The Shadowcave Pre-Dungeon Thread
Who: EVERYONE and S!Tom
What: Pre Dungeon Area
When: When they decide to go into the dungeon
Where: A big empty space
Why: I'm not rightly sure...

It should take everyone a little bit of time once they arrive in Paradise to figure out where Tom is. The usual massive structure or odd landscape that ends up serving as a dungeon is mysteriously absent.

It's not until they step outside of the building they were in that they realize there is no terrain, there is nothing outside of the building. It's just a large empty space. A large empty space, and what looks like a door.

When they approach the "door" they discover it is something else entirely. It appears to be a comic book, the size of a door, and it looks like this;

As soon as the party sees this comic book, they realize that they are different. Not just their clothes, but their weapons, even their physical bodies have changed to correspond to the image on the cover. While they are all still the same basic shape, they now appear as they would if in a comic book. In addition to this odd body change is a strange compulsion to explain to all present exactly how their "super" abilities work. The party also finds that they do in fact have super powers now. Anything they're "superhero" can do, with the exception of anything they could already do with their persona.

(For those that have yet to see what you're character is wearing; http://asylums.insanejournal.com/sweetcouch/15547.html)

If anyone touches the comic, it will quickly flip open. This may seem odd to some people, as the page turns from left to right. Beneath the cover is a large page, that has a small portrait of the heroes face, and name next to it down the margins. The words on the page are as follows;

“The Heroes Society of Earth: A group of the most powerful superheroes in the world, banding together despite their differences to defend the Earth from threats no single hero can withstand.

Previously:
Believing that part time teammate, and strategist; ShadowKnight guilty of a grievous betrayal, the team has tracked him down to his secret headquarters, intent on confronting their wayward companion, though what they intend to do once they find him is known only to them.

We join our heroes now, standing in front of Stately Sagaki Manner…”

Of course before you deal with all of that there the small matter of a shadow trying to kill you...

(Note that the shadow attack happens before you guys get comic booked)

Kanaye wasn't the only one who was not sure how to react to Maeko's sudden curves. She was at least glad they were better covered than some of the other team members. The sudden knowledge of how to fight seemed inconsistant and patched together but it was better than what she was used to.

She pulled the cape around her and clenched it closed tightly.

"...what kind of- what." Maeko had no idea how to respond to this. Was Tom really this childish or did he just have a thing for spandex?

Kanaye was visibly saddened by Maeko's reaction, but first things first. "Yeah, Kozue-san! They are! I don't even READ American comics, and these are still amazing!"

In an attempt to gawk at Maeko more without making it look obvious, Kanaye walked over to his girlfriend and put his hands on her shoulders. "Don't worry about it, Maeko-chan." he said happily. "It could be worse, like Misaki-san and Kiriko-san. Really, I think you look amazing! Like, gorgeous!"

"They're..." Maeko trailed off for a second. After some thought of how to do it without letting go, she poked an arm out of the cape to place a hand on top of Kanaye's for a second while still holding the cape closed with the other.

"I'm fine, let's just find Tom and drag him home." She said, withdrawing the hand back into the cape.

"Evildoers of Paradise, prepare yourselves! For no Shadow shall survive so long as the Radiant Hand of Justice shall shine the light of goodness upon you!"

It should really by now go without saying that the speaker is Keiichi, clad in the costume of the ever-popular superhero, Captain Atomic. Looking at his shiny new shield and spandex, he seems...surprisingly happy.

"Amazing Girl! You look even lovelier than usual," he beamed, walking around to get used to the outfit. "Spandex is so comfortable, isn't it?"

For a pro wrestler's son, maybe.

Kanaye looked at Keiichi in wonder before blinking. It obvious had something to do with paradise and these costumes. Keiichi wouldn't be doing this at all if it weren't for this amazing spandex. Neither would Misaki, now to think of it. Oh well. More awesome matters to attend to.

Kanaye smiled a bit at the touch and moved kind of closer. "Of course, Maeko-chan. I wouldn't have it any other way."

Misaki blushed, it was a bit comfortable, save for the fact that the bra was built in and there was limited support to that. She flushed deeply and noddeed, "Yes, I guess it is...but...It's a bit revealing."

She very carefully sifted her cape to cover at least part of the frontage that was threatening to pop out. Muttering she added, "I just hope it stays up."

Upon noticing that everyone else was suddenly appearing as they did on the comic book cover, Masami looked at herself.

...Well, at least the outfit itself was better than those of some of the others and... wait, had her chest grown larger?

...Indeed it had. Not as much of a change as, say, Renju and Maeko had undergone, but still a noticeable one. Suddenly feeling very embarrassed, Masami quickly wrapped her arms around herself in an attempt to cover up using the wing-like... whatever they were on her arms. It was not a very successful attempt.

"Umm..." she began to say, but she really had no idea what else to say. Giving up on trying to hide behind the wings, she contented herself to just sipping some tea from her travel cup in an attempt to calm down. This was much more successful.

Yoshimi was shocked. Not by the tightly clinging bodysuit, which was more or less par for the course in Paradise, but by the fact that suddenly, she had curves! Substantial curves! She easily could have wasted fifteen minutes adjusting to this new development, but her attention was almost immediately drawn to other matters as a rather familiar-looking ferret scampered up to meet her.

"Ji... Jiro?" she asked, incredulous. It couldn't be her pet, not in Paradise, but it couldn't be any other ferret — Yoshimi would have recognized those cute little face stripes anywhere. "How'd you get in here, buddy?"

'Naturally! For I am a Shadow, the true self.'

Yoshimi blinked. Her ferret, or its doppelganger, was speaking to her in complete sentences. She felt strangely compelled to share this information with the group; some small part of her hoped that the whole thing would sound less crazy if she could just say it out loud.

"Wait, you're Jiro's repressed self! And I can understand you because of the Curse of The Ferret, which has followed my family for generations!" Nope. Still sounded crazy.

Somewhat confused by Yoshimi's sudden outburst about the Curse of the Ferret, Masami decided she'd take a closer look at the comic book to see if it had any explanations to offer, both about that and about everyone's(herself included) newfound aliases.

Of course, she somehow hadn't quite realized that she was wearing high-heeled boots, and upon trying to take a step, she immediately stumbled. In an attempt to regain her balance, she grabbed onto Keiichi, who just happened to be the closest person to her.

She was quite surprised when, rather than dragging Keiichi down with her, she dragged him... up. "Umm... I guess I have the power to fly?" she said, "That's actually pretty handy."

Setting Keiichi down, she suddenly realized how incredibly uncomfortable the boots felt on her feet, so she busied herself with removing them. "Umm... sorry Ito-san. I hope I didn't surprise you or anything..."

This kind of situation fascinated Toru. No matter how horrible Paradise was to him, it never failed to provide him with places, things, and outfits that he wouldn't have dreamed of seeing outside of games and manga. This time especially. Thanks to his life on the internet, he was able to identify the team's new costumes as ones drawn from American comic books. He wasn't a fan of the genre. The art, designs, plotlines... they were all foreign to him in more ways than one, and he dismissed them as ugly wastes of time. But in a place from Tom's mind? That was unusual. Did Tom like comics secretly? Was that why everyone had to wear ridiculous outfits?

He had mulled this over for a while, having paid minimal attention to Kanaye in spandex (a rarity) or indeed anyone else, when he noticed that he too had changed into a costume... one that covered his entire body, including his face. It was... a robot suit? Not a massive mobile suit, as he would've preferred, but one that fit close to him, like armor, or the cyborg body of that samurai in Steel Cog Plasma. Not an inch of his normal appearance was visible. He could've jumped for joy.

Instead, he blurted out "All right, Shadows, watch out! I'm no Machine Man, but I've still got 200-plus reasons in this suit to keep you from trying anything with me!" A pause. "D-did I just say that? What the...?" His voice echoed mechanically whenever he spoke, resonating from speakers inside the suit itself.
