It wasn't really like Steve to put off his problems. He preferred to address them head-on and as soon as possible. Procrastinating just built up an unnecessary amount of stress and prolonged the inevitable. But this one time, it had taken him a while to come around. His thought process had just gone in circles, never reaching a firm resolution. Because honestly, as far as he could see, there wasn't one. Steve and Bucky were at an impasse. Neither one of them was completely in the right or the victim. And as much as he hated to admit it, Steve understood (to a degree) why Bucky had behaved the way he had. He didn't like that it was with Zemo. But he got it. Unfortunately, no matter how much logic he threw at the situation, Steve still felt the emotional impact of it. No matter how much he tried to distract himself, no matter how much time he spent with other people, his heart still sank whenever he thought about Bucky. So finally, finally, Steve became tired of sulking about the matter and decided it was time to have a conversation with Bucky. He wasn't sure what the outcome would be, and that made him awfully nervous. But they needed to talk. Properly, since Steve had stormed off the first time around. After a little bit of searching, he found Bucky out by the docks, looking to be about as in low of spirits as Steve was. Which should have brought Steve some sort of satisfaction since clearly, his boyfriend felt some sort of remorse over what had happened. But honestly, truly, it didn't. Because as sour as Steve was over Bucky kissing Zemo, he didn't want Bucky to be unhappy. He came up beside the other man, his eyes searching his face. "Hey." |
