Once upon a time, not all that long ago really, Katherine Pryde was a completely different woman. Captain of the Marauders, both feared and respected, and certainly not the gawky and almost painfully awkward teenager she had been when she first joined the X-Men. So what was it about this hotel, and most especially Pyro, that had her feeling like she was regressing? When they were both younger, Kitty always felt like the odd man out when it came to her teammates. Both Bobby and St. John only had eyes for Anna, and well, Kitty only had eyes for Piotr. Honestly, she didn't even think St. John had ever noticed her beyond acknowledging that they sometimes worked together. Perhaps it was due to the lack of other X-Men here that Kitty felt like he was paying her a little more attention than she was used to. She and Bobby had actually been friends before, but she was never entirely sure where she stood with St. John. She still wasn't sure, although his incessant teasing of her was starting to get on her nerves. Therefore, when it seemed like he was issuing a challenge to her, Kitty absolutely took it personally. Her powers and size made her uniquely overqualified for 'playing' games like this - being able to become intangible had all sorts of perks that combined well with being on the petite side. And while she knew her prey believed that he was better than her in the arts of evasion, he somehow must have forgotten the greatest trick in Shadowcat's arsenal. Finding out where his room was proved ridiculously easy, as was doing recon to determine what his footfalls sounded like when he was moving around. Positioning herself just below the floor a few steps from his door, Kitty waited. |
