wading in the low end of the diligence pool...
Who: Kozue, Kiriko, and Kouchisei! (K's UNITE. What.)
When: Saturday after school, during Club/Practice time
Where: Near the Tennis Courts - a water fountain.
What: Kozue is "practicing tennis". Really. Breaks are part of practice too.
Why: For the pure joy of random social interaction.

Kozue constantly thanked her lucky stars that the water fountain was just out of view of the tennis courts. Truly, just barely; she could see a corner of the green surface, but no players, no captains, and no gym teacher. And more importantly, they couldn't see her. So she could take her sweet time in having a drink, and getting her breath back. And then having another drink from the water fountain. Maybe thinking about doing her hair, or putting on a little makeup. Surely, the Gym Teacher wouldn't notice, right...?

She was leaning up against the water fountain, and even if her hair was a bit mussed (and in that icky ponytail that the captain insisted she wear), she looked good, and she knew it, too. Even if she hadn't joined the tennis club for the express purpose of the uniforms, well, that was about seventy-five percent of the reason she was staying there. I look good in white. And mini-skirts. She grinned a little, privately, and raised her wrist to check her watch. If she stayed here for oh, say, five more minutes, she could go back and only have to do two more drills - maybe three - before the bell rang and they were dismissed. It was an excellent plan. Then, she could go back to the dorm, take out the stupid ponytail, shower, and go out with her date -- and that was a better plan still.

Feeling proud of herself, she leaned down to take another sip of water from the fountain.

Kou nodded. It was refreshing to see a person who understood the importance of family loyalty; Kiriko was too much of a stranger for him to understand her thoughts on this matter. He pursed his lips. But would she understand the doubts he had about going back into that world? Not only was he escaping from his problems at home, he was terrified of what could happen.

He'd been driven by bravado, perhaps something else created by that place.

"Perhaps later?" he offered.

Kiriko frowned at the two of them. Family obligations? She knew how Kou felt, guilty over letting the family down, but apparently being the odd one out in her feelings about filial loyalty was making her feel almost attacked and subsequently quite annoyed. Of course, that was ridiculous - she demanded of herself that she not let it get to her, and while it was ridiculous to feel they had somehow passed judgement on feelings she'd kept mostly private, it was still difficult to feel any other way.

She looked to Kou.
"I'll hold you to that, senpai."

Kozue nodded, and peered down at her watch. It had definitely been enough time that she'd missed the worst drills - and if she stayed much longer, the coach might miss her. So, it was about time to go back to practice, even though her actual desire to do so was so tiny it practically didn't exist - and even if she'd enjoyed talking to Oubai-senpai and Kiriko a little bit more than she'd imagined that she would.

"I'm sorry, but I must excuse myself," she said, bobbing her head in a short bow, "I need to go back to the tennis court, I've taken long enough for my water break. If I don't hurry, I'll miss the rest of practice."

With Kozue excusing herself, it made Kouchisei think he needed to get a move on. Kiriko's silence hadn't gone unnoticed; he didn't know enough to ask and thought it would be impolite to do so. Plus he needed to go home.

"I suppose I should be going as well." He nodded at the two girls. "Kiriko-san. Kozue-san. Excuse me."

With that, he carried the basket down the hall.
