Entry tags:kozue, misaki, seiko, shadow, toru

as if it wasn't obvious by now...
Who: (Shadow, probably) Kozue, Seiko, Misaki, Toru, OPEN~.
What: Run-ins, adventures, misadventures, etc.
Where: School Corridors.
When: Lunchtime. Just after the KouMail.
Why: Disastrous results.

There was a crash, and a clatter, from inside the School Counselor's office.

Someone yelped.

And then Kozue, still dressed in a pretty black dress you could wear to a funeral and heels that clacked on the floor with stacatto precision, stepped out, shaking her head. "Seriously." She turned back, addressing someone inside. "Career counselor? Are you kidding? If I wanted touchy-feely advice I'd call Madam Patra."

She shrugged, as if to say, well, you get what you pay for or perhaps, who should have expected better, and then walked off. Maybe there were a few not-useless people loitering around during lunch that she could prevail upon to help her out.

If not, well, the rest of Iburi was her oyster and she had only to smash it open.

She furrowed her brow, but when he said the word marry, she was on his heels, interested, suddenly. "I don't know. I don't know, really, at all... Who do you think I should marry?" She looked up at him earnestly, waiting for a response, as if she would really take seriously what he told her to do.

"Statistics suggest that most people who choose their own spouses don't run across such a person until after High School." Tom slipped his hands into his pockets. He looked the petite girl over. He couldn't really define what it was that seemed off.

"What do you're parents think?"

"I hate math," she responded. Then, "What do my parents think of what? What I should do? Who I should marry? The exact quote was whoever you want."

And she said this as if it was a problem.

"So, serious answer, or I have to go on and get to someone who can actually answer it for me."

"Oh you want a distinct answer, my mistake." Tom noted a door up ahead and put a hand to his chin.

"Well, I imagine I should investigate all of your options, to ensure the best possible out come." As soon as they reached the door, Tom opened it, and waited for Kozue to pass through, and then followed her, closing the door behind.

"There is of course the fact that all evidence suggests you are Kondo-chan's shadow."

Deja vu. Slightly. Kozue looked around the room briefly, eyes to windows and closet doors; there were avenues of escape, for her at least, if not for anyone else.

She looked back at Tom and just rolled her eyes. "Okay, fine, you caught me, I've been a naughty girl. Etcetera." She waved her hand. "So, could we skip that part? Are you going to help me or not?"

Tom's eyes went wide slightly. He had been curious over whether or not the shadows actually believed themselves to be the real person, or not.

And while he had considered the possibility of the shadow admitting it, he had believed she would have tried to cover it up some how. And he wasn't at all expecting her to admit it, and then dismiss it so quickly to return to the previous conversation.

It took him a moment to recover, but in that moment he struck upon the pattern in the shadows behavior.

"You want my help... to pick a husband, so you can... figure out your future."

She smirked—apparently it was the reaction she had hoped for. If Shadows hoped for, or wanted things, at least. Who knew. This one certainly seemed to demand on a regular basis, so maybe she did. "No, I just need to know what to do. Husband or not. I don't care. So tell me, or I won't waste my time on you."

Tom let out a breath, and a small grin slid across his face. he crosses his arms in front of his chest. He solidified his stance, being unwilling to to let her take him by surprise again. He quickly ran over anything Kozue might use against him, just in case.

"I'll help. But shouldn't we be giving this advice to the real Kondo-chan? If you take me to her, I'll be happy to provide you with any instruction."

She put a hand on her hip and shook her head. "No. And honestly. You people just don't fucking listen. Advice. Seriously?" She gave Tom a particularly scathing look, and then took a few steps away, further into the classroom.

She looked back over her shoulder after a moment. "Nice try, though."

Tom bit his lip and regarded the shadow carefully. He cocked his head to the side, but stayed in the doorway. He knew that once someone was in Paradise they needed to face them in order to get reintegrated, so unlike the others, he saw no point in making threats toward his shadow.

"Fine then, why not tell me what you want, and maybe I can actually help you."

"It was exactly what I said," she said, frowning slightly. "What do I do? I need to know what to do." She was still several paces away in the room, looking around. "In a way that I won't screw up. I want back what I had before."

"Before..." Tom let out a breath and left before you're grandmother died. It seemed odd to him that Kozue would be hiding such a desire to be controlled. He tried to think of actual instructions to give her, but looking at the face of his close friend he found lying difficult.

"I guess... there's only one thing you can do. Go back to Paradise, and wait there for us to rescue Kondo-chan."

She sighed--it was rich with frustration and a bit of anger--and shook her head. "You want to rescue her, but what good will it do? If there's nothing for her to come back to?"

She crossed her arms and watched Tom. "Are you going to let me out?"

Tom scowled.

"Of course she has something to come back to. She has us, she has her friends, her brother, her mother, all of whom she has a good relationship with. And she has a future! One that she can choose herself!"

Kozue—whatever part of Kozue this was—rocked back slightly on her heels, and her lip curled back, almost in disgust. The outburst had surprised her, perhaps. Or simply something that Tom said had proved distasteful, eminently so, for her whole countenance had changed.

"That's not what we want."

Now, she crossed the classroom again, back to where Tom was standing at the door; she stopped a pace away, just slightly too-close. "Now, it's time for me to go."
