summoned the ugly dog again to no avail. It caught Toru's eye when Keiichi somehow called up fire to strike one of the monsters, and Yuu managed to send out lightning. Is that... magic?

Out of pure curiosity, he hit redial again. Once again, the floating head appeared, breathing cold air and malice at him, smiling with jaws visible down to the bone through its wasted cheeks.

"Well, if this was an RPG, you'd... ah! Use... evil magic! Yeah!" The word "evil" seemed to strike a note with the thing. It breathed out a shivering cloud of darkness, which fell woefully short of any monster it might have helped against.

"Well, that's a start. I guess you're on my side, huh..."

Even in the kerfuffle that was enguing, Maeko felt jealous. Warriors, wolves...and she had an old lady in a bowl.

"You...you should do something too." She said, turning to the old woman who still had a vice grip on her wrist. The woman looked up, face twisting into a smile, and her grip tightened further to the point where it was painful. She raised what looked like a mop and pointed it at Toshimi, throwing her head back and laughing. Something in the back of her mind named what she was going Dia but still she had no idea what it was.

...wait, hers was attacking people? Maeko spun her head toward Toshimi in panic. "Look out!" She said, not noticing as the old woman's grip loosened as she faded away and a pale glow surrounded Toshimi "She's-" She paused as the bites began to close.

Toshimi, amidst the clamor, had been struggling to wrap her arm in one of the sashes (which was more difficult than it looked, since she could only use her other arm) when suddenly she was surrounded by a strange light. The pain of the injury was replaced by a cool comfort as the bleeding stopped. The light, Toshimi figured, was healing her arm. Well, it made about as much sense as anything else that was going on. "Cool," she said. She noticed that Maeko was looking at her and saw her old woman fading away. "Hey, did you do that, Akuba-san? Thank you!"

She stretched her newly-healed arm out and wiggled a bit. She still felt a little sore, but for the most part it felt as if she hadn't been bitten at all. She smiled and cracked her knuckles. It was time for her to repay the creatures in kind. Someone had been carrying some baseball supplies on their way out to the field, so Toshimi put on a glove and stood next to the supply of baseballs. She'd never thrown with the purpose of injuring someone before, so she imagined the monsters as the strike zone. She pounded the first baseball into her glove, wound up, and let a baseball fly. To Toshimi's dissatisfaction the shadow didn't crumble into oblivion as the others seemed to be as they were attacked. But then, she supposed that a baseball to the face could never quite be as effective as being set on fire. Looking around, she wondered if there was anything sharper she could throw...

Well, those apparitions seemed good for something after all, Hiroshi noticed. He kept his hand firmly on the bow he'd picked up, but pulled out his cell phone once more and hit 'redial'. Once more the golden warrior...Arjuna, he realized, appeared before him. "I need your help." He implored the masked visage. "I'm not...I'm not strong enough." He whispered harshly. "Give me your help."

Arjuna nodded and waved his hand over Hiro, who flinched back, expecting...anything. But what he suddenly felt was...stronger. More powerful, thanks to the spell Tarukaja, though how Hiro knew the spell's name was beyond him.

"...Thank you." Hiro whispered to the warrior as it dematerialized once more, its work for the moment done.

Unlike many of the others, Kiriko didn't speak to her respective monster. She was still obviously shaken, but had gone silent and stepped back as the shadows appeared, attempting to process all that was going on. Watching people interact with these apparitions and jump into the fray just made her feel slightly awkward - from her place in the back, she studied the strange masked thing.

There was only one left now, and the fox still sat patiently before her, tails swishing from side to side. Again, she looked down to it. Kitsune, she remembered. Silently, she was grateful that her monster was something recognizeable. She had considered earlier that maybe this was a dream, but already knew that couldn't possibly be true. It felt too real, and unless someone drugged her food or she was losing her mind, this was definitely really happening in some way she had yet to process.

The masked thing roared, and the fox in front of her trilled. She looked at it as it turned its head in question. She knew what it was asking. Feeling faint, she nodded to it - and stood back, awed, as it leapt at the creature, fire spouting from its maw.

Misaki was still behind Reizo and really unsure what to do. She saw the others hit the redial on their phones, but she was still scared to do so.

What if I summon that...it, and it can't do anything to help anyone. I don't want to hurt them but..., she was thinking and glanced at Kanaye who had gotten bitten by one of the shadow things that was there. Gripping her phone she trembled a bit. She had to be strong, after all, her classmates were risking their lives to fight these things. Maybe there was something she could do.

with a slightly shakey hand she hit the redial and before her came the golden fire bird. She felt relaxed in it's light, it was strong, graceful, beautiful to look at. "So kind..." she whispered to herself feeling something from the creature. It was then that the bird looking into her yes and Misaki stared back. A single word formed in her thoughts.

Dia. she thought and the image of Kanaye was refected back from her thoughts to those of the birds. "Please...if you are what I think you are, please help Satou-senpai."

The phoenix let out a cry and flew over to Kanaye, crying out in a regal sounding way, a tears fell from it's eyes, distilling into a silver mist around Kanaye. Misaki blinked as the mist became like sliver liquid that quickly coverd the wound on Kanaye's leg and then evaported leaving nothing behind. It was then that the bird faded as it's wings folded onto itself.

"Ah...Satou-senpai! Are you okay?!" She didn't know what to think.

Kanaye blinked. Then he blinked again. The weird light thing that had washed over him had washed away most of his pain. Looking down, he noted that his wounds had disappeared. Turning around at Misaki's voice, he figured that she was the person that did that. Or summoned the one that did that. Giving her a reassuring smiled, he nodded. "Never better, Misaki-chan. Thanks!"
His face hardened, and he turned to the annoying shadow. Growling, he flipped open his phone, hit redial, and prepared himself for the wave of pain. When it passed, he turned to the blue skinned man.
Indra, is it? he though. The being mentally confirmed, and Kanaye smirked. He was going to enjoy this.
He turned to the shadow that bit him, smiled, and pointed at it. Deciding that it couldn't be a better time to be dramatic, he shouted, loudly and clearly, "Indra, oh almighty warrior of the heavens! Thrash this being of darkness with holy thunder!"
He could almost feel Indra's disbelief. Nevertheless, it complied, sending a bolt of lightning down on the shadow, dissipating it. Kanaye struck a dramatic pose.
He was definitely going to enjoy this.

As the kitsune bounded back to her, dissipating before it reached its spot at her feet, she turned to look at Kanaye. Even in the midst of this crazy situation, she had time to note his dramatics and internally frown upon him. What was with this guy? He really rubbed her the wrong way.

Kiriko sighed and ran a hand through her hair. She looked behind her, to either side, and all around, checking for more of the masked shadows that had assaulted them earlier, and came up with nothing. Then, she looked around to the other members of the group.

"I think we should go back to the gym," she said. "It's probably safer there, and we can figure out what's going on."

Reizo narrowed his eyes at Kanaye’s back. The kick had been amusing and almost helped his opinion of the older boy, but the dramatics were drawing up an urge to run up and smack him upside the head. Still, the shadows were gone and everyone looked no worse for wear, so he decided to not damper the ‘heroic’ mood this was bound to usher in.

But the sprinkling that had started might. He frowned and cast a look up at the sky; the overcast sky had grown darker with thicker, heavier clouds, and he was almost sure he could see thunderheads off in the distance. A boom of thunder announced that he was right, so he did the smart thing and (after giving the cigarette-stealing-and-still-smoking-it dog one more half-hearted kick) sauntered over beneath the edge of the roof. It stood up and followed after him, plopping down beside him beneath the protection of the roof.

He managed to pluck another cigarette out of his pocket and cup a hand over it to protect it against the growing smattering of rain to light it, then shook his match out and took a long, calming drag. He figured he’d wait until he was home alone to go ape shit about what he just saw; seeing fantastical monsters pop out of people’s heads and attack floating ball mouths was not something he was used to, after all.

“Does anyone else feel like someone else is around… or smell them, at least?”

Reizo was making her temper rise, too. Acting so damn cool like that, like what just happened was nothing. This was just his version of a dramatic pose, like Kanaye, and he wasn't fooling her about it at all.

"There are lots of people around," she said, gesturing to their companions and then wiping a drop of rain off her nose. "Let's get back to the gym," she repeated, even more insistant.

"I agree with Ikeda-san, we need to get away from this place for now and figure out what it is, and..." she felt tired. She didn't know why but Misaki felt like a lot of her enegry was gone.

"Does...Does anyone else feel tired?"

Maeko did feel a little tired, as if that old woman had drained away a kind of energy from her that she didn't know she had. "You okay Misa-chan?" She asked, concerned. "Just tired, right? Not hurt at all?"

She nodded, turning to the rest of the group. "She's right, there were none of these things back in the gym. Whatever's going on, we'll be safe there."
