Plot!

Awesome awesome job with the challenge, everyone. We've been highly enjoying the posts as they've been rolling in so thank you for kicking so much ass with those.

And now... it's time for our next gamewide plot. This is completely voluntary, so your characters are not required to participate. However, they might still notice some strange things happening. There is a new forest in the area. It sprang up overnight with trees that look ancient and a lot of creatures that were previously only thought to belong in fairytales. (Everything from dragons to elves to goblins and whatever else you'd like) There will be a big bad wolf escaping from the forest and rampaging through die Festung. He will be good at keeping out of sight, but bodies are going to start turning up.

Anyone who goes into the forest to investigate might fall prey to the mischievous magic of the faerie who brought it into being. She likes to teach lessons which means she might be inflicting certain curses on those that she feels need to learn something. These lessons will take the form of some sort of play on fairytales. Whether it's a sleeping curse or turning someone into a frog (or any animal is fair game) or whatever you would like.

Now, these aren't your Disney fairytales. No one will be singing and there's very deadly potential in these curses. If your character doesn't learn their lesson or find some other way to lift the curse, any number of awful things could happen.

For some of these, a kiss of true love will work to lift the curse. But how many people in the game can say they're in 'true love'? For most, it will lift when your character figures out whatever it is the faerie intended for them to learn. This is where your own imagination comes into play. It's up to you to pick what you want your character's curse to be like and what it will take to reverse it. If you need suggestions, feel free to shoot us an email and we'll be happy to brainstorm with you.

Also-depending on what sort of curse, your character might not even know they've been cursed right away. They might just start noticing various odd things and slowly piece two and two together.

This plot is scheduled to run through March 18th, though the forest will remain indefinitely (along with the dragons and goblins and any other such mystical creatures)

Plotty Stuff, etc

Since the Gladiator plot seems to be running it's course, we are going to be starting up the rescue portion of that plot as of next weekend. So if you'd like to sign up for the rescue, let us know here and we'll work something up to get your character involved. And if you'd like to get your character into the gladiator ring plot, there is a group thread going on over here or feel free to plot with one of the players who has characters in New Troy or just throw up an open post.

Also, I just put up ads, so don't forget to put your own 'plot wanted ad' over here and list your wanted characters here.

You all rock and I've been enjoying the logs I've seen so far, so keep 'em coming!

And once the gladiator thread is wrapped up and the rescue complete, we will be doing a mix and match challenge as well as a gamewide plot, so your characters should have plenty to do and the chance to meet some new people soon!

Battle Royale Rules!

The Battle Royale post is, just as the subject line says, a free-for-all. This post is open to everyone whose character is currently in New Troy (or if you planned to have your character end up in New Troy, throw them in there)

There are no posting orders. Just post and feel free to break off into various threads or thread-hop. Every one of the prisoners will be confused as all get-out though they might be able to fight through the drugs long enough to start teaming up. Feel free to NPC any manner of beasties from any of the fandoms we have in play in the game (i.e. Buffyverse vamps, Dresdenverse werewolves, etc etc)

This post will be run until Saturday the 21st and then will be closed and your characters will be dumped back into their cells to lick their wounds.

Feel free to still do one-on-one posts for this plot if you'd like. Those could be backdated to before the Battle Royale or just take place shortly after. Either way!

Plot Information and other odds and ends

Hello All!

First off, you are all awesome. The game is off to a great start and we're enjoying the opening posts.

Just a few things about the gladiator ring plot we have running (over in New Troy):

The rescue will take place somewhere around January 27. This means that anyone who wants in on that should get their characters kidnapped soon. For those already in the prison, feel free to get some fighting matches going. Everyone who is trapped over there has a collar that will negate any special abilities they have while outside the ring and will administer a drug to heighten their fear and make them hallucinate things they fear while inside the ring. They might flash in and out of their hallucinations while fighting.

Once the fight is done, or if the opponents are getting too close to killing each other, the collars will administer a sedative and prisoners will wake up back in their cells, disoriented.

Also, if your character is on the outside of New Troy and you'd like them in on the rescue, comment here and we'll see what we can plan in regards to getting them involved with the prospective rescue team (which currently consists of Dean, Clark, Sam and Fred and possibly Constantine and Zee)

Another, mostly unrelated note. Don't forget that there are dead spots in certainly locations. These dead spots will suppress magic and superpowers. For the most part, it is up to you to decide whether or not your character stumbles on a dead spot during a log. The only place that is an established dead spot is the quarantine holding cells in die Festung.

Let us know if you have any questions on any of the currently running plots or if you need plotting direction!

Sign-ups for the opening plot

Hey all,
We have a few weeks before we will officially open. But I know that some of you are doing test logs and writing up your intro posts, so I figured I'd throw up this information here.

At the start of the game, your characters will be falling through the cracks in reality and landing somewhere in this world. Where they land and what happens next is up to you. We would like to have characters ending up in various places to start out, though if you wanted to have them end up one place and meet a few people and then eventually get to another, that is perfectly welcome and encouraged. Most characters will land in the wild (more below) and find their way to one of the options (maybe picking up someone else along the way)

Here are the options:

1. The unnamed traveling colony: This is a small group of people that don't have a fortified city. They are currently traveling from place to place, trying to avoid the monsters. Everyone pitches in and the people in this colony may vaguely know that your character is from 'something' but they won't really care all that much. This colony is led by a man who just goes by the name Jackson. He's a nice guy who is a little on the quiet side, though it's clear he has an inner strength. He just wants to help people and he doesn't trust the leaders of either of the cities mentioned below.

2. die Festung: die Festung is a city that was converted into a safe haven. There is a wall all around the city and the outside is patrolled by heavily armed guards. Upon arriving outside the wall, newcomers will be ushered inside at gunpoint and put in quarantine to make sure that they're not carrying the Netvor virus. Since facilities will be limited, quarantine will be doubling and sometimes tripling up people. This is a city that has clearly seen better days. The city itself is larger than the current population, and the people of the city don't have a lot of hope left. The Netvor virus has decreased their population and various creatures have occasionally gotten past the safeguards. There is a lot of bartering and food is available, though it's not upscale by any means. The potential 'chosen ones' will all end up in the same area, within the same building (maybe two buildings depending on how many show up here). Each will be given an apartment. The leader, Belia Orehek will speak to everyone in a group thread after you all do your arrivals and anything you want to do with the quarantine. Belia has her own agenda and will do things her own way, however she also has need of the potential 'chosen ones' so there may be some negotiating if any of them have demands. Your character will find out about their books/TV show/movies etc right away if they end up here.

3. New Troy: At first glance, New Troy may look very similar to die Festung. Trading is similar, and each city has seen its fair share of hardships. However, the citizens of New Troy are also aware of the prophecy and loathe the potential chosen ones. They don't believe that anyone can help, and certainly not outsiders. The leader of New Troy, Dr. Lucius, will take any newcomers prisoner. He has access to the source material (ie your character's books, movies, etc) and is using it to exploit weaknesses. He uses these weaknesses to trap them and then forces them to fight for his citizens' entertainment. The captives will be given a drug to make them hallucinate an opponent that embodies their worst fears. Afterward, they may be disoriented and not realize quite what happened. Some of them might remember the fights enough to understand that they were drugged and might have hurt someone that didn't deserve it.

This will be part of the first gamewide plot. Those trapped in New Troy will start to try to work together (by talking through the bars of their cells) to escape and some of those outside will band together to rescue them.

4. The Wild: Your character can arrive in the wild and some may end up haunting the wild for a bit, however to encourage interaction it would be good for characters to either band together or end up at one of the above options.

A little bit about the wild. It is populated with any type of monster from any of the fandoms mentioned. The cracks in reality are letting a lot in. Original to this world are the Netvors. The Netvors used to be humans but were inflicted with a virus that makes them bloodthirsty and mindless. They are fast-moving and have only one thing in mind-getting more blood, but they run in packs and will bite anyone that comes near. Bullets and possibly swords will slow them down, but not for long. The only way to stop the Netvors is to cut their heads off. There is currently no cure for this virus. If bitten, there is a very high chance your character will turn into a Netvor.

One other thing about this world: The cracks in reality are creating dead spots. So certain areas will neutralize your character's powers or possibly push someone who is teetering on the brink over the edge into insanity. These dead spots will sometimes move around. Falling into them or not is at your discretion as the player.

Comment below with where you'd like your character to start out so we can get a feel for who's starting where and so you all can start plotting your team-ups. Let's try to get someone in every camp to start out and then go from there.
