This behaviour really would scream 'abusive boyfriend' if she was a guy, huh?
Who: Maeko, Thomas
What: Oi.
Where: The library
When: Before Toru!Dunjin
Why: He dared to talk to Misaki.

Thomas was out of school. Maeko didn't know why. She did know, however, where he was. His non-japanese appearance made him stick out in people's minds and it made it very easy to ask after him. Eventually she'd run into someone who had seen him enter the library. That was a blessing in itself. She'd been apprehensive about speaking to him for the same reason she was apprehensive about speaking to Reizo about inviting Misaki over to his home and her priveledged knowledge of his...

...in any case, it was possible he'd be less likely to respond with violence in a public place.

"Segaki-senpai." She said from some way behind him. "May I speak to you?"

Maeko nodded, moving to the pile and crouching to lift the books. If nothing else Thomas was organized, the library room seemed more secure than the supposedly-private restuant room. She reminded herself to take note of the room's number, though it wasn't important right now. Her phone was still recording the conversation. That room sounded like a potentially useful place.

"I'll wait for you there, then." She said, making her way toward the room. Once there, she put Thomas' books in a neat pile on a work desk and took a colourful A5 notebook, one of many, from her bag.

When Maeko looked up from the desk Thomas stood in the doorway. He hadn't made his presence known, simply waited instead for the girl to look up. When she did finally look up he spoke quickly.

"You weren't followed."

He shut the door, and walked around the room so that she was between him and the door. It seemed people were more inclined to talk when they weren't trapped in a room.

Maeko took one of several photocopies of the paper she'd taken from Gendou from her notebook. She'd made copies as soon as it was convenient to after and hidden them in her various books in case the council president had changed his mind about trying to take it back by force. The original was at her home, locked away carefully.

"It's a photocopy. I don't have the original in my possession at present but if you require it I can get it for you to examine." She placed the paper, a sheet from Gendou's journal that detailed Sato's schedule both in and out of school, on top of the pile of books. "It's from Retsu Gendou-san's journal. The student council president was stalking Sato in the time before his death. I have yet to determine why. He mentioned 'taking care of Sato' over his phone when he thought I was out of earshot and displayed obvious distress when challenged over his interractions with him."

He took the photocopy, and looked it over with a great deal of scrutiny. When he was finished he turned to Maeko.

"That seems remarkably incriminating. Why give it to me?"

"I told you before already, didn't I? So you'll stop talking to Misa-chan. If something like this'll keep people like you away from her then I'm happy to pass it onto you." Maeko said. "And given the questions you seem to have been asking, I think you're more qualified to make use of this information than I am anyway."

He folded the paper in half, and opened the black bag, slipping it inside.

"Alright then. For the time being, T'll avoid talking to Aoi. You've given me plenty more to focus on anyway."

She had in fact. Between looking into this girl and Ikeda, he could get all the information he needed on that group without needing to speak to either Aoi, or Oubai. And she'd given him enough information to make the Student council president now suspect number 1.

But he still had questions.

"Is there anything else you know?"

"I have logs of what he spoke about at the Anti-Bullying Club prior to being referred to the councelor." Maeko said. "Not on my person, and I'm not totally convinced of their relevance..."

She trailed off again, repeating the same mock-thought action from earlier. "If you manage to find out anything about Retsu-Senpai we could trade, couldn't we?"

He smirked a bit. The poor girl was good, and against someone else maybe she would have held the power, but Thomas knew this game well.

"Or you can give it to me now, that and answer one more question for me. In exchange I can promise to avoid Misaki, even if she does seek me out."

Maeko was a little irritated that she'd not managed to get what she wanted but Thomas seemed to realize already that Misaki had a habit of wandering into trouble. The possibility of her doing that couldn't be ignored. She already had other things she could use against Gendou if he made a move and it wasn't like she'd lost anything by giving Thomas a copy of the note if he was as intelligent as his ability to come up with a place to discuss this would suggest. If he found out anything else she needed to know she could always find other things to trade.

"Fine, but I don't have them now. If you come to the Club Room tomorrow it'll give me time to make copies. What's the question?"

He reached up to scratch his chin.

"Has Retsu ever threatened Kouchiesi Oubai? Or stalked him in a similar manner?"

If Thomas could connect Oubai and Retsu, then that would really help him start to build a case against the President. If not, then maybe Oubai really didn't get kidnapped, or maybe Retsu wasn't the killer.

"I don't know. My communication with Oubai-san has been limited and I only know Retsu-senpai as council president." Maeko said, thinking. "I think they may be aquainted, Retsu sent him messages over the school's journal system when he came back...that's the only communication between them that I know of. Sorry."

She packed the notebook back into her bag. "Are we done now?"

"We are. You can go."

Again with his terse and quick dismissal. He picked up one of the books and cracked it open.

The question ended up inconclusive. Either way he would have had to speak to Retsu, but now he didn't know if Gendou Retsu was a murderer or not.

Maeko nodded and left, turning the record setting on her phone off. Nothing particularly usable, she'd save it anyway. She'd make the copies tomorrow morning before lessons.
