Musings - A fictional essences RPG
You're different from everyone else, but so are all the people who have come here before you and the people who will follow after. You look like everyone else on the street - talk like them, feel like them, but you are not them. You are something else.
The place you come from may have been important to you, or it may not have. No one gets to choose where they come from. But that place no longer matters, because now you are here - part of a small group of immigrants that is growing every day, cousins to humanity that wear its face but wield powers it has no grasp of.
What will you do, now that you've arrived? Will you be a hero? Will you use your advantages to do good? Or will you be a villain, or something in between, or will you pursue superiority for your kind? Will you fight for something? Do you care enough to fight?
No one knows the answer but you, because you are different. You are different from the people you walk down the street with, and you are different from the people who came to this world from yours. You think you know London, its streets and alleys like the creases of your palm. You don't know all its secrets. In its depths are places to buy amulets and tarot readings, a talisman that permits the wearer to manipulate luck hangs alongside bottles of herbs and demon's blood. Books so ancient the pages are tissue-thin jostle against postcards of buses and telephone boxes. There are bars where the clientele don't just find the dim light flattering, but downright necessary, and the smell of brimstone lingers in the nostrils. There are corners and recesses where magic isn't trickery or sleight of hand, but blood and bone and flesh and you might -- you might -- catch sight of feathers pure as snow and light, if you know where to go. If you know how to see. There's a pitched battle being fought for this other London and your London besides -- one in which every human in existence is being counted in a gamble for souls, Heaven and Hell trying to tip the scales and grave-faced Librarians holding them steady. And all the time, people go about their lives with a little pinch of something extra in a London you'll never see. |

The Mansion. Windows have been blown out, rooms are destroyed, the front yard is full of bullet holes, the left wing on the first floor has been marked by fire, and on the roof remains pieces of...well, we're not sure, but it used to be alive.
The Attack. It happened in the middle of the night. No one knew it was coming, and no one was prepared for what they would face. Humans and mutants full of self-hate on a suicide mission. After a night like this, something tells me there won't be school for awhile.
The Fallout. Dead bodies are everywhere and their beloved safe haven has been destroyed. It's time to decide who you can trust, and who to ally yourself with. Not everyone is as evil as they seem, and not every smile has good intentions behind it.
The Reason. It's been seven years since "The Cure" was invented and now, it's starting to wear off. Former mutants who thought they could have a normal life are experiencing a massive influx of power, sometimes rendering them uncontrollable. Some of these mutants hate themselves so much that they think the world would be better off without them. All of them.
The Future. With Magneto building up his Brotherhood once more, the mansion destroyed, and Ororo at the helm of Xavier's, everyone is on the brink of something. Is it war? Is it a change so grand no one can yet imagine it? Looks like we'll find out soon enough.
