School Trip, Day One. (Bus Ride, Eating Somewhere and Onsen)
Who: EVERYONE (npcs welcome)
What: Bus Ride, Eating, Onsen, Night 1 at hotel.
Where: ON A BUS
When: Late May
Why: We like trips.

Aomori-sensei was clearly not in the best of moods. He hadn't been for a while. Still, there was an air of excitement about the students who were assembling to get on the buses as they chose thier seat partners and talked. It wasn't every day that they went on a school trip. Very few of them had been paying much attention in the half-day of lessons before. Even Ishino-sensei looked the happiest she'd been since the incident.

She went through the lines of pupils, checking thier permission forms, while Aomori and Banno-sensei herded them into the coaches.

Kozue thought this last comment over for a moment, before shaking her head. "Your fault? Probably not, I think I stumbled in on my own. Mostly. I suppose it was meant to be, considering..." She waved one hand in a circle nearly at head level - apparently this gesture was meant to convey head gods. Persona. Whatever.

But this was Kiriko's room mate? What kind of constant suffering must that be? Kozue's expression nearly said that, or at least conveyed a deep sympathy, as she continued on in a low tone: "Oh, I'm sorry for your... uh, bad luck, I suppose. Ayako-chan likes to talk, but she's a better student than I am, so," she shrugged. "It kind of balances out." Ayako also snored - a fact which Kiriko's room-mate, and probably a larger section of the bus, as well, would be finding out sooner or later.

"But I'm okay. How are you doing?"

She caught the sympathetic look and it brightened her considerably. Kiriko took rather well to being sided with, apparently. At the apparently conversational question, however, she merely shrugged and seemed to lapse back into her trademark passivity.

"Fine. That place we went was a disaster, so anything is better. Like I said, it will be nice to get away. Oh-- but my birthday's soon, I might have a party." She mused on this for a moment, head tilted up for maximum musing efficiency.

"Is anything new with you?"

"It's your birthday soon?" It was Kozue's turn to brighten, although not as markedly as Kiriko had. "That's exciting - you should make sure to have a party." Birthday parties were great excuses to get stuff, after all - be pampered and all that. "You could probably tape off one of the common use rooms at the dorm for it, really... Or go somewhere." She shrugged: she'd have chosen a place off campus if it were her party, but she wasn't exactly expecting Ikeda-san to have anything unsavory or inappropriate for the dorms at her birthday party.

"Hmm. Aside from what happened last week, things have been normal," Kozue conceded after thinking it over for a moment.

"There's a small hall you can rent nearby, actually. I was thinking of having a party there - and it's close enough that people can head back to the dorms with whoever when they're drunk enough." She waved a hand dismissively and did her best not to look implicating. Kozue's reputation with boys preceeded her, but it didn't much bother Kiriko and she'd hate to give that impression anyway.

"I don't know how fun I could make it, but more than that, I don't know who I'd invite. Still, though." The end part of that sentence was meant to be 'but presents are nice,' though she decided to leave that part off. "Are you any good at planning parties? I don't go to too many." There was a bit of a rueful note in her voice, though her expression stayed neutral.

"I've thrown together a party or two," Kozue said, nodding, in that understating-things-because-it's-polite way. She'd been taught how to do a full and proper tea ceremony, for heaven's sake: she could throw a birthday party. "If you'd like help, I'd be delighted to pitch in wherever I can." Including the guest list - although that would be an interesting challenge.

"Although really... The dorm can be pretty strict about who goes into what rooms. But it is good to not be too far from the dorm in any case," she shrugged, only realizing a moment after speaking that that really did make her sound... about as much of a serial dater as she was, actually. Of course she knew how likely it was that she'd be able to sneak a boy into her room. (The answer: even if Ayako had allowed it, not likely at all. Kozue liked herself as a student, not an expelled student, thanks.)

"Well, if they wander back to the dorms from my party across the way, then it isn't really my fault, is it?" She shrugged. Clearly, she'd already thought that one out. "You could help? That would be great, actually. A couple of my friends have been doing most of the work. It was their idea, I told them I didn't really care either way, but they insisted. Now they keep asking for my opinion on what I like."

She leaned back in her seat, glancing out the window to the gates of the school. The gesture and the way she'd spoken indicated that she saw no reason why she should be able to answer a question such as "what do you like." With a small shrug, she looked back to Kozue.

"Anyway, your help would be good - between us, they're pretty incapable. I guess I should invite our whole 'team' to come, huh?"

From where Kozue was standing, it seemed like Kiriko's position on and knowledge about how long it would take drunken couples to stumble back to the relative safety of the dorm might have also come from the friends who were doing the lion's share of the party planning. It wasn't bad - but it didn't seem like her style. After all, she was kind of famous in recent school legend: no confession to Class 1-B's Ikeda Kiriko had ever ended well, and all that.

"If you're going to have a relatively large party, you probably should. I wouldn't want to snub any of them, if I was you." Being in a bus filled with prying ears, Kozue didn't feel particularly like explaining that comment, but Kozue certainly wasn't interested in so callously snubbing people who she might have to trust with her life in a month or two. "Have your friends picked a theme or anything?"

"No, they keep asking me for one." Again, she waved her hand a bit dismissively. "Last I heard they were saying something about winter or butterflies or maybe both. Whatever's easiest, I guess. They spoke to my parents and my mom said she'd pay for it, so..."

Kiriko stopped mid-sentence, made an odd sort of face and continued on to something else.

"Yeah, I guess I'll invite everyone, then. Shirai and Sagaki probably won't show, so that just leaves Satou to create headaches for me all night," she chuckled.

"And he's only one person. If it's a large party, one or two people shouldn't bug you too much," she offered. Even if the one aggravating person was Satou, who seemed to derive some kind of joy from stepping out of bounds. "But as far as themes go, winter seems a bit unusual for a summer birthday." She shrugged - yes, the theme did immediately remind her of Kiriko, but it was also nearly June. Wouldn't that be a bit odd? And she'd never seen a winter butterfly before. Was there such a thing?

"But I like the butterflies," she said - not wanting to observe the first thing that had come to her mind, either because it would have been cruel, or because there was an outside chance that there was some kind of rare winter butterfly somewhere.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." She tipped her head back against the seat, eyes pointed up to the roof of the bus, apparently distracted. "Well, it shouldn't matter beyond decorations, right? Anything's fine with me, I guess."

She craned her neck in time to see Gendou catch a handheld in the back of the head and slide into a seat nearby. This didn't seem to perturb her, though she settled back into her chair once it had happened and turned to look at Kozue, dropping her voice somewhat.

"Did you hear what just happened?" she asked, jerking her head in the direction of Reizo's seat.

Kozue had still been staring at Gendou, in a mixed fit of sympathy and rubber-necking, trying to figure out how someone's handheld had slammed into the back of his head - the bus hadn't, like, jerked that much, had it? Snapped out of that train of thought by Kiriko's quiet question, Kozue looked back to her classmate.

"Oh, uh, no," she said, shaking her head after a moment. But she was clued in to the fact that something was, apparently, happening. At least enough to drop her voice as well.
