Talk. Talk to him. Just ask. Simple as that. Just ask. Just casually bring it up out of nowhere and ask. The words were simple. Do you like me. Easy. Just four of them. Four words. That was it. Four words to ask. Four. Just ask. It would be easy. Anybody could do this. She could do this. Just ask. Words from the mouth. Simple.
Of course, she had to lift her hand to the door to knock, first. And her arm wasn't obeying her at all. It was like it was loaded down with cement. And then glued to her body. Maybe glued with super glue. Super wacky glue.
She looked at her feet, took a deep breath, told her arm that it was going to obey her or she was going to cut it off, let the breath out, looked up, and knocked.
She actually knocked!
There was a moment of panic and the urge to run. Instincts kicked in and told her to get out, get the hell out, nothing good was going to happen here. Lucky for her, her legs were covered in the same fear cement that her arm had been, and she went nowhere.
"Kra...?" Oizys cleared her throat and tried again. "Kray? Are you home? It's Oizys. Uh. Your aunt. Could I... talk to you? Please?"
Her eyes squeezed shut hard. That was the stupidest intro on the face of the planet. It couldn't have gone worse if she'd just thrown up on his door.
Maybe he wasn't home. Maybe he wasn't going to answer. Maybe she could just go home, curl up under the covers of her bed and hide for a really long time and hope that nobody ever found out about this monumental failure on her part. Especially Apate. That would be horrible. Oh god. What if Apate was watching right now? What if this had just been a plan so she could get her jollies again?
Stupid! Stupid! Never listen to Apate!
