School Trip, Day One. (Bus Ride, Eating Somewhere and Onsen)
Who: EVERYONE (npcs welcome)
What: Bus Ride, Eating, Onsen, Night 1 at hotel.
Where: ON A BUS
When: Late May
Why: We like trips.

Aomori-sensei was clearly not in the best of moods. He hadn't been for a while. Still, there was an air of excitement about the students who were assembling to get on the buses as they chose thier seat partners and talked. It wasn't every day that they went on a school trip. Very few of them had been paying much attention in the half-day of lessons before. Even Ishino-sensei looked the happiest she'd been since the incident.

She went through the lines of pupils, checking thier permission forms, while Aomori and Banno-sensei herded them into the coaches.

Reizo didn’t bother looking up from the handheld he was playing with; it was a little odd to see the feral boy so engrossed in the small screen, but he had something of a reputation for breaking them by whipping them at some poor schmuck’s head when they annoyed him. The fact that it was the biggest wall he had up at the moment to distract him from the annoying chatter of his schoolmates was really the only reason Gendou wasn’t choking on it.

“Find a different seat,” he said, voice barely a register above a growl and the warning unmistakable. The death glare he leveled the older boy with when he finally looked up from the handheld only drove the message home deeper: quit fucking around if you want to keep breathing.

A chill ran down the back of Toru's neck. He felt the sensation of being watched... by the guidance counselor. He suddenly felt very awkward about sitting alone, and quickly stood up to move. It seemed like the majority of people had already found a seat-mate, and there weren't many places where he would have been comfortable. I suppose, at the very least, I should sit in a seat near some people... He picked a seat at random, having picked up on conversation going on.

Of course, it happened to be the seat right in front of Reizo and Gendou.

He rolled his eyes and cast a quick look at Toru, "Ishinomori-kun, do you think it's fair that someone as big as Shirai-san take up all that space on a seat that clearly can fit two people? If he chooses not to move, as it would increase his reputation that he showed some concern for his fellow classmates if he did, would you be opposed to me taking the seat beside you? That way I can keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't do something asinine that would ruin this trip for the rest of us?"

He cast a scathing look at Reizo then a cheerful smile at Toru, "By the way, dear boy, how have you been feeling? I heard you felt ill after playing one to many games recently." He lowered his voice whispering, "Don't worry, I did that my freshman year too."

Toru may have felt a chill before, but now he was completely frozen. Of all the people to take notice of him, it just had to be the student council president. What made it worse is that he was talking to him about Reizo of all people. Slowly, he turned around to address the 3rd-year.

"You're talking about Shirai-san here. For him, it's better for his reputation not to move. And..." He took a nervous glance at Reizo. "It looks like he's going to punch your face in any second now."

In response to the second question, Toru looked pointedly out the window. "I'm fine now. It's not really your business as to what goes on in my life, Retsu-san..."

“How in the hell did you ever get to be student president?” He laughed mockingly up at the standing third year. “You’ve got no damned brain to speak of. The shut-in has a better social sense than you. Did your dad bribe the administrator or did your mom fuck him?”

He shook his head unbelievingly and went back to watching the screen of his handheld, then frowned and peered over the seat at Toru. It seemed he either forgot Gendou was there or just didn’t give a damn about his reaction.

“Know any cheats to this?” He asked, lifting the thing above the back of the seat to show the screen and game to the otaku.

Now normally Gendou could take a lot of flack about his family, but when addressing his mother it was something that he wouldn't tolerate. Narrowing his eyes some he smiled politely saying, "No I'm sorry, My mother doesn't pull off the same crap yours did to get you into this school. Seems that she had to do more then fuck him though to me."

With that he turned and headed for another seat to sit down.

The racket the back of the bus has worked itself up to, despite the grave presence of Shirai, came to a sudden stop, as if the wind had dropped out of several of the rubbernecking, glossy-eyed students. Reizo’s response, a laugh, ushered in a palpable sense of relief. Most went back to chattering.

“There’s that winning intellect again, senpai. I can tell you’ll go places,” he said, laughter fading, replaced by an amused Cheshire grin.

And that was the end of it. Or so many had thought until the console Reizo’d been pestering Toru with sailed through the air with surprising accuracy and velocity for something so rectangular. Reizo gasped aloud and clicked his tongue in distaste, shooting suspicious, disapproving looks at anyone who’d dare look at him.

“Now that ain’t nice, just ‘cuz he’s an obnoxious tool doesn’t mean you should go throwing things at him. He’s lucky he’s not bleeding!”

He gave Gendou a feigned apologetic look and shrugged his shoulders. What to do with these violent kids, huh? The kids who wouldn’t look Reizo directly in the eye and who were slinking down in their chairs in an attempt not to get pulled into the minor conflict.

“Be careful not to get lost on that hike, huh? I hear there’re some dangerous animals in the woods. We don‘t want any more harm to come to our precious student president.” The predatory grin he flashed at the end made clear what animal would find Gendou if he should be stupid enough to stray.

The pain was sharp, hard enough that he was going to have to have someone look at it when they got to the hotel. Gendou gritted his teeth and tried to smile at Reizo. "Oh trust me I've delt with animal's before. I'm sure I'll be fine."

Toru had been about to answer Reizo's question with a "there were some codes in the home console game connected to this one, but the only one I can think of is typing in 'VIPER'" when the handheld went flying into the back of Gendou's head. The whole situation made the hikikomori severely regret ever having changed seats, but he realized that it was a bit late for that at this point. He just sank lower in his seat, not wanting to attract negative attention.

"Shirai... er... san... do you want me to go get that?" Maybe, just maybe, the tension would fizzle out if Toru did that. After all that had happened in the past few weeks, it was a good idea not to piss Reizo off any more.

Most of the middle schoolers had paired together in seats at the front of the bus. There were a two or three empty spots for her to choose from, but there was no way she was going to sit with any of those people. One had been rumored to have had lice recently, one was notorious for getting motion sickness on long bus rides, and the other... well, she just didn't like that person. She looked up to see if there were any suitable seats open elsewhere. She did know some highschoolers now, so finding a seat shouldn't have been too hard. They were pretty much sitting together in groups as well. Kiriko was sitting beside Kozue, so sitting beside her was out. Emi was still pretty much at the acquaintance level with everyone else, but behind those two were the dork they saved with some weird dude and then the scary dude Reizo with an open seat. That still wasn't a good option. Thankfully, the weird dude that was sitting beside Toru went to move to a different seat. And then he got hit in the head with a gaming device. Wow. Just wow.

She wasn't sure if the dude had it coming or not, but she didn't particularly care to know. Emi just sighed and rolled her eyes. At least there was another seat open now. It seemed better than her other seating options, so she made her way down the aisle, picked up the handheld lying on the ground, and then took the abandoned seat next to Toru. She situated her pull-string bag into her lap and carelessly dropped the gaming device over the back of the seat to Reizo.

"I'm sitting here."

It didn't seem wise to argue with the middle school student. She was one of the team that came to rescue him, right? And she was scary as hell. No one small girl had any right to so much bitter anger and hatred as her.

So Toru meekly moved closer to the window and tried not to make eye contact.

"Sure, you can sit here..." As if she needed anything like permission from him.

"Emi-himi, don't scare your poor Sempai," Gendou teased some leaning over the seat where he was sitting with a third year girl that he knew. "You're going to make him get more nervous then he already is."
