Everything Bucky had said, Steve had already sort of drawn that conclusion. Hearing it just reaffirmed his suspicions. Steve understood. Really, he did. He was all too familiar with that cycle, both platonically and romantically. Losing someone, forcing yourself to move on from that person. Finding others to help fill that gap, only to see said lost person again. It had happened with Peggy. And Bucky. And, arguably, Tony.
The part of the equation that Steve was still having trouble with was Zemo. The blonde couldn't fault Bucky for trying to move on after Steve had pulled his own personal time heist. In fact, he was glad that Bucky hadn't wallowed in sorrow for too long. He had been strong and dragged himself out of a rut, which was never easy to do. But why did it have to involve Zemo? Why couldn't it have been.. damn near anyone else?
Steve was quiet. Nothing happened, Bucky said. But apparently, something had happened. Maybe not anything physical, but something had given Zemo the idea that kissing was fair game.
He debated asking Bucky to elaborate, but as much as he didn't want secrets to be kept between them, Steve didn't feel like he needed to know how, exactly, Zemo had won him over. Steve hadn't been there to witness it, but obviously, the baron had done something to change Bucky's opinion of him. Drastically. And maybe, Steve didn't necessarily need to know that part of the story.
"And then, he showed up here." Steve's voice gave away that he was annoyed about that particular fact. He really, really did not want to ask his next question, but at this point, there was no way around it. "Do you have feelings for him?"
