Action Scene: Snape has dreams for the future? Really?


Harry stood on Snape's front step nervously. It had been over a week since he'd last been told to go buy something nice for himself, and here he was standing in front of Snape's home wearing it. He knew he didn't have to knock, but something kept him firmly in place and wasn't allowing him to move forward. What if Snape didn't like it? Why did that even matter?

He shook his head and gripped the doorknob, jumping back in surprise when it turned without him moving it.

"How long were you planning on standing on the porch?" Snape asked as he opened the door.

When he caught sight of Harry's clothes, he did a bit of a double take.

He'd mostly been teasing when he'd told Harry to wear something more than ratty jeans and over-sized t-shirts. Apparently, he'd taken it to heart.

Unfortunately, it had left him a little too stunned to speak, so he merely stared.

"I--I," Harry raked his fingers through his shaggy locks and grinned. Snape was gaping. It had an interesting effect on his stomach.

Shaking himself out of his momentary stupor, Severus stepped back to let Harry inside. "You clean up rather well," he said, as if it were of no consequence.

"Not until I have enough clients to put money away," Severus said dismissively. He'd considered asking Lucius for a loan, but had decided against it. Being indebted to Lucius Malfoy wouldn't be good for their friendship.

When Harry halted to look at his shoe, Severus passed him, entering the lab first.

"You're late, Potter."
