Kindred Artists
Who: Kai and Kouki
Where: Kouki's house
When: When school would normally be taking place, shortly after Seiji's death.
What: Art, movies, and things.
Why: It was a promise.

After the school had abruptly closed, it hadn't taken long for Kai and Kouki to form plans to spend time with one another. They were, after all, good friends who enjoyed the company of one another. And this time, it was to be a meeting in Kouki's house. During an hour in which they would normally be sitting through afternoon classes, they met at the front door and proceeded inside to watch the DVD that Kai had brought with him.

Kouki wasn't one of those kids who had a TV in his room, but he was also fine with this fact. The family's TV was in the main room of the house, with both a couch and a dining table near enough to watch from. At the moment, he sat at the latter, with a sketchpad and pencil held in his hands. He wasn't drawing much, however- he was more focused on the action on the screen. He and Kai (who was sitting on the couch, behind him and out of his field of vision) were watching an animated movie. As the young hero traveled through strange lands, pursuing magic gemstones and getting into outlandish adventures, he intently stared at it, as if it were the most important thing in the world to him.

Kai was particularly fond of Courageous Tale (for reasons that may or may not have been mostly based on the oh-so-pretty animation), but having seen it a few times already at this point, he felt safe in occupying himself with the sketchpad open on his lap. He was currently doodling ideas for things that might look good on Tom for when they went shopping, though he was frustrated by the thought that with these new Paradise revelations, they might not get out to Junes at all.

Frowning, he put his pencil down for the moment and looked at Kouki instead. It was fun to watch his reactions to the movie and how intently he was focusing on it. He liked being able to share things like this with someone - favorite movies and snacks and rituals and even what your pajamas looked like (though he was less psyched about waking up one morning to find his favorite flannels suddenly appliqued, and how he had slept through Kouki doing that to him, he'll never know).

The musical montage scene seemed like a good time to interrupt for a moment. "How is it, Yoshida-chan?"

Kouki did a strange maneuver. It looked as though he was trying to turn his head upwards to Kai, but since the other boy was behind him, it ended up as a sort of half-assed backflip that ended with him lying on the floor, looking up at him.

He then broke into a large grin, despite his uncomfortable position. "It's good, Kai-sama! You have awesome taste in movies." The innocent look on his face emphasized that he was being honest about this fact, as did the rest of his body language.

With his feet, he attempted to reach for the sketchbook that was still on his table. His muscles tensed and his toes wiggled almost dramatically, but Kouki was unable to get a grip on it, and was forced to stand up. After grabbing it, he sat down on the couch with great emphasis.

"I did some sketches of stuff, too! Wanna see 'em now?"
