Dear readers of the dailysnitch -
recently we were (very politely) asked to include more LiveJournal-based content in our editions. We would love to do that. As much as we can, we are already trying to find all interesting Harry Potter content published on LiveJournal. We follow over 300 feeds on feedly, 280 or so are from LiveJournal. Both our recent polls have generated so much traffic that they were among the 10 top LJ posts on the day of posting.

But as LiveJournal is becoming one among many other fannish platforms, it is harder to discover content relevant to Harry Potter fandom. Which is why we need your help.

If you see a LJ post that's interesting for HP fandom, send us the link. If you've written a post that is interesting for HP fandom, send us the link. We whole-heartedly encourage self-promotion!! :) Send us your links, and we publish them if they are in any way relevant to HP fandom. Our email address is simple and easy to remember:

As there are four more Fantastic Beasts movies coming out in the next years, we've also introduced a new Category in the dailysnitch: Fandom Movie Reviews.

If you reviewed Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, please drop us a link. The only prerequisites are that the review post is unflocked and (obviously) that you are comfortable sharing your thoughts on the movie with a wider audience.

Starting tonight, we are introducing a new category for the dailysnitch:

☆ Fandom Recs ☆

We hope "Fandom Recs" will be a useful new resource for HP fandom. With the category, we want to show our appreciation of all the reccers who take the time to write up what they loved about a specific fanfic, art, podfic and/or fanvid. Fandom needs reccers, especially when it comes to rarer pairings and fannish creations off the well-trodden fandom paths.

In the new category we will link to recs on LJ, DW, IJ, tumblr or any other fannish platform. The rec posts can be made in reccing communities like the crack_broom, one_bad_man or hd_storyroom. Or they can be made by individual fans, reccing their favourite stories, art, podfics and vids.

We define "rec post" to mean more than a repost/reblog of a fannish creation. The reccer has to say at least a few words about why they are reccing.

We will link to the rec post and make a note of the pairing or whether it's a gen creation. We will not list the author/artist, title or summary of the recced story or art. Any additional information about the rec post is at the editor's discretion.

The "Fannish Recs" Category is a test. We will try it out for two months and then re-evaluate whether the category is useful for Snitch readers and doable for the editor team.

We'd love to hear your thoughts about the new category, any reccing communities we may be unaware of, and whether you have additional suggestions for the new category. Please comment on this post!

===== HOT RECS = HOT ART RECS = NEW POLICY =====

After much deliberation and prodding from many people, we have decided on a change in policy for the Hot Recs and Hot Art Recs.

Starting today, the dailysnitch allows recs from all fannish websites or social media platforms to count towards a Hot Rec or Hot Art Rec.

We now allow recs from:
– LiveJournal
– InsaneJournal
– DreamWidth
NEW – tumblr
NEW – twitter
NEW – Instagramm
NEW – FaceBoook
NEW – Wattpad
NEW – any other website or social media platform.

The recs need to be "real" recs as in, the reccer needs to state, in their own words, why they rec the fic or art. Just a "I rec this" or a collection of recommended fanfic/fanart is not enough.

The same rec posted on several platforms only counts as one rec.

== Special Editions ==

Many of you will remember the Special Editions posted in the dailysnitch from August 2008 until September 2011. titti did a truly amazing job, collecting an astounding 149 Special Editions about Harry Potter characters from Aberforth Dumbledore to Zacharias Smith. Do check them out.

Tonight, we are starting the second round of Special Editions. :)

What are Special Editions?
Special Editions are collections of community resourced fanart and fanfiction recommendations, meta, communities and resources about one specific character from the Harry Potter series.
